The Case for Faith Bible Study Guide Revised Edition by Lee Strobel,Garry D. Poole Pdf

Does believing in Christ mean refusing to ask hard questions in the midst of doubt? Doubt is familiar territory for Lee Strobel, the former atheist and award-winning author of books for skeptics and Christians alike. But he believes that faith and reason go hand in hand, and that Christianity is, in rational terms, a defensible religion. In this six-session video Bible study (DVD/digital video sold separately), Strobel explores the most common emotional obstacles to faith in Christ, including: The natural inclination to wrestle with faith and doubt. The troubling presence of evil and suffering in the world. The exclusivity of the Christian gospel. Behind each of these considerations is the question: Can I doubt and still be a Christian? Through compelling personal stories and expert testimony--combined with discussion and personal reflection cues facilitated by contributor Garry Poole--Christians and spiritual seekers will learn how to overcome these obstacles, deepen their spiritual convictions, and find new confidence that Christianity is a reasonable faith. Sessions include: The Challenge of Faith Dealing with Doubt Evil and Suffering, Part 1 Evil and Suffering, Part 2 Why Is Jesus the Only Way to God? The Power of Faith Designed for use with The Case for Faith Revised Video Study 9780310698814 (sold separately).

The Case for a Creator Bible Study Guide Revised Edition by Lee Strobel,Garry D. Poole Pdf

"My road to atheism was paved by science...ironically, so was my later journey to God." Journalist and award-winning author of The Case for Christ Lee Strobel examines the idea that science isn't the enemy of faith, but that it provides a solid foundation for belief in God. New scientific discoveries point to the incredible complexity of our universe, a complexity best explained by the existence of a Creator. This six-session video study (DVD/digital video sold separately) invites participants to encounter the evidence of a Creator. Join Strobel in reexamining the theories that once led him away from God. Pastors, small group leaders, and individuals seeking resources that answer tough questions about the existence of God and the claims of rationality will find compelling answers in The Case for a Creator study, investigating probing questions like: Where do science and faith overlap or agree? As a form of knowledge, what are the weaknesses of science and rationality? How much can I depend on science while still have a thriving faith? Is faith in God ever based on rationality? Sessions include: Science and God Doubts about Darwinism The Evidence of Cosmology The Fine-tuning of the Universe The Evidence of Biochemistry The DNA and the Origin of Life Designed for use with the Case for a Creator Revised Video Study 9780310699606 (sold separately).

Faith Under Fire by Daniel J. Simundson Pdf

Daniel Simundson shows how the Bible can speak to the universal human experience of suffering. He examines various biblical responses to suffering and explains what the New Testament can add to the thought of such classic works as the books of Job, Ecclesiastes, and the prophets. This book, written for the general reader, is also full of wisdom for caregivers, including clergy, counselors, and laypersons. Contents: 1. The Basic Biblical View of Suffering 2. The Power of Negative Thinking 3. Suffering for Others 4. God, Job, and the Counselors 5. Is There Any Hope? 6. What Is New in the New Testament? 7. Comfort and Hope Professor Simundson suggests fresh ways for the resources of the Bible and demands of human life to meet each other. Faith Under Fire will be useful to Christians who in times of crisis wonder why and in times of well-being want to reflect on the meaning of life and faith. -- Walter Brueggemann This readable and wide-ranging introduction to an important subject will be of great value to Christian laypeople, students, and clergy who are interested in one of the deep mysteries of faith. -- David M. Gunn This book was originally published by Augsburg in 1980. Daniel J. Simundson is Professor of Old Testament at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. He received his B.D. degree from Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and his Ph.D. degree from Harvard University, where he was also a teaching fellow. Throughout his career, Simundson has maintained what he considers the equally important roles of pastor and scholar. Among his other books are The Message of Job and Where Is God in My Suffering?

Faith Under Fire by Elizabeth McQuoid,McQuoid Elizabeth Pdf

This study guide is based on Daniel chapters 1-6. The Israelites living in exile in Babylon were troubled as to how they could "sing the Lord's song in a strange land." Christians today face a similar dilemma--how can we live as Christians in a post-Christian world without losing our distinctives? Daniel and his three friends model cooperation without compromise and show us how we can faithfully serve God in a world that has turned its back on him. - 6 studies with leaders notes - Suggestions for further study for those who want to take issues deeper

Faith Under Fire by Henry G. Wiebe Pdf

Why Read This Book? Unless we hide our faith as Christians, we will occasionally be somebody's target. Do we settle for: "You have your beliefs and I have mine, let's leave it at that"? Or do we take to heart the admonition of 1 Peter 3:15: "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have."? Taking the latter course will undoubtedly launch us into a series of joys and fears. It will test our faith, affect friendships and maybe even put our family at risk. This story is an attempt to portray the battles of an ordinary small town man who tries to balance commitment to work, family, community and his Christian faith with some joyful fruit and some heart wrenching results. Henry Wiebe was born in Hearst, Ontario but moved with his parents to Abbotsford, B.C. at age 9. After graduating from a Christian Mennonite high school he entered the elementary school teaching profession for 24 years, 15 as a principal. He was then invited to join the staff of Sevenoaks Alliance Church in Abbotsford as Pastor for Christian Education. After 10 years on staff there Henry served in Kijabe, Kenya as a volunteer teacher at Moffat Bible College for one year while his wife, Helen, assisted in station administration. Upon returning to Canada he became the Senior Pastor of Oliver Alliance Church for nearly 7 years and has since retirement served as voluntary Pastor for Seniors in the same church. Play with Fire Study Guide by Bianca Juarez Olthoff Pdf

In this five-session video based Bible study (DVD/digital video sold separately), Bianca Juarez Olthoff delivers a bible-infused message that will help women gain new insight into God's character, discover the personal and powerful nature of the Holy Spirit, and understand the unique fire God places in each person, helping them to fulfill their God-given calling and Kingdom purpose. Fire can burn and destroy but it can also refine and bring beautiful new life. In each powerful video session you will be reminded, or perhaps learn for the first time, that God has HUGE dreams for you. He's whispering in the wind and speaking through the fire and shouting in silence the extraordinary dream He is birthing in you. His dream for you is far greater than the dream you have for yourself. It's not your identity or income or influence that will make this happen. Like Zechariah 4:6 says, "It's not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit," says the Lord. God isn't waiting until you have more resources or a husband or a job so he can use you. He can use you now. Stop asking when you are going to get your gifts or talents or calling and see what's in your hand. You need to play with some fire. Sessions include: Crying Out Surrender God's Promises Community Holy Spirit Designed for use with the Play with Fire Video Study 97803100880707 (sold separately).
