The Quest for the Enchanted Sword by Cara J. Stevens Pdf

Continue the adventure in the third volume of Battle Station Prime, an edgy graphic novel series for Minecraft fans. After defeating the skeleton army invasion, things get awfully quiet at Battle Station Prime. School is in session, and the students are finally falling into a routine. One ordinary day, while Pell is daydreaming about a life of adventure, his ears perk up. His teacher speaks of a magical realm with an enchanted sword that only a true hero — the Chosen One — can possess. After reading more about the legend, clues in the text make Pell think that he may be the Chosen One and this is his calling. Pell enlists the help of Logan and Maddy to embark on a hero’s quest. To their surprise, as they set out, they are joined by others who believe that the hero’s quest is theirs. At first, the opposing groups compete to see who can find the magical realm and get to the sword first, but as the going gets tough, the teams must work together to cross the challenging frozen landscape, battling natural enemies and using their survival skills. As the groups get closer to their goal, they uncover secrets long hidden about the true nature of one of their fellow travelers: that the Chosen One has been traveling with them all along, and it’s someone they never suspected.

Poetic Inquiry and Arts-Based Research for the Maintenance of the Republic and What Comes After by Angelo J. Letizia Pdf

This book demonstrates the power of poetry and the ways in which academics can utilize poetry to go beyond the scholarly realm and create works of art which, unlike traditional academic works, problematize and question reality rather than simply describe it. Through its disciplinary, scholarly, and personal construction, poetry holds the potential to “erase” what we know and build a new world. The purpose of this book is to show how professors and students who write poetry can be emboldened to imagine new forms of government and political arrangements, promote social change and challenges to power structures, and detail radical ways of living with each other more generally. Conceiving of the “republic” as a democratic republic, or representative democracy, the author calls attention to the idea of poetry as evidence-based, which, despite the absence of verifiable data, nonetheless gives structure to ideas and experiences filtered through human cognition, imagination, and senses. Grounded in theory, arts-based research, and poetic inquiry and supplemented with practical class assignments, pedagogical strategies, and reflective items, this volume will appeal to faculty, scholars, and postgraduate students working across research methods, arts-based research and practice, and language and linguistics.

Trails of Enchantment by Paul Brandreth Pdf

For hunters who love the north woods, the past glory of the wilderness is recorded here. Paulina Brandreth, who wrote under the pseudonym Paul Brandreth, was a woman who hunted and photographed deer in the Adirondacks with noted deer hunters Roy Chapman Andrews, General 'Black Jack' Pershing, and Reuben Cary. She began writing for the acclaimed sportsmen's journal Forest and Stream in 1894 at the age of nine. Her material in the magazine was credited to Camp Good Enough, Brandreth Lake, a major deer camp on land purchased by her grandfather specifically for hunting and fishing. One of only a few women writing about hunting at that time, Brandreth chose to continue to write under a pseudonym, publishing Trails of Enchantment in 1930. She was passionate about still-hunting whitetail bucks, evident in a hunt with her guide and friend Reuben Cary: Side by side, we knelt in the snow, waiting for the buck to appear from behind the intervening trunk of a big birch. The suspense was harrowing. And then at last he loomed suddenly before us....
