Arthur Conan Doyle: Esoteric Writings by Arthur Conan Doyle Pdf

Arthur Conan Doyle had a longstanding interest in mystical subjects and remained fascinated by the paranormal. At the height of the Great War a change came over his beliefs. The deaths he saw around him made him rationalize that spiritualism was a "New Revelation" sent by God to bring solace to the bereaved. Collection of Esoteric Writings (Classic Reprint) by T. Subba Row Pdf

Excerpt from Collection of Esoteric Writings At noon on that day, he said his Guru called him to come, he was going to die, he was now about beginning his tapas mystical invocations and he did not wish to be disturbed. From that time on, he spoke to no one. When he died, a great star fell from the firmament of Indian con temporary thought. Between Subba Row, H. P. Blavatsky, Damodar and myself there was a close friendship. He was chiefly instrumental in having us invited to visit Madras in 1882, and in inducing us to choose this city as the per manent Head-quarters of the Theosophical Society. Subba Row was in confidential understanding with us about Damodar's mystical pilgrimage towards the North, and more than a year after the latter crossed into Tibet, he wrote him about himself and his plans. Subba Row told me of this long ago, and reverted to the subject the other day at one of my visits to his sick-bed. A dis pate - due in a measure to third parties - which widened into a breach, arose between H. P. B. And himself about certain philosophical questions, but to the last he spoke of her, to us and to his family, in the old friendly way. When we last saw each other we had a long talk about esoteric philosophy, and he said that as soon as he could get out, he should come to Head - quarters and draft several metaphysical questions that he wished Mr. Fawcett to discuss with him in the T/zeosolvbist. His interest in our movement Was unabated to the last, he read the 27180301911t regularly and was a subscriber to H. P. B.'s Lucifer. Esoteric Development by Rudolf Steiner Pdf

"You should not have any mystical ideas about meditation, nor should you think it is easy. Meditation must be completely clear, in the modern sense. Patience and inner soul energy are needed, and, above all, it depends on an act that no one else can do for you: it requires an inner resolve that you stick to. When you begin to meditate, you are performing the only completely free activity there is in human life" (Rudolf Steiner). This completely revised edition provides an ordered sequence of statements by Steiner on the development of higher, suprasensory knowing --Imagination, Inspiration, and Intuition. Nine chapters take the reader from the idea of inner development, through the cultural and evolutionary need for higher knowing, and then to examples of the practices and inner gestures required by this work. Steiner describes the necessary steps and stages, always insisting on the free, individual, and cognitive character of anthroposophic spiritual research. This essential inner guide is for anyone on a path of true spiritual development.

Secrecy and Esoteric Writing in Kabbalistic Literature by Jonathan Dauber Pdf

Secrecy and Esoteric Writing in Kabbalistic Literature examines the strategies of esoteric writing that Kabbalists have used to conceal secrets in their writings, such that casual readers will only understand the surface meaning of their texts while those with greater insight will grasp the internal meaning. In addition to a broad description of esoteric writing throughout the long literary history of Kabbalah, this work analyzes kabbalistic secrecy in light of contemporary theories of secrecy. It also presents case studies of esoteric writing in the work of four of the first kabbalistic authors—Abraham ben David, Isaac the Blind, Ezra ben Solomon, and Asher ben David—and thereby helps recast our understanding of the earliest stages of kabbalistic literary history. The book will interest scholars in Jewish mysticism and Jewish philosophy, as well as those working in medieval Jewish history. Throughout, Jonathan V. Dauber has endeavored to write an accessible work that does not require extensive prior knowledge of kabbalistic thought. Accordingly, it finds points of contact between scholars of various religious traditions.

Essential Tarot Writings by Donald Tyson Pdf

Explore Three Centuries of Vital Tarot Texts by Leading Authorities on Western Magic Featuring invaluable essays written by prominent occultists from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, this must-have collection presents the fascinating evolution of Tarot as a magical tool. Renowned occult scholar Donald Tyson has edited and annotated these works, and he offers his full English translation of two Tarot essays from Antoine Court de Gébelin's Monde Primitif. This compendium also provides, for the first time anywhere, a complete understanding of the essays on the English Method of playing card divination, an important precursor to reading Tarot's suit cards. Essential Tarot Writings reveals where many of our fundamental assumptions about the Tarot come from, including card meanings, Hebrew and Kabbalistic correspondences, and how the cards are used in ceremonial magic. All of the essays are connected by each century's understanding of Tarot and the influences these great thinkers had on one another. Showcasing esteemed writers like the Comte de Mellet, S. L. MacGregor Mathers, J. W. Brodie-Innes, and A. E. Waite, this resource gives you a comprehensive overview of the evolution of Tarot in Western magic.
