Dynamics of Big Internet Industry Groups and Future Trends by Miguel Gómez-Uranga,Jon Mikel Zabala-Iturriagagoitia,Jon Barrutia Pdf

This book applies a new analytical framework to the study of the evolution of large Internet companies such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon and Samsung. It sheds light on the dynamics of business groups, which are approached as ‘business ecosystems,’ and introduces the concept of Epigenetic Economic Dynamics (EED), which is defined as the study of the epigenetic dynamics generated as a result of the adaptation of organizations to major changes in their respective environments. The book augments the existing literature on evolutionary economic thinking with findings from epigenetics, which are proving increasingly useful in analyzing the workings of large organizations. It also details the theoretical and conceptual nature of recent work based on evolutionary economics, mainly from the perspective of generalized Darwinism, resilience and related variety, and complements the work conducted on evolutionary economics by applying the analytical framework of EED. It makes it easier to forecast future dynamics on the Internet by proving that a sizable number of big business groups are veering from their initial paths to take unprecedented new directions as a result of competition pressure, and as such is a valuable resource for postgraduates and researchers as well as those involved in economics and innovation studies.

Future Net by Jim Ensor Pdf

The book highlights startling new ideas and developments in technology and software, then predicts the future of the Internet and technology usage in general. Evolution and personalization describe changes to: Human evolution - a rethinking of the role of technology in human evolution, outlining the role of the internet in changing communities Personal evolution - multiple identities on the web, cyborgs, biotechnology, cloning Infrastructure - the rise of the web, and future trends including .NET, peer-to-peer, portals Interfaces - the rise of Windows, Browsers and the story of 3D Internet Software - the rise of games, chat, web services, bots, and music downloads, and some more general types of evolution as relating to the Net Bot evolution - the rise of bots, their role on the internet, and the internet as a life form Virtual evolution - a stunning new theory about virtual existence and how we will end up as part of the web A wide ranging series of ground breaking new ideas are raised in the book as part of a new perspective about the world, including the following: Personalization is at the heart of recent developments of internet architecture and interfaces, a virtually unnoticed phenomenon as far as its range and over-arching influence. The unmet need for 'interactivity' is determining software success on the web. 'Bots' or software agents are emerging as a major new piece in the jigsaw of new software and architecture. Companion bots will emerge as our typical interface to computers - which extend into becoming 'Virtual Existence.' A restructure of the Net is proposed, via use of bots. New 'orange links' could link data in a new ways. Our 'identity' is changing as we develop multiple persona on the web - becoming personalized Our 'bodies' are changing by the combined impact of bionics, biotechnology, drugs, spare parts and are also being personalized. Ideas can be alive as memes, but can the Internet become conscious too? Darwin's theory of evolution - has the way it operates on human beings changed? Technolution - technology's effect on evolution is the driving engine of change in our society today, rather than other theories of social change It all comes together in a completely new perspective on technology, the Internet, and the future.

Structural Change and Evolution of China’s Internet Society by Liu Shaojie Pdf

This title investigates China’s network society, both its online cyber society and offline real world society, by analyzing the trends and social foundations of society as network and the social challenges it poses, as well as structural changes in social space and social interaction. The first part of the book examines how network society in China forms and develops, analyzing the challenges and structural changes it poses. The author studies network power and uncertainties that lies in the supply, flow, and reception of a massive amount of information, revealing how this influences the government's administrative power as well as governance measures to stabilize social cohesion. The second part first discusses the social restructuring and characteristics of network social space in China. Based on case studies of several momentous social events, the spatial change characterized by an integration of absence and presence space and its influence on social interaction and experience is elucidated, including active absence interaction, mediated experience, spatial representation, and social identities of network aggregation. The book will be a crucial reference for scholars and students studying sociology, network sociology, and contemporary Chinese society.

Advances in Internet, Data & Web Technologies by Leonard Barolli Pdf

This book presents original contributions to the theories and practices of emerging Internet, data, and web technologies and their applicability in businesses, engineering, and academia. Internet has become the most proliferative platform for emerging large-scale computing paradigms. Among these, data and web technologies are two most prominent paradigms, in a variety of forms such as data centers, cloud computing, mobile cloud, mobile web services, and so on. These technologies altogether create a digital ecosystem whose corner stone is the data cycle, from capturing to processing, analysis, and visualization. The investigation of various research and development issues in this digital ecosystem is boosted by the ever-increasing needs of real-life applications, which are based on storing and processing large amounts of data. As a key feature, it addresses advances in the life-cycle exploitation of data generated from the digital ecosystem data technologies that create value for the knowledge and businesses toward a collective intelligence approach. Researchers, software developers, practitioners, and students interested in the field of data and web technologies find this book useful and a reference for their activity.

Large Scale Networks by Radu Dobrescu,Florin Ionescu Pdf

This book offers a rigorous analysis of the achievements in the field of traffic control in large networks, oriented on two main aspects: the self-similarity in traffic behaviour and the scale-free characteristic of a complex network. Additionally, the authors propose a new insight in understanding the inner nature of things, and the cause-and-effect based on the identification of relationships and behaviours within a model, which is based on the study of the influence of the topological characteristics of a network upon the traffic behaviour. The effects of this influence are then discussed in order to find new solutions for traffic monitoring and diagnosis and also for traffic anomalies prediction. Although these concepts are illustrated using highly accurate, highly aggregated packet traces collected on backbone Internet links, the results of the analysis can be applied for any complex network whose traffic processes exhibit asymptotic self-similarity, perceived as an adaptability of traffic in networks. However, the problem with self-similar models is that they are computationally complex. Their fitting procedure is very time-consuming, while their parameters cannot be estimated based on the on-line measurements. In this aim, the main objective of this book is to discuss the problem of traffic prediction in the presence of self-similarity and particularly to offer a possibility to forecast future traffic variations and to predict network performance as precisely as possible, based on the measured traffic history.
