Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Mathematical Astronomy for Amateurs by E. A. Beet Pdf
This is a clear and simple introduction to the calculations that form the basis of all astronomical laws and observations. Most elementary astronomy books are purely descriptive, while textbooks of mathematical astronomy assume a considerable knowledge of mathematics. Here the author relies only on simple 'school maths' to help the amateur widen his horizons and interpret his observations.

Elementary Mathematical Astronomy, Vol. 2 by C. W. C. Barlow Pdf
Excerpt from Elementary Mathematical Astronomy, Vol. 2: With Examples and Examination Papers It has not been assumed that the reader's knowledge of mathe maties extends beyond the more rudimentary portions of Geometry, Algebra, and Trigonometry. A knowledge of elementary Dynamics will, however, be required in reading the last three chapters, but all dynamical investigations have been left till the end of the book, thus separating dynamical from descriptive Astronomy. The principal properties of the Sphere required in Astronomy have been collected in the Introductory Chapter; and, as it is impossible to understand Kepler's Laws without a slight knowledge of the properties Of the Ellipse, the more important Of these have been collected in the Appendix for the benefit of students who have not read Conic Sections. A Text Book of Elementary Astronomy by Ernest Agar Beet Pdf
Originally published in 1945, this book was principally intended as a science book for schools to aid and assist classroom study and to provide practical exercises to follow up and consolidate theory. Topics are covered through multivariate analyses and range from 'Constellations' to 'Time' to 'The law of gravitation', whilst relevant parts of the theory of light are also discussed, enabling the principles of the telescope, spectroscope and atmospheric refraction to be fully understood. Notably, questions for self-study are also included as well as multiple diagrams and photographs. Written from a historical, mathematical and experimental standpoint, this book provides an introductory treatment of astronomy and will be of great value to researchers and scholars in the field and to anyone with an interest in the history of education.

Babylonian Mathematical Astronomy: Procedure Texts by Mathieu Ossendrijver Pdf
This book contains new translations and a new analysis of the procedure texts of Babylonian mathematical astronomy, the earliest known form of mathematical astronomy of the ancient world. The translations are based on a modern approach incorporating recent insights from Assyriology and translation science. The work contains updated and expanded interpretations of the astronomical algorithms and investigations of previously ignored linguistic, mathematical and other aspects of the procedure texts. Special attention is paid to issues of mathematical representation and over 100 photos of cuneiform tablets dating from 350-50 BCE are presented. In 2-3 years, the author intends to continue his study of Babylonian mathematical astronomy with a new publication which will contain new editions and reconstructions of approx. 250 tabular texts and a new philological, astronomical and mathematical analysis of these texts. Tabular texts are end products of Babylonian math astronomy, computed with algorithms that are formulated in the present volume, Procedure Texts.
