Effortless Expression by Marie Rosas Pdf

Life is given to be taken care of, and so. Our live's are our fault. We could have changed it, if it didn't suit us. We didn't know how to change it. All the happenings, in all of our years, should have taught us more. We didn't pay attention. All the teachers around us, family, friends, strangers, enemies, including ourselves. All the good, all the bad, all the heartaches. We didn't pay attention. We've forgotten some of the good, because we didn't change the bad. We are older, a bit wiser, looking back we stumble in thought. The bad gets worse, less talk about the good gets lost. God got us through. The bad choices we made went against the precious guidance of our Lord. Human nature nurtures stubbornness. It makes us feel good. Really, as we kick ourselves down the lane of age, we realize, we had the choice to change things, and didn't. Because we were, immature and stubborn.

Effortless Action by Edward Slingerland Pdf

This book presents a systematic account of the role of the personal spiritual ideal of wu-wei--literally "no doing," but better rendered as "effortless action"--in early Chinese thought. Edward Slingerland's analysis shows that wu-wei represents the most general of a set of conceptual metaphors having to do with a state of effortless ease and unself-consciousness. This concept of effortlessness, he contends, serves as a common ideal for both Daoist and Confucian thinkers. He also argues that this concept contains within itself a conceptual tension that motivates the development of early Chinese thought: the so-called "paradox of wu-wei," or the question of how one can consciously "try not to try." Methodologically, this book represents a preliminary attempt to apply the contemporary theory of conceptual metaphor to the study of early Chinese thought. Although the focus is upon early China, both the subject matter and methodology have wider implications. The subject of wu-wei is relevant to anyone interested in later East Asian religious thought or in the so-called "virtue-ethics" tradition in the West. Moreover, the technique of conceptual metaphor analysis--along with the principle of "embodied realism" upon which it is based--provides an exciting new theoretical framework and methodological tool for the study of comparative thought, comparative religion, intellectual history, and even the humanities in general. Part of the purpose of this work is thus to help introduce scholars in the humanities and social sciences to this methodology, and provide an example of how it may be applied to a particular sub-field.

Another Place by Andrew Elkins Pdf

Contending that many good poets live and write in the American West, Andrew Elkins suggests that the western landscape--be it New Mexico desert or Alaskan wilderness--shapes the work that is created there. The place's essence and spirit inevitably become part of the work that flows from the poet's creativity. Elkins examines the work of Peggy Pond Church, John Haines, Adrian C. Louis, Richard Hugo, Jane Hirshfield, and several cowboy poets. --Texas Christian University Press.

The Silicon Sage: AI Interpretations of the Tao Te Ching by James Godwin Pdf

Welcome to "The Silicon Sage: AI Interpretations of the Tao Te Ching," a groundbreaking exploration where the enduring wisdom of ancient Taoist philosophy intersects with the cutting-edge capabilities of artificial intelligence. This book is an endeavour to bridge two vastly different worlds - the ancient and the digital - and in doing so, to offer a unique perspective on Lao Tzu's profound teachings. The Tao Te Ching, written by the sage Lao Tzu over two and a half millennia ago, is a cornerstone of Taoist philosophy. Its verses have guided countless individuals in their quest for personal understanding, balance, and harmony with the natural world. However, as our world evolves and technology becomes increasingly integral to our lives, new interpretations and understandings of these ancient texts emerge. This is where artificial intelligence steps in. Artificial Intelligence, or AI, represents the pinnacle of human technological advancement and intellectual achievement. AI's capacity to analyse, interpret, and present data in innovative ways has opened new avenues for understanding complex subjects. In this book, AI acts as the 'Silicon Sage', delving into the Tao Te Ching's verses and offering interpretations that are insightful, relevant, and accessible, particularly to those new to Taoist thought. The intention behind using AI for interpreting the Tao Te Ching is multifold. Firstly, it provides a fresh lens through which the ancient verses can be understood, making them more accessible to a modern audience. The AI's ability to process and analyse vast amounts of information allows for a comprehensive exploration of the text, drawing connections and insights that may not be immediately apparent to the human reader. Secondly, this approach highlights the universality and timelessness of the Tao Te Ching's wisdom. By demonstrating that even the most modern of technologies can find relevance and meaning in these ancient teachings, we see how the Tao's insights transcend time and technological progress. Furthermore, the use of AI challenges us to consider the role of technology in our spiritual and philosophical explorations. In an age where technology often seems at odds with nature and simplicity - key themes of Taoist philosophy - this book serves as a reminder that technology, when used thoughtfully, can enhance our understanding of the world and ourselves. "The Silicon Sage: AI Interpretations of the Tao Te Ching" is not just a novel rendition of an ancient text; it is a dialogue between the past and the future. It is an invitation to both seasoned Taoist followers and newcomers to view the teachings of the Tao through a new, digital lens. As you journey through the chapters, we hope you find these interpretations enlightening, thought-provoking, and a valuable addition to your exploration of Taoist philosophy.

