Fresh Wind of the Spirit by Kenneth C. Kinghorn Pdf

"In the course of his teaching, Jesus compared the Holy Spirit's working to the wind: 'You hear the sound of it, but you do not know whence it comes or whither it goes' (John 3:8). Although the source of the wind lies beyond human understanding, its effects can clearly be seen all around us." Using heartwarming, firsthand illustrations, Kenneth C. Kinghorn unfolds a clear explanation of the Spirit-filled life. Through the Holy Spirit there is unending joy and comfort meant for every individual who is earnest and receptive to a spiritual revival. The author points out that life today brings many demands upon us. Each of us admits that we need "something beyond ourselves. We want solutions that reach down to the root issues of life and offer meaning to us in the inner sanctuary of our souls." Fresh Wind of the Spirit provides an answer for those seeking a renewed zest to live in our hectic and often impersonal world.

Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire by Jim Cymbala Pdf

The Times Are Urgent God Is on the Move Now Is the Moment to ... ask God to ignite his fire in your soul! Pastor Jim Cymbala believes that Jesus wants to renew his people-to call us back from spiritual dead ends, apathy, and lukewarm religion. Cymbala knows the difference firsthand. Thirty-five years ago his own church, the Brooklyn Tabernacle, was a struggling congregation of twenty. Then they began to pray ... God began to move ... street-hardened lives by the hundreds were changed by the love of Christ ... and today they are more than ten thousand strong. The story of what happened to this broken-down church in one of America's toughest neighborhoods points the way to new spiritual vitality in the church and in your own life. Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire shows what the Holy Spirit can do when believers get serious about prayer and the gospel. As this compelling book reveals, God moves in life-changing ways when we set aside our own agendas, take him at his word, and listen for his voice.

Fresh Wind Blowing by Steve Harper Pdf

A fresh wind of God's Spirit is blowing on the earth today, and as in times past, God is inviting us to raise our sails and move forward with the power and direction that reflects our commitment to God's will. Some are calling it "a new pentecost," but whatever name is given, we are living in a time when we have an opportunity to connect with God's renewing work. One specific manifestation of this movement is "the new monasticism." This book is an invitation to explore it and embrace the dynamics it contains.

Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire by Jim Cymbala Pdf

MORE THAN ONE MILLION COPIES SOLD For anyone seeking to live at the center of God's purposes, this well-loved book points the way to new spiritual vitality in the church and in your own life. A classic must-read for readers looking for hope and transformation in the church today, Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire shows what the Holy Spirit can do when believers get serious about prayer and the gospel. As this compelling book reveals, God moves in life-changing ways - calling us back from spiritual dead ends, apathy, and lukewarm religion - when we set aside our own agendas, take him at his word, and listen for his voice. Pastor Jim Cymbala knows from personal experience. Back in the early 1970s his own church, the Brooklyn Tabernacle, was a struggling congregation of twenty. Then they began to pray, God began to move, and street-hardened lives by the hundreds were changed with the love of Christ. Today, they are nearly ten thousand strong. In this twentieth anniversary edition, Cymbala updates the classic stories, including that of his own daughter, Chrissy Cymbala Toledo. He talks about how the church has grown and how God helped the church move from its location on Flatbush Avenue to a larger facility that the growing church couldn't "afford" as God continues to dramatically reshape the life stories of so many people who encounter Christ and the power of the gospel. This message of hope and transformation continues. Also available in Spanish, Fuego vivo, viento fresco.

Life Interrupted by Priscilla Shirer Pdf

From telemarketers to traffic jams to twenty-item shoppers in the ten-item line, our lives are full of interruptions. They're often aggravating, sometimes infuriating, and can make us want to tell people what we really think about them. But they also tell us something quite important about ourselves. The prophet Jonah's life was interrupted by a clear call of God that made him mad enough and scared enough to run in the completely opposite direction. Yet it wasn't really an interruption. It was an opportunity for Jonah to be involved in something the likes of which the Old Testament world had never seen: national revival in a Gentile country. What if Jonah had seen God's interruption for what it truly was—a divine intervention that held more adventure and possibility than any other thing he could have been doing at the time? What could have felt any better than being directly in the center of God's will? Yet we play it that same way—always running from major pains and minor problems that just don't seem to suit us at the time. Who knows what we're missing by being so interruption avoidant? In this very personal account of opportunities lost and lessons learned, popular conference speaker and author Priscilla Shirer shows how to embrace the amazing freedom and fulfillment that comes from going with God, even when He's going against your grain. .

