Endless Inheritance by Richard Del Monte Pdf

Many successful parents have spent their lives creating a financial bonanza for themselves, as well as their children and grandchildren. What they didn’t plan for are the unintended consequences that increased wealth brings. These include issues like entitlement and loss of work ethic among the rising generation, and increased potential for upsets, disputes, and strained relationships that can often progress to separation and even lawsuits. Richard M. Del Monte, CFP®, CWC, wealth consultant and author of ENDLESS INHERITANCE: Moving from Feuding to Flourishing in Your Affluent Family aims to help affluent families prepare for and prevent the destructive forces that wealth brings, and help them resolve all their conflicts, prepare the heirs to handle the wealth they will inherit, and create a scenario in which money becomes a tool to unleash and achieve the family’s greatest potential, now and in future generations. Seventy percent of affluent families fail at passing on wealth through the second generation, meaning the kids either squander all the money or wind up fighting with or suing each other. Written as a guide, ENDLESS INHERITANCE: Moving from Feuding to Flourishing in Your Affluent Family, outlines how to prepare the rising generation of a wealthy family—not just to inherit worldly goods, but to be engaged and contributing members of the family, to appreciate their shared history, resolve conflicts quickly before they escalate, and to be able to handle the responsibilities and opportunities that come with wealth. As a wealth consultant, asset manager, and trained specialist in family dynamics, Richard M. Del Monte outlines a plan of action supported by resources and exercises to empower parents and children alike to start the often difficult conversations needed to overcome poor relationships, lack of trust, and entitlement. The book addresses financial planning aspects wealthy families should consider, as well as the family’s interpersonal relationships and training that need to be addressed to ensure their wealth and family harmony last for generations.

Work, Inheritance, and Deserts in Joseph Conrad’s Fiction by Evelyn Tsz Yan Chan Pdf

This book focuses on the complex relationships between inheritance, work, and desert in literature. It shows how, from its manifestation in the trope of material inheritance and legacy in Victorian fiction, “inheritance” gradually took on additional, more modern meanings in Joseph Conrad’s fiction on work and self-making. In effect, the emphasis on inheritance as referring to social rank and wealth acquired through birth shifted to a focus on talent, ability, and merit, often expressed through work. The book explores how Conrad’s fiction engaged with these changing modes of inheritance and work, and the resulting claims of desert they led to. Uniquely, it argues that Conrad’s fiction critiques claims of desert arising from both work and inheritance, while also vividly portraying the emotional costs and existential angst that these beliefs in desert entailed. The argument speaks to and illuminates today’s debates on moral desert arising from work and inheritance, in particular from meritocratic ideals. Its new approach to Conrad’s works will appeal to students and scholars of Conrad and literary modernism, as well as a wider audience interested in philosophical and social debates on desert deriving from inheritance and work.

Possessing Your Inheritance by Chuck D. Pierce,Rebecca Wagner Sytsema Pdf

Inheritance means taking hold of the portion God has planned for you. Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10), demonstrating God's longing for His people to prosper, to accomplish all He has planned for them. He wants to take them from a place of judgment, desolation, and fruitlessness to a place of restoration, hope, and abundant life. In this revised and updated edition of Possessing Your Inheritance, prophetic intercessor Chuck Pierce, with coauthor Rebecca Wagner Sytsema, shows readers how to embrace what God has destined for them, for their children, and their children's children.

Is Inheritance Legitimate? by Guido Erreygers,Toon Vandevelde Pdf

The debate on inheritance and inheritance taxation has always been linked with the " efficiency versus equity issue". Some consider inheritance taxes as highly appropriate means to bring forth more economic equality, especially equality in starting conditions. Others openly doubt the effectiveness of inheritance taxes in this domain, and point out that the negative effects may outweigh the positive. Some go as far as to say that high inheritance taxes threaten fundamental ethical values and should therefore be abolished. In this book both economists and philosophers try to disentangle these and related theoretical issues. It gives an overview of what economists and philosophers have to say on the matter, and confronts and discusses two radically opposed reform proposals.