Reading Shakespeare's Poetry by Dympna Callaghan Pdf

Reading Shakespeare’s Poetry A lively exploration of Shakespeare’s poems and how they speak to readers Reading Shakespeare’s Poetry presents a fresh interpretation of Shakespeare’s non-dramatic poems, providing insights into the individual poems, their themes and composition, and their relation to the cultural context of Shakespeare’s world. Dympna Callaghan considers what makes Shakespeare’s language poetic and shows how his poetry is comprised not only of lyrical intensity but also of the language of everyday life. Presented chronologically, lucidly-written chapters examine Venus and Adonis, Lucrece, The Phoenix and the Turtle, the Sonnets, and A Lover’s Complaint. Special attention is paid to the distinctive ways in which lineation, rhyme, verse forms, and meter serve to delineate or erase the boundaries of Shakespeare’s poetry. Throughout the book, the author explains how Shakespeare’s language is influenced by predecessors such as Ovid and Petrarch while highlighting how ideas about the social and cultural function of poetry permeate Shakespeare’s works. Offers an eminently readable yet scholarly exploration of the literary importance of Shakespeare’s poems Explains the technical features of Shakespeare’s poetic language Addresses the significance of the material form in which Shakespeare’s poems appear Includes a discussion of songs, poems, and sonnets embedded in Shakespeare’s dramatic verse Reading Shakespeare’s Poetry is both a fresh and indispensable guide to the poems and a significant critical intervention. This is a must-have book for scholars, students, and general readers alike.

Grace-Full Business Devotional by Evan K. Beecham Pdf

Identity theft is said to be the number one crime in the world, so we do everything we can to protect our identity from theft. To lose our identity to a thief is a devastating thought. The first act of identity theft occurred in the Garden of Eden. This incident affected every human ever born. Losing our identity, not knowing who we really are, is like spending our lives groping in the dark, searching for a light to help us discover ourselves. Everyone has been exposed to some set of rules to live by with the promise of self-discovery. People spend their entire lives in the endless pursuit of "who am I really?" "why am I here?" and "what is the purpose of life?" Then when we encounter a difficulty, we ask ourselves "was that God, the devil, or me?" Always trying to earn or qualify ourselves as good enough for God, we're never really sure if it worked, but we sure are working ourselves to death trying. There cannot be true peace or rest in living this way. Our identity crisis affects our passions, or what we do in our lives, our businesses, and our occupations. There is a discovery of the truth that will absolutely transform your life. It will open your eyes, inspire your God-given talent, and ignite your passion. When my eyes were opened to this truth in 2008, I experienced joy and genuine peace like I never really knew existed, except maybe in a dream. This truth so radically changed the way I thought, which only the unconditional love and great grace of God can do. This book is dedicated to those who have struggled with life because of identity theft. If we don't know who we really are, then we won't know just how priceless, accepted, and loved we really are. I have written this book with great excitement to share this life we all have been looking for and just how fulfilling our businesses and occupations can be, fulfill your passions-a gift from God, your redemption is complete in Christ Jesus. Let the journey to freedom begin today.

Ancient Greece, Modern Psyche by Virginia Beane Rutter,Thomas Singer Pdf

Between ancient Greece and modern psyche lies a divide of not only three thousand years, but two cultures that are worlds apart in art, technology, economics and the accelerating flood of historical events. This unique collection of essays from an international selection of contributors offers compelling evidence for the natural connection and relevance of ancient myth to contemporary psyche, and emerges from the second 'Ancient Greece, Modern Psyche' conference held in Santorini, Greece, in 2012. This volume is a powerful homecoming for those seeking a living connection between the psyche of the ancients and our modern psyche. This book looks at eternal themes such as love, beauty, death, suicide, dreams, ancient Greek myths, the Homeric heroes and the stories of Demeter, Persephone, Apollo and Hermes as they connect with themes of the modern psyche. The contributors propose that that the link between them lies in the underlying archetypal patterns of human behaviour, emotion, image, thought, and memory. Ancient Greece, Modern Psyche: Archetypes Evolving makes clear that an essential part of deciphering our dilemmas resides in a familiarity with Western civilization's oldest stories about our origins, our suffering, and the meaning or meaninglessness in life. It will be of great interest to Jungian psychotherapists, academics and students as well as scholars of classics and mythology.
