Elastic And Diffractive Scattering: Proceedings Of The International Conference On The Viiith Blois Workshop by A V Prokudin,Vladimir Alexeevich Petrov Pdf
This book contains various experimental and theoretical reports on the status and prospects of one of the most interesting and difficult areas of modern high energy physics — elastic and diffractive scattering. One can find here general trends and problems, and original ideas on particle interactions and structure.
Elastic and Diffractive Scattering by H M Fried,K Kang,C-I Tan Pdf
These proceedings contain descriptions of the latest experiments and results in a variety of hot topics, such as the growth of total cross sections, the ratio of real to imaginary parts of forward scattering amplitudes, etc. Current theories of particle interaction based on QCD were presented and confronted by the latest experimental results from FNAL, CERN, HERA and elsewhere. The theoretical situation seems less clear, or at least more open to argument and criticism, leveled by the different groups responsible and present at the workshop. Elastic and Inelastic Scattering in Electron Diffraction and Imaging by Zhong-lin Wang Pdf
Elastic and inelastic scattering in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) are important research subjects. For a long time, I have wished to systematically summarize various dynamic theories associated with quantitative electron micros copy and their applications in simulations of electron diffraction patterns and images. This wish now becomes reality. The aim of this book is to explore the physics in electron diffraction and imaging and related applications for materials characterizations. Particular emphasis is placed on diffraction and imaging of inelastically scattered electrons, which, I believe, have not been discussed exten sively in existing books. This book assumes that readers have some preknowledge of electron microscopy, electron diffraction, and quantum mechanics. I anticipate that this book will be a guide to approaching phenomena observed in electron microscopy from the prospects of diffraction physics. The SI units are employed throughout the book except for angstrom (A), which is used occasionally for convenience. To reduce the number of symbols used, the Fourier transform of a real-space function P'(r), for example, is denoted by the same symbol P'(u) in reciprocal space except that r is replaced by u. Upper and lower limits of an integral in the book are (-co, co) unless otherwise specified. The (-co, co) integral limits are usually omitted in a mathematical expression for simplification. I very much appreciate opportunity of working with Drs. J. M. Cowley and J. C. H. Spence (Arizona State University), J.
Recent Advances in Hadron Physics by Kyungsik Kang,Sung Ku Kim Pdf
The Blois workshop has become, in recent years, a general particle physics conference, unlike the early workshops. The seventh workshop was no exception, dealing with the wide range of fundamental particle physics and new results in hadron physics above and beyond elastic and diffractive scattering. The proceedings cover the most recent, exciting experimental results of diffractive physics from the Fermilab and HERA colliders and related theoretical issues, in addition to the fundamental strong interaction subjects, such as elastic scattering, the Pomeron, and perturbative and non-perturbative QCD. The interesting topics of heavy quark physics, effective field theories, low-x physics and new particle searches are also included.
High-Energy Particle Diffraction by Vincenzo Barone,Enrico Predazzi Pdf
A comprehensive and up-to-date overview of soft and hard diffraction processes in strong interaction physics. The first part covers soft hadron—hadron scattering in a complete and mature presentation. It can be used as a textbook in particle physics classes. Chapters 8-11 address graduate students as well as researchers, covering the "new diffraction": the pomeron in QCD, low-x physics, diffractive deep inelastic scattering and related processes.
Diffractive Processes in Nuclear Physics by W. E. Frahn Pdf
This comprehensive introduction to an important area of nuclear physics summarizes the developments in the field over the last decade and provides essential theoretical background. Particular emphasis is placed on the closed formalism for strong-absorption processes. Elastic and inelastic scattering, transfer reactions, and coupled-channel extensions are covered. This book, found among Frahn's papers after his death, represents his final thoughts on the subject to which he devoted his life's work. As such, it is invaluable for advanced students and researchers in nuclear physics.