Gospel Community by Neal Ledbetter Pdf

Do you long for genuine relationships where you can know others and be known by them? Do you desire more than just gathering in the same space with others without any real connection? Yet, simultaneously, do you find yourself occasionally pushing back when someone gets too close? Why do you think you have that longing, and why do you think deep-abiding relationships are such a struggle to find and maintain? In this book, Pastor Neal Ledbetter makes the case that the gospel of Jesus Christ gives us answers. In the gospel, we are offered the endless treasure of Jesus and the never-ending, overflowing supply of treasures found in him. One of the rare jewels that comes with a new identity in Christ is a new gospel community, kingdom-family, and people to which we belong and in which we can know and be known. Paul calls it our inheritance in the saints (Eph 1:18), our citizenship with the saints, and our membership among the household of God (Eph 2:19–22). This new gospel community and kingdom-family is simply too important and too wonderful a treasure to ignore, avoid, or treat as unnecessary, unimportant, or secondary to our lives. This study will explore the extraordinary gift we have been given in gospel community. We’ll see how the gospel transforms us individually and simultaneously forms us into a new people. We’ll survey how we are intended to live together and the only sustaining motive and power for doing so. And finally, we’ll examine several characteristics necessary to experience the rare jewel of gospel community.

The Varieties of Religious Experience by William James Pdf

Selected by the Modern Library as one of the 100 best nonfiction books of all time "The Varieties of Religious Experience is certainly the most notable of all books in the field of the psychology of religion and probably destined to be the most influential [one] written on religion in the twentieth century," said Walter Houston Clark in Psychology Today. The book was an immediate bestseller upon its publication in June 1902. Reflecting the pluralistic views of psychologist-turned-philosopher William James, it posits that individual religious experiences, rather than the tenets of organized religions, form the backbone of religious life. James's discussion of conversion, repentance, mysticism, and hope of reward and fears of punishment in the hereafter--as well as his observations on the religious experiences of such diverse thinkers as Voltaire, Whitman, Emerson, Luther, Tolstoy, and others--all support his thesis. "James's characteristic humor, his ability to put down the pretentious and to be unpretentious, and his willingness to take some risks in his choices of ancedotal data or provocative theories are all apparent in the book," noted Professor Martin E. Marty. "A reader will come away with more reasons to raise new questions than to feel that old ones have been resolved."

Pragmatism and Religion by Stuart E. Rosenbaum Pdf

This distinctive collection of classical and contemporary readings comes at a time when pragmatism is undergoing a renaissance across a spectrum of disciplines. Pragmatism and Religion addresses an important but overlooked issue: whether or not the deep passions and commitments of American pragmatism's central figures are independent of Western religious traditions. The first of the book's three sections samples pragmatism's religious roots. "Classical Sources" includes works by John Winthrop, Jonathan Edwards, Henry David Thoreau, and Ralph Waldo Emerson, as well as Charles Sanders Peirce's "Evolutionary Love," William James's "Philosophy" (chapter 18 of The Varieties of Religious Experience), and selections by John Dewey, W. E. B. Du Bois, John McDermott, and Richard Rorty. Part 2, "Contemporary Essays on the American Tradition of Religious Thought," features Richard Bernstein's "Pragmatism's Common Faith," Stuart Rosenbaum's "Morality and Religion," and Robert Westbrook's "Uncommon Faith," among others. Part 3, "Theism, Secularism, and Religion: Seeking a Common Faith" includes Raymond D. Boisvert's "What Is Religion?" Sandra B. Rosenthal's "Spirituality and the Spirit of American Pragmatism," Carl Vaught's "Dewey's Conception of the Religious Dimension of Experience," and Steven C. Rockefeller's "Faith and Ethics in an Interdependent World," among others. Stuart Rosenbaum's contemporary contributors are among the best in the fields of pragmatism and pragmatism in religion. A unique resource, Pragmatism and Religion will serve students of religion, history, and philosophy, as well as those in interdisciplinary core courses.