Welcome, Holy Spirit by Gordon T. Smith Pdf

World Guild Award Winner As the renowned scholar Thomas Oden noted, "No subject of Christian teaching is more prone to fanaticism and novelty and subjectivism than that of the Holy Spirit." The Bible's own metaphors for the Spirit are as elusive as they are evocative—wind, oil, flame, water, dove—making pneumatology a mysterious study. But shying away from the topic is no solution. Gordon Smith encourages us to seek both fresh understanding and fresh experience of the Spirit through openness to learning more, no matter what our theological tradition. In this way, as we hold biblical convictions firmly but gracefully, the guiding principles of discernment and humility will help us intentionally live Spirit-responsive lives day by day. Welcome, Holy Spirit is a much-needed master class with a trustworthy and encouraging teacher. How can we cultivate an understanding of the Holy Spirit that helps us experience the presence of the Spirit in worship, in witness, in joy and sorrow, in seasons of blessing and times of difficulty alike, all the while honoring the fullness of the Trinity? An attentiveness to the Spirit need not replace Christ as the focus of our lives and worship but can rather bring us truly into the presence of the living and ascended Lord. It is to this end that we pray, "Welcome, Holy Spirit."

Fresh Faith by Jim Cymbala Pdf

Pastor Jim Cymbala calls us back to a fiery, passionate preoccupation with God that will restore what the enemy has stolen from us: our first love for Jesus, our zeal, our troubled children, our wounded marriages, our broken and divided churches.Born out of the heart and soul of The Brooklyn Tabernacle, the message of Fresh Faith is illustrated by true stories of men and women whose lives have been changed through the power of faith. Cymbala writes, “Real faith is produced when our hearts draw near to God himself and receive his promises deep within.”That kind of faith can transform your life—starting today, if you choose.“Jim Cymbala is an exciting reminder of God’s desire to bless and use any faithful and trusting follower of our Lord in supernatural ways.”—Dr. Bill Bright, Founder and President, Campus Crusade for Christ International

Fresh Wind by Greg Amundson Pdf

"The same Spirit that empowered Jesus Christ to live a life of perfect obedience to the will of the Father, succeed in every aspect of His ministry, and accomplish the supernatural works that God called Him to do, is the very same Spirit alive in you (and keep in mind-this is the Sovereign Spirit of God-the Third Person of the Trinity). This is a statement of such epic proportion that it bears repeating in a few different ways. Jesus lived His divine life (Jesus was and is God) as one of us (a human being) and, in doing so, freely accepted the limitations of His humanity. Reasoning from this, it logically follows that Jesus relied upon the guidance and power the Father gave Him through the Spirit in order to live each day of His life in perfect obedience to the Father and accomplish everything that He was sent to do. Or, expressed another way, Jesus relied on the Spirit to empower His ministry, live out a life of perfect obedience to the will of the Father, and accomplish all the supernatural works that God called Him to do-and Christians alive today now have that very same Spirit. Third time's a charm: Christians are indwelt, anointed, filled and empowered by the same Spirit that indwelt, anointed, filled and empowered Jesus Christ during His life on earth. The implications? The very same power (resource) that Jesus relied on throughout the entirety of His life on earth is now given to all who trust and follow Him. Astonishing. Amazing. Extraordinary. Staggering. Awesome. Too good to be (biblically) true? One of the most incredible verses in all of Scripture comes in 1 Corinthians 14:32. Here the Apostle Paul writes: "The spirits of prophets are subject to prophets." It seems that Paul's point is that the Holy Spirit does not act through us or upon us as if we were some mindless robot or sedentary being. Rather, the Spirit happily and freely subjects Himself to our thoughts and decisions about what He can do in and through our life. Even more astonishing is Paul's admonishment that believers must not "quench the Spirit" (1 Thessalonians 5:19). If we are to understand Paul correctly, then a Christian has the ability to either "fan the flame" (reference 2 Timothy 1:6) or "quench the Spirit" of the Sovereign Spirit of God Himself. To continue the trajectory of Paul's metaphor, believers can either let loose a fire-extinguisher of doubt and fear or a gigantic bucket of faith- filled rocket fuel onto the flame of God's Spirit. The choice is entirely up to you. This means that for many people, we must change the way we think about the Holy Spirit. However, this is no easy task, and it must be carried out with a responsible, exceedingly careful and exhaustive study of Scripture. This book is the roadmap and guide to rediscovering the power, purpose and witness of the Holy Spirit"--
