The Way of the Dragon or the Way of the Lamb by Jamin Goggin,Kyle Strobel Pdf

Pastor Jamin Goggin and theology professor Kyle Strobel invite you on a journey to uncover Jesus’ seemingly contradictory way to power: weakness. Why do so many rock-star pastors implode under the spotlight? How have so many Christian leaders and institutions been lured by toxic and abusive power? Why are so many Christians tempted to chase worldly success and status? Because, according to Jamin Goggin and Kyle Strobel, rather than seeking kingdom power embodied by Jesus, we have embraced a form of power that is antithetical to the cross. In The Way of the Dragon or the Way of the Lamb, Goggin and Strobel paint a richly biblical vision of power through weakness. This revised and updated edition features a brand-new chapter for those who’ve been impacted by toxic and abusive power. Join the authors on a journey to gather wisdom from great sages of the faith such as J. I. Packer, Dallas Willard, Marva Dawn, John Perkins, James Houston, and Eugene Peterson. Listen in on their conversations to rediscover the wisdom of the cross and the power that truly sets us free.

Follow the Way by Lars Coburn Pdf

Follow the Way is about how the virtues of humility, gratitude, and simplicity impact prayer and a relationship with God. We learn these virtues from the life of Jesus. Like the dust Jesus kicked up stuck to the sweaty disciples as they followed close behind, our habits and practices of listening, being, and seeing stick on those following us. Humility teaches us to listen. A relationship cannot be a one-sided conversation--humility reminds us to quiet our own voice enough to recognize the voice of God in our lives. Gratitude teaches us to be present. A relationship cannot be based solely on the past or the future--we need to recognize God in the present, in ordinary moments of life. Simplicity teaches us to see. A relationship cannot have clarity without each understanding the other--we need to clear out the noise and interference in order to recognize God's will and plan for our life. Humility, gratitude, and simplicity empower us to pray intimately and experience an intimate relationship where we truly know God, not just stuff about God.

Following the Celtic Way by Ian Bradley Pdf

A quarter-century after writing the acclaimed The Celtic Way, Ian Bradley, one of the foremost experts on the spiritual beliefs and practices of the indigenous Christian communities in the British Isles in the early Middle Ages, revisits the original sources and makes a substantial reappraisal of Celtic spirituality. Following the Celtic Way challenges many of the myths and romanticized portrayals of Celtic Christianity and shows evidence of the harder edge and demanding austerity of the lives and spirituality of believers from this time. This book sits among the most insightful and up-to-date introductions to this distinctive and evocative expression of faith and draws out its themes that are most relevant to us today. It also offers practical spiritual guidance on how to follow the Celtic Way in the contemporary world.

The Way to Follow the Way by Don Little Pdf

When Jesus wasn't ministering to people, He was teaching the disciples how to do what He did. "The Way to Follow the Way" is a step by step instruction manual in learning to follow Jesus who is the Way, using the same methods He used to teach His disciples. - Why do people struggle with their old sinful nature? - What actually changes when you're born again? - How do you receive everything you need for life and godliness? - What were the final instructions of Jesus? These questions and many more will be answered with clear, concise and detailed information. It begins with why we believe in the God of creation, quickly explains the knowledge explosion Daniel prophesied would happen in the last days, then proceeds to the first steps a Christian takes and continues all the way through with how to make more disciples the same way Jesus did. After Jesus ascended back to Heaven and the disciples started to spread the Gospel, they went about praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved. Wouldn't you like to have the ability to positively influence the people where you live? www.omega-ministries.com

The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer Pdf

ECPA BESTSELLER • A compelling emotional and spiritual case against hurry and in favor of a slower, simpler way of life “As someone all too familiar with ‘hurry sickness,’ I desperately needed this book.”—Scott Harrison, New York Times best-selling author of Thirst “Who am I becoming?” That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. Outwardly, he appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren’t pretty. So he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: “Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.” It wasn’t the response he expected, but it was—and continues to be—the answer he needs. Too often we treat the symptoms of toxicity in our modern world instead of trying to pinpoint the cause. A growing number of voices are pointing at hurry, or busyness, as a root of much evil. Within the pages of this book, you’ll find a fascinating roadmap to staying emotionally healthy and spiritually alive in the chaos of the modern world.

Follow the New Way by Melissa May Borja Pdf

An incisive look at Hmong religion in the United States, where resettled refugees found creative ways to maintain their traditions, even as Christian organizations deputized by the government were granted an outsized influence on the refugees’ new lives. Every year, members of the Hmong Christian Church of God in Minneapolis gather for a cherished Thanksgiving celebration. But this Thanksgiving takes place in the spring, in remembrance of the turbulent days in May 1975 when thousands of Laotians were evacuated for resettlement in the United States. For many Hmong, passage to America was also a spiritual crossing. As they found novel approaches to living, they also embraced Christianity—called kev cai tshiab, “the new way”—as a means of navigating their complex spiritual landscapes. Melissa May Borja explores how this religious change happened and what it has meant for Hmong culture. American resettlement policies unintentionally deprived Hmong of the resources necessary for their time-honored rituals, in part because these practices, blending animism, ancestor worship, and shamanism, challenged many Christian-centric definitions of religion. At the same time, because the government delegated much of the resettlement work to Christian organizations, refugees developed close and dependent relationships with Christian groups. Ultimately the Hmong embraced Christianity on their own terms, adjusting to American spiritual life while finding opportunities to preserve their customs. Follow the New Way illustrates America’s wavering commitments to pluralism and secularism, offering a much-needed investigation into the public work done by religious institutions with the blessing of the state. But in the creation of a Christian-inflected Hmong American animism we see the resilience of tradition—how it deepens under transformative conditions.
