Energy Manual by Manfred Hegger,Matthias Fuchs,Thomas Stark,Martin Zeumer Pdf

Energy Statistics Compilers' Manual by Department of Economic and Social Affairs Pdf

The Energy Statistics Compilers Manual (ESCM) is a publication that complements in a practical manner the International Recommendations for Energy Statistics (IRES), which provides a comprehensive methodological framework for the collection, compilation and dissemination of energy statistics in all countries irrespective of the level of development of their statistical system. In particular, IRES provides of a set of internationally agreed recommendations covering all aspects of the statistical production process, from the institutional and legal framework, basic concepts, definitions and classifications to data sources, data compilation strategies, energy balances, data quality issues and statistical dissemination. The ESCM is written primarily for practitioners that are tasked with building up or improving the energy statistics programme of a country or institution in a way that is consistent with the latest international standards and produces reliable and internationally comparable data. The ESCM aims to assist countries in the collection, analysis and dissemination of energy statistics to international standards. Its purpose is to complement IRES by providing explanations that make it easier to apply the principles defined in IRES in practical applications, to understand specific relationships that facilitate or complicate the adaptation of such principles to national situations and therefore provide practical ways to implement an energy statistics programme that is consistent with the established international recommendations.

The SAGES Manual on the Fundamental Use of Surgical Energy (FUSE) by Liane Feldman,Pascal Fuchshuber,Daniel B. Jones Pdf

The SAGES Manual on the Fundamental Use of Surgical Energy (FUSE) emphasizes good communication and promotes best practice for the use of electrosurgical, ultrasonic, and microwave energy sources in the operating theatre. This manual describes the basic technology of energy sources in the operating room and demonstrates the correct use and indications of energy sources in clinical practice. It also addresses the potential complications, hazards, and errors in the use of surgical energy sources and evaluates the potential interactions of energy sources with other medical devices. Any healthcare professional who has ever picked up an energy device in the OR such as a “Bovie” , Ultrasonic or bipolar instrument will better understand how it works, when to apply it, and what are the possible hazards and errors in its use. The SAGES Manual on the Fundamental Use of Surgical Energy (FUSE) is the first volume of its kind to provide such guidance and will be of great value to surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, endoscopists, and allied health care professionals who use these devices.

Clean Energy: Hydrogen/fuel Cells Laboratory Manual by Santhanam K S V,Takacs Gerald A,Miri Massoud J Pdf

This manual is designed for the use of hydrogen as a fuel in the fuel cells. The turn of the century has seen a realization of moving towards clean energy due to a variety of considerations ranging from global warming, anxiety to living in a healthy atmosphere, depletion of fossil fuels, oil slick in Gulf of Mexico resulting in disasters and so forth. Innumerable debates in the literature has led to the identification of hydrogen as the safest and efficient fuel over the other available fuels. This fuel can be used in two ways: a) direct combustion like gasoline and b) fuel cells. The use of it by the first method requires pure oxygen to be used for combustion; it is an expensive method involving oxygen storage and transportation. If oxygen is substituted by air in the combustion, it produces nitrogen oxides that are defying the definition of clean energy. The other method is to use it as a fuel cell for easy emission free transportation. Here chemical energy is converted to electrical energy directly in a fuel cell. To illustrate principles of related fuel cells, methanol and borohydride fuel cells are included in this manual. The nine experiments described here are designed for illustrating the concepts for the beginners and those motivated to go for clean energy. Contents: Hydrogen SafetyGaseous Properties of HydrogenDetermination of Fuel ValuePerformance Characteristics of Polymer Electrolyte Fuel CellProperties of Proton Exchange Membranes Used in Fuel CellsPerformance Characteristics of a Dissolved Methanol Fuel CellBorohydride Fuel Cell Performance CharacteristicsSolar Electrolyzer Fueled Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel CellHydrogen Storage Capacity of Hydrogen-Containing Compounds Readership: General audience interested in clean energy, global warming solutions, fuel cells, hydrogen gas safety tests; undergraduate students taking general chemistry course or energy as minor; graduate students who wish to learn the basic fuel cells, mechanical and electrical engineering students.
