Exposed by Ben Malisow Pdf

Discover why privacy is a counterproductive, if not obsolete, concept in this startling new book It's only a matter of time-- the modern notion of privacy is quickly evaporating because of technological advancement and social engagement. Whether we like it or not, all our actions and communications are going to be revealed for everyone to see. Exposed: How Revealing Your Data and Eliminating Privacy Increases Trust and Liberates Humanity takes a controversial and insightful look at the concept of privacy and persuasively argues that preparing for a post-private future is better than exacerbating the painful transition by attempting to delay the inevitable. Security expert and author Ben Malisow systematically dismantles common notions of privacy and explains how: Most arguments in favor of increased privacy are wrong Privacy in our personal lives leaves us more susceptible to being bullied or blackmailed Governmental and military privacy leads to an imbalance of power between citizen and state Military supremacy based on privacy is an obsolete concept Perfect for anyone interested in the currently raging debates about governmental, institutional, corporate, and personal privacy, and the proper balance between the public and the private, Exposed also belongs on the shelves of security practitioners and policymakers everywhere.

Gulf War and Health by Institute of Medicine,Board on Health Promotion and Disease Prevention,Committee on Gulf War and Health: Literature Review of Pesticides and Solvents Pdf

Gulf War and Health, Volume 2, is the second in a series of congressionally-mandated studies by the Institute of Medicine that provides a comprehensive assessment of the available scientific literature on potential health effects of exposure to certain biological, chemical, and environmental agents associated with the Gulf War. In this second study, the committee evaluated the published, peer-reviewed literature on exposure to insecticides and solvents thought to have been present during the 1990-1991 war. Because little information exists on actual exposure levels â€" a critical factor when assessing health effects â€" the committee could not draw specific conclusions about the health problems of Gulf War veterans. However, the study found some evidence, although usually limited, to link specific long-term health outcomes with exposure to certain insecticides and solvents. The next phase of the series will examine the literature on potential health effects associated with exposure to selected environmental pollutants and particulates, such as oil-well fires and jet fuels.

HIV and AIDS by Simon Uchenna Ortuanya Pdf

This book provides a detailed and timely analysis of key regulatory and legal issues arising in the context of HIV and AIDS. The ten chapters cover the core issues central to an understanding of law and public health as concerns AIDS. Whilst the book focuses on how Nigerian law applies to HIV and AIDS, the author draws heavily on materials from other jurisdictions. There are many parallels that exist between the application of law and governance considerations in the AIDS pandemic that resonate with other infectious diseases including Covid-19, therefore the book is widely relevant to public health law in communicable disease contexts. Topics covered: overview and origin of the HIV and AIDS epidemic; legal and institutional framework of the HIV and AIDS epidemic in Nigeria; human rights and the epidemic; decriminalisation of HIV and AIDS in Nigeria; HIV and AIDS and vulnerable groups; HIV and AIDS and patents; HIV and AIDS and sports; international organisations and programmes on HIV; judicial responses to HIV and AIDS; and global pandemics and control.

Rowdy by Christopher Madsen Pdf

When Christopher Madsen made the snap decision-perhaps a rash decision-to buy and renovate the famous 1916 racing yacht for which this story is named, he could scarcely have imagined the consequences that were to follow. During the renovation Madsen's investigation of the original owner, New York senator Holland Sackett Duell, uncovered a remarkable true life 1920s adventure and love story; one which fully brings to life the era and flair of Gatsby and Hemmingway yet, by contrast, Rowdy is completely true, historically significant and meticulously documented in support of the authenticity. The reader first walks in Duell's footsteps as he departs New York in 1918 to participate in the Great War (the most detailed accounting ever written on New York's 306th Field Artillery, 77th Division). Highly decorated upon return, the adventure continues as Duell is immersed in politics at the highest level, the birth of Hollywood, sailing competitions with some of the richest men in America, fortunes and mansions and love affairs as well as scandalous affairs. A newly unearthed gem in American history, Rowdy will enjoyably transport the reader back in time to the Golden Age of Yachting-AND EVER SO MUCH MORE!A multi-award winning story and a beautiful coffee table book; 8 A1/2 X 11 hardcover with the look of worn, vintage leather, gold leaf stamping, rounded spine woven burgundy book mark.
