Evil Games by Angela Marsons Pdf

The greater the Evil, the deadlier the game… When a rapist is found mutilated in a brutal attack, Detective Kim Stone and her team are called in to bring a swift resolution. But, as more vengeful killings come to light, it soon becomes clear that there is someone far more sinister at work. With the investigation quickly gathering momentum, Kim finds herself exposed to great danger and in the sights of a lethal individual undertaking their own twisted experiment. Up against a sociopath who seems to know her every weakness, for Detective Stone, each move she makes could be deadly. As the body count starts to mount, Kim will have to dig deeper than ever before to stop the killing. And this time - it’s personal. Absolutely unputdownable, nail-bitingly tense and with a twist that will put your jaw on the floor. If you love Karin Slaughter, Val McDermid or Robert Dugoni, this will keep you flipping through the pages long into the night, and desperate to read the rest in this multi-million-copy, international bestselling series. Watch out for more from Detective Kim Stone What readers are saying about Evil Games: ‘You will not put this down, you will not sleep and you will love every second of it!' Amazon Reviewer, 5 Stars ‘Exciting… chilling… totally thrilling. This is one book that exceeded all of my expectations… Get yourself ready to take a day off and immerse yourself in this book. It is worth it.’ Northern Crime ‘This story has everything... riveting, emotional, sad and most of all it has a depth that not many novels can claim to have… I highly recommend this one. Simply brilliant.’ Postcard Reviews ‘Wow wow wow… I loved this book from the first page to the last.’ Amazon Reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ‘A rollercoaster ride… full of twists, turns and red herrings. Just when you have cracked the case along comes a twist to send you in the opposite direction.' Ginger Book Geek ‘Gripping and emotive… I have read hundreds of authors in my time but Angela tops the bill.’ Amazon Reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ‘How do you guarantee an edge of seat reading experience? You read Angela Marsons.’ Amazon Reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ‘Angela Marsons has done it again! Evil Games is an absolutely cracking, five-star read – I devoured it in one sitting… I have, once again, been left panting in the corner in dire need of a cup of tea!’ Reading Room with a View ‘I'm a little bit speechless to be honest at just how incredible this book was... Evil Games is a must read book.’ Book Addict Shaun ‘Silent Scream (Book 1) was quite brilliant. Evil Games (Book 2) is EXCEPTIONAL. Clearly, the current rating system is broken as it’s unable to accommodate books of this calibre. So I give you – 6/5.’ Little Bookness Lane ‘Evil Games is a clever, action-packed journey into some of society's darkest places, crackling with tension and wit. And DI Kim Stone is the most fascinating character to arrive on the scene since Val McDermid gave us Tony Hill. This is a no-brainer. Read Evil Games. You won't regret it.’ Mark Edwards ‘Evil Games is a fabulously dark and chilling read… I am a huge fan of D.I. Kim Stone and can't recommend this series highly enough.’ By the Letter Book Reviews

The Umbrella Conspiracy by S. D. Perry Pdf

A remote mountain community is suddenly beseiged by a rash of grisly murders encroaching upon it from the surrounding forest. Bizarre reports start to spread, describing attacks from viscious creatures, some human...some not. At the centre of these deaths is a dark, secluded mansion belonging to the mysterious Umbrella Corporation. For years Umbrella has laboured within the mansion, unwatched, ostensibly conducting benign genetic research. Deployed to investigate the strange goings on is the Special Tactics and Rescue Squad (S.T.A.R.S), a paramilitary response unit boasting an unusual array of mission specialists. They believe they are ready for anything but nothing prepares them for the terror which awaits them when they penetrate the mansions long-locked doors. Behind the horror of nightmare creatures, results of forbidden experiments gone disasterously wrong, lies a conspiracy so vast in its scope and so insidious in its agenda that the S.T.A.R.S will be betrayed from within to ensure that the world never learns Umbrella's secret. And if any survive...they may well come to envy those who do not.

Lawyer Games by Dep Kirkland Pdf

In the early morning of May 2, 1981, Danny Hansford was shot dead by James Williams with a World War II vintage Luger in a historic Savannah mansion. For the next eight-and-a-half years, through four murder trials and intrigue which reached the highest levels of Georgia politics—including a former governor and the Georgia Supreme Court—lawyers battled over whether the 50-year-old Williams shot the 21-year-old Hansford in self-defense. The case inspired a best-selling book and a movie directed by Clint Eastwood. Written by Dep Kirkland, who arrived at the scene when Hansford’s body was still on the floor, Lawyer Games is the true story of this remarkable case. Kirkland, the Chief Assistant DA at the time, made the decision to arrest Williams and tried the first of four murder trials alongside the district attorney. His firsthand knowledge allows him not only to deeply analyze the murder case but also to expose the legal mischief spawned when a defendant facing unshakable physical evidence possesses almost unlimited funds. True crime aficionados will be drawn to the two stories told in the book: The riveting story of the case, its evidence (including facts never heard in the courtroom), trials and results, and the incredible eight-year campaign to beat a murder rap no matter what, with a look behind the curtain at a darker side of the American criminal justice system.

Simulating Good and Evil by Marcus Schulzke Pdf

Simulating Good and Evil shows that the moral panic surrounding violent videogames is deeply misguided, and often politically motivated, but that games are nevertheless morally important. Simulated actions are morally defensible because they take place outside the real world and do not inflict real harms. Decades of research purporting to show that videogames are immoral has failed to produce convincing evidence of this. However, games are morally important because they simulate decisions that would have moral weight if they were set in the real world. Videogames should be seen as spaces in which players may experiment with moral reasoning strategies without taking any actions that would themselves be subject to moral evaluation. Some videogame content may be upsetting or offensive, but mere offense does not necessarily indicate a moral problem. Upsetting content is best understood by applying existing theories for evaluating political ideologies and offensive speech.

International Perspectives on Rethinking Evil in Film and Television by Tüysüz, Dilan Pdf

Aestheticization of evil is a frequently used formula in cinema and television. However, the representation of evil as an aesthetic object pushes it out of morality. Moral judgments can be pushed aside when evil is aestheticized in movies or TV series because there is no real victim. Thus, situations such as murder or war can become a source of aesthetic pleasure. Narratives in cinema and television can sometimes be based on a simple good-evil dichotomy and sometimes they can be based on individual or social experiences of evil and follow a more complicated method. Despite the various ways evil is depicted, it is a moral framework in film and television that must be researched to study the implications of aestheticized evil on human nature and society. International Perspectives on Rethinking Evil in Film and Television examines the changing representations of evil on screen in the context of the commonness, normalization, aestheticization, marginalization, legitimization, or popularity of evil. The chapters provide an international perspective of the representations of evil through an exploration of the evil tales or villains in cinema and television. Through looking at these programs, this book highlights topics such as the philosophy of good and evil, the portrayal of heroes and villains, the appeal of evil, and evil’s correspondence with gender and violence. This book is ideal for sociologists, professionals, researchers and students working or studying in the field of cinema and television and practitioners, academicians, and anyone interested in the portrayal and aestheticization of evil in international film and television.
