Errant Gods by Erik Henry Vick Pdf

Hank Jensen doesn't believe in monsters--not the kind Stephen King writes about at any rate. Hank is one of New York's best criminal profilers, and he loves his job. But when he meets the Bristol Butchers, all that changes. They are a pair of psychopaths--cannibals. He chases them in spite of the disabling curse they cast on him, in spite of their threats to his family, and when he catches up to them, his horror begins. They claim to be gods--immortal, omnipotent--and they change into monsters before his eyes. Unable to stop them, the battle leaves him sick, despondent, broken. His career is at an end. His only respite is his family. Years later, the Butchers return to make good on their threats. When his family disappears on Halloween night, Hank decides his time for doing nothing is at an end. He must chase them to places he thought existed only in myth. He knows they have the power to raise monsters, mythical beings--even the dead--to block his path. How can he, a disabled mortal, overcome gods? How will he overcome his disability, his doubts? Pick up your copy of Errant Gods today and find out

Oh My Gods by Philip Freeman Pdf

From acclaimed writer and scholar Philip Freeman, a contemporary retelling of classic Greek and Roman mythology. The Greek and Roman myths have never died out; in fact they are as relevant today as ever in their sharp observations about human nature. For thousands of years they have inspired plays, operas, and paintings; today they live on in movies and video games. Oh My Gods is a contemporary retelling of some of the most popular myths by Philip Freeman, a noted classicist. These tales of errant gods, fantastic creatures, and human heroes are brought to life in fresh and modern versions. Powerful Zeus; his perpetually aggrieved wife, Hera; talented Apollo; beautiful Aphrodite; fierce Athena; the dauntless heroes Theseus and Hercules; and the doomed lovers Orpheus and Eurydice still inspire awe, give us courage, and break our hearts. From the astonishing tales of the Argonauts to the immortal narrative of the Battle of Troy, these ancient tales have inspired writers from Shakespeare to J. K. Rowling. In Philip Freeman’s vibrant retelling they will doubtless inspire a new generation of readers.

Dear Jim: Our History of Itis by John Barber Pdf

The ongoing battle between free individuals and our moribund institutions for the control of information resources, information technology and information systems began with the sexual gods. The chief god Atum, controller of Cosmos, declared sex ungodly and messy, outcomes unpredictable. A sexless god, Atum, though supreme, was unable to control Ra, Thoth, and the seven other sexual gods. With Atumic frustration Atum confined the sexual gods to the Solar System, but with a dire warning: if their activities destabilized the Cosmos they would feel the full force of Atumic wrath. Sibling squabbles between Ra and Thoth spawned endless conflict. Fear for their godly survival forced Ra and Thoth to confine their fight to the Earthly environment. One outcome: Homo Saps, a unique species combining Thought-processing with godlike features and hominid-animal sexuality. Both Ra and Thoth used Homo Saps as foot soldiers. Thoth invented Information Technology/Information System or ITIS (pronounced eye-tis) tools as weapons to help them free themselves from Ras inhibiting controls. Homo Saps used the ITIS tools in establishing, controlling and stabilizing the first Earthly civilizations: Ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Ancient India, and Ancient China at the direction of the gods. Homo Saps increasing skills with the ITIS tools allowed them to develop independent Thought processing and break free of godly controls. The Ancient Greek Homo Sap Aristotle and his philosopher predecessors captured the moment by developing their own ITIS applications and demonstrated Homo Saps Thought processing freedoms. They developed the first user-friendly ITIS tool that would change their Earthly reality forever: the 22-letter alphabet. Dear Jim: Our History of IT IS traces the development of the ITIS tools OralITIS, ImageITIS, CalendarITIS, WritingITIS, and AlphabetITIS and their impact on civilizations before the death of Aristotle.

