Fresh from The Word 2024 by David Painting Pdf

What will the world be like in a year's time? What changes will we have seen, and what global events will be fresh in our thoughts? What highs and lows will we have encountered, and what surprises will we have had that bring unexpected joy? And in the midst of all those things, how will we make sense of it all? That's where Fresh from The Word comes in! This edition tells the whole story of the Bible, so we have a framework in which to better understand each part. In addition, readings through 1 Chronicles culminate with Solomon building the Temple, and those in Mark and Luke show us how the Master Builder came and lived amongst us. We see how God began to build his church, looking at leaders in the New Testament, and how Paul encouraged one of those leaders as we read his letters to Timothy. And when the building gets broken, we study how to be reconciled, with Nehemiah offering a worked example of how God uses his people to rebuild. Finally, the Song of Solomon reveals the aim of it all - intimate, loving relationship with God himself. Fresh from The Word 2024 aims to help us build the discipline of Bible reading into our lives so we are grounded in God's word and our faith may deepen and develop. By offering accessible and engaging material, it aids our understanding of the Bible and helps us understand it from different Christian perspectives.

Greek Word Study by Chris Palmer Pdf

“Flour. Sheep. Coins. Wheat. Jesus never abandoned the familiarity of His time because what He had to say was so celestial or deep. Instead, He took advantage of what people already understood. In doing so, He didn’t just leave a way of salvation for us, but also a pattern of teaching to follow. This alone was my inspiration for how I chose to write Greek Word Study.”—author Chris Palmer In a follow-up to his highly acclaimed book Letters from Jesus: Studies from the Seven Churches of Revelation, the Rev. Chris Palmer has written Greek Word Study: 90 Ancient Words That Unlock Scripture. With wit, humor, grace, and scholarship, Chris offers biblical insights while teaching Koine Greek words and phrases one delightful bite at a time. Unlike other books that overwhelm readers with Greek grammar, word formation, tenses, and the like, Chris makes the language accessible to anyone, using modern stories and analogies that engage readers and draw them into the Scriptures. Learning some Greek words and phrases helps you read the Bible in high definition! “You don’t need to be a scholar to read this book and you don’t need to know an ounce of Greek either. In fact, you don’t even have to really know much about the Bible at all,” Chris says. “All you need to do is just kick back and enjoy.”

A Fresh Look at Genesis 1-2 by Gary W Schneider Pdf

One of this book’s main themes is how God’s ‘Book of Nature’ is concordant with His ‘Book of Scripture’. In their writings, many of the pioneers of the Scientific Revolution often referred to God’s two ‘Books’. These brilliant naturalists were also devout Christians. But that was back then. Is modern science actually compatible with Scripture? More to the point, are the findings of 21st-century science concordant with the Genesis creation story? What else does the text of Genesis 1-2 have to say? While making an honest effort to answer those questions, some vitally-important theological concepts (which were introduced by Moses in the first two chapters of Genesis) are also examined and discussed in this volume. This comprehensive study (on how modern science is concordant with the intended meaning of the text of Genesis 1-2) has many useful features, including the following: Much of the first two parts of the book consists of background material on: (1) logic, (2) history and philosophy of science, and (3) ‘scientific method’, as well as (4) basic geological principles, (5) descriptions of Plate Tectonic theory, and (6) the principles and methods of radiometric dating. This background material is designed to help the reader to understand the implications of the empirical evidence presented in Part Two: God’s Book of Nature. Similarly, there is also extensive material on: (1) Biblical interpretation and hermeneutics, (2) textual criticism, (3) the history of ancient Israel, (4) development of the Hebrew language, and (5) some of the basic elements of Biblical Hebrew. This material is given prior to looking at the literary structure and genre of the Genesis 1-2 text, and then conducting thorough and complete exegetical analyses of the various textual units of Genesis 1-2 in Part Four: God’s Book of Scripture. Prior to the exegetical analyses for each of the textual units of Genesis 1-2, (1) the Biblical Hebrew text, (2) a standard English translation, and (3) an Interlinear version of the text of that unit are provided. The Interlinear version consists of (a) the Hebrew text, with (b) SBL transliterations and (c) English glosses below each one of the Hebrew words. Color coding and other types of annotations/highlighting are used throughout Part Four: God’s Book of Scripture, in order to help the reader identify important Biblical Hebrew elements, including recurring phrases, important BH words, and key BHVS verb forms. There are more than 2000 detailed footnotes. Many of these footnotes also cross-reference other topics in the book to make it easier for the reader to refer back to a discussion of some important theme or concept. Excerpts from the entries of reputable Hebrew and Greek lexicons (for words written in the original languages of the Biblical text) are also footnoted. An Appendix is included with a Key to Transliteration and Pronunciation for Biblical Hebrew graphemes; it also has a short section on Biblical Hebrew Accent Markings. Numerous detailed, colored figures are sprinkled throughout the text. In many of these figures, the artwork itself is worth the inexpensive price of the digital edition of this book. Part Six: The Good News is worth reading as a stand-alone exposition of God’s Grace, but it also helps put the rest of the book in context. Although the most common (and logical) way to read A Fresh Look at Genesis 1-2 is from start to finish, this 1100-page book was also intended to be used as a reference work. Footnotes direct the reader back to pertinent material in preceding chapters that might not have been read already (or that readers might want to revisit, in order to refresh their memory on some topic). Diagnosing and Treating Medicus Incomprehensibilis by Oscar Linares,David T. Daly,Gertrude A. Daly Pdf

Diagnosing and Treating Medicus Incomphensibilis is a book of case studies on revising medical writing into plain English. It is a companion to Plain English for Doctors and Other Medical Scientists (Oxford University Press, 2017). It gives more practice to help the reader master skills in plain English medical writing. The 12 case studies are based on excerpts from articles published in leading medical journals. The excerpts cover a wide range of medical topics. Each case study looks at one excerpt, between 56 and 308 words long, that shows many classic symptoms of medicus incomprehensibilis - those overused writing habits that make medical writing hard to read. The case study asks questions, and gives short exercises, to guide the reader through the process of diagnosing the symptoms of medicus incomprehensibilis. The reader writes their prescription and revises to treat the symptoms. After each case study, the authors give their answers, prescription and revision. This book is intended for doctors and other medical scientists who write for medical journals, and anyone who aspires to do so. It is intended for writers at all levels, from veteran authors to students. It includes writers in related fields such as public health, pharmacology, nursing and life sciences. It is designed for self-study, seminar or classroom use.
