Have Your Say! by Council of Europe Pdf

Youth participation is not an end in itself, but a means of achieving positive changes in young people’s lives and of building better democratic societies. Participation is a fundamental human right recognised, among others, in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Participation is also a core principle of human rights and is a condition for effective democratic citizenship for all people. The aim of the Council of Europe’s youth policy is to provide young people with equal opportunities and experience which enable them to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies to play a full part in all aspects of society. Youth participation is at the core of youth policy in the Council of Europe, which includes co-management as a form of sharing power with youth representatives. Youth participation is promoted across the various sectors of the Council of Europe. The revised European Charter on the Participation of Young People in Local and Regional Life, adopted in May 2003 by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, is a standard-setting instrument for youth participation. It supports young people, youth workers, youth organisations and local authorities in promoting and enhancing meaningful youth participation at local and regional level across Europe. The manual “Have your say!” was produced to support local and regional authorities, youth organisations and young people who want to give young people a real say for a meaningful democratic youth participation. According to the Charter, participation is about having the right, the means, the space and the opportunity and, where necessary, the support to participate in and influence decisions and engage in actions and activities so as to contribute to building of a better society. The manual “Have your say!” is an educational and practical tool to support all those committed to making that right a reality for more young people in the Council of Europe member states.

The EU Better Regulation Agenda by Sacha Garben,Inge Govaere Pdf

Better Regulation in the EU is a perennial and topical question which has important implications for the future direction of EU law. While actions directed at improving the quality and accessibility of EU regulation are not novel, in recent years the Better Regulation Agenda has significantly affected the structural organisation and day-to-day operation of the EU legislative process. Yet, many questions about the future of the Agenda remain, not least in light of Brexit. Exploring the Better Regulation Agenda (and its relation to the overall EU legal and political order) necessitates an integrated, interdisciplinary approach. This edited volume presents insights from economics, political science and legal scholarship. Furthermore, to allow full understanding, it examines institutional practice, where the Agenda is made and shaped on a daily basis. Hence, the book features contributions from the perspective of the work of the main EU institutions: the European Commission, the Parliament, the Council and the Court of Justice. This results in a seminal overview of the subject, of interest to scholars and practitioners alike.

Young Person's Guide to the Residential Special Schools Standards by Roger Morgan Pdf

Residential special schools in England must follow rules, or Standards, that are set by the government. This guide tells you what the rules are, and how they apply to you and where you live. Use this full-colour illustrated guide to find out what should happen when you move into a residential special school and what that school should be doing for you while you live there. The guide covers lots of issues such as staying in touch with friends and family, food, care and education, working together, your health, getting the special help you need, and hobbies. It also tells you about how your school should be managed by the staff that work there. You can also find out how to make a complaint or what to do if you think the rules are being broken. This young person's guide to residential special schools is part of the series of guides about the National Minimum Standards for Residential Special Schools. There are two other guides available, one for parents and one for staff.