God's Champion by Robert W. Butler Pdf

Job, Gods champion, offers experiential insight into the nature and workings of God. Job is not the main character of the book of Job; rather, it is God. The opening scene is in heaven, and Gods relationship with humanity is challenged. Jobs life becomes the arena of contention in this attack on God. As a result, Job loses family, wealth, and health. Job and his friends argue over Gods actions and mens experiences in the world. God clarifies that Job spoke what was right about Him. Here are a few important lessons from Jobs life: God wants a relationship with you. We need a mediator for our spiritual condition. God operates for His own glory. Suffering may be a part of Gods plan. Dont let the suffering temper your enthusiasm for the understanding offered by Gods champion. Jobs life illustrates a substantive spiritual relationship with the God of heaven. The more we know Him, the more we will value the relationship. Our relationship with Him facilitates our being made in His image. Learn to be a champion!

Romans: Theological Masterpiece (Volume 2) by Joseph R. Holder Pdf

Volume 2 of Joe Holder's exposition of Romans covers Romans chapters 9 through 16. The epistle to the Romans is, indeed, a "theological masterpiece." Against the dark background of man's tragic sinfulness, it paints the brilliant scene of God's gracious gift of righteousness through the Lord Jesus Christ. Then, it calls for a practical response of faith and godliness in the believer's daily walk of discipleship.

Diagonal Advance by Anthony D. Baker Pdf

Reveals how the divorce of divine perfection from human perfection undergirds the divorce of theology and philosophy. This work shows how these discourses were originally joined by the Church Fathers, to how they were separated in the Middle Ages and modern Anglicanism, to how they can be rejoined.

The Vision of God by K. E. Kirk Pdf

Based on the 1928 Bampton Lectures, The Vision of God was the first of Kenneth E. Kirk's three major books on moral theology. Drawing inspiration from the ascetic tradition of Christianity, Kirk advocates the priority of worship in ethical thought. Beginning with the sixth beatitude, he places the visio Dei front and centre throughout, placing himself in a eudaimonistic tradition that ranges from Irenaeus to Aquinas and the Shorter Catechism. Worship, he shows, offers the opportunity to discover and acknowledge something more valuable than the self, and thus contains the key to moral instruction. Although Kirk published an expanded 'complete edition' of The Vision of God in 1931, he notes in the preface to the shorter text presented here that 'what remains approximates to, though it is not quite identical with, the actual lectures as originally delivered.' The reader therefore has in their hands the essence of Kirk's thesis, which continues to prompt debate today.

PIPING ME HOME by FRANKIE BLODGETT Pdf

It is an arduous journey from 1944 to 2014 for the world is constantly changing. Some of these changes have been difficult to accept. However the one stable soothing factor in my life has been NATURES calming influence. This Book begins with my childhood as a boy growing-up in Chenango Forks, a small town located in upstate New York. My home was on the CHENANGO RIVER, which was my introduction to the amazing 'World of Nature'. I was so enthralled with the natural world that I dedicated the whole second chapter to it. Here is an excerpt from my poem, 'PURE MOUNTAINS STILL': Of poetry and song, the mountains e'er ring For the 'muses of Parnassus' still do sing. The glorious alpenglow still greet the eye And the slopes are still teaming with butterflies. The third chapter is devoted entirely to the oceans and the seas of the world. This topic continues throughout the book from the first poem: 'FREE AT SEA' which describes how deeply I love the sea to my last poem in this chapter: 'WITH THE POETS, I AGREE' The prism arcs of the rain bowed spray, Beauteously appeared in an amazing array; While the mystic flight of the blown spume, Frothed spiritedly from the breakers womb. The next several chapters deal with my Navy years, my faith and freedom. This is an excerpt from my poem: 'FREE SPIRIT': Freedom is a glorious state Far above the bonds of man, She floats upon the wings of the wind And never makes a plan. The eighth chapter is the theme of the book: 'PIPING ME HOME'. In this chapter are found many poems reflecting my opinions of reality and life's end, including: 'PREDETERMINED FATE', 'ICE BOUND NO MORE' and the title poem of the book: 'PIPING ME HOME". Finally the last chapter: 'JUST FOR FUN' is a collection of light poems-ENJOY!!
