From Below to Above by Shanahn Smith Pdf

The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath. Proverbs 15: 24, KJV From Below to Above tells the story of a man whose life was truly transformed from below to above. Shanahn Smith was trapped in an immoral lifestyle of homosexuality, drug addiction and witchcraft. The effects of his choices left him feeling hopeless, confused and trapped, resulting in several suicide attempts. Miraculously, each attempt proved to be unsuccessful-God had other plans. Through God's grace, Shanahn was able to break free from the bondages of debauchery, becoming a new creation in Christ. From Below to Above speaks to its readers in a way they can relate to the struggles Shanahn experienced, helping them understand that regardless of their circumstances and bondage, there is hope

As Above, So Below by Rudy Rucker Pdf

Peter Bruegel's paintings---a peasant wedding in a barn, hunters in the snow, a rollicking street festival, and many others---have long defined our idea of everyday life in sixteenth century Europe. They are classic icons of a time and place in much the same way as Norman Rockwell's depictions of twentieth-century America. We know relatively little about Bruegel, but after years of research, novelist Rudy Rucker has built upon what is known and has created for us the life and world of a true master who never got old. In sixteen chapters, each headed by a reproduction of one of the famous works, Rucker brings Bruegel's painter's progress and his colorful world to vibrant life, doing for Bruegel what the best-selling Girl with a Pearl Earring did for Vermeer. We follow the artist from the winding streets of Antwerp and Brussels to the glowing skies and decaying monuments of Rome and back. He and his friends, the cartographer Ortelius and Williblad Cheroo, an American Indian, are as vivid on the page as the multifarious denizens of Bruegel's unforgettable canvases. Here is a world of conflict, change, and discovery, a world where Carnival battles Lent every day, preserved for us in paint by the engaging genius you will meet in the pages of As Above, So Below. Capitalism from Above and Capitalism from Below by T. Byres Pdf

The distinction between 'capitalism from above' and 'capitalism from below' is important in the analysis of the agrarian question in poor countries. The 'Prussian path' and the 'American path' are here examined, against existing historical scholarship. Their unfolding, from their earliest roots to the point of final 'agrarian transition' in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, is considered. The dialectic between social relations and productive forces, mediated as it was by the state, is treated and the implications for capitalist industrialisation scrutinised.

Peacemaking from Above, Peace from Below by Norrin M. Ripsman Pdf

In Peacemaking from Above, Peace from Below, Norrin M. Ripsman explains how regional rivals make peace and how outside actors can encourage regional peacemaking. Through a qualitative empirical analysis of all the regional rivalries that terminated in peace treaties in the twentieth century—including detailed case studies of the Franco-German, Egyptian-Israeli, and Israeli-Jordanian peace settlements—Ripsman concludes that efforts to encourage peacemaking that focus on changing the attitudes of the rival societies or democratizing the rival polities to enable societal input into security policy are unlikely to achieve peace.Prior to a peace treaty, he finds, peacemaking is driven by states, often against intense societal opposition, for geostrategic reasons or to preserve domestic power. After a formal treaty has been concluded, the stability of peace depends on societal buy-in through mechanisms such as bilateral economic interdependence, democratization of former rivals, cooperative regional institutions, and transfers of population or territory. Society is largely irrelevant to the first stage but is critical to the second. He draws from this analysis a lesson for contemporary policy. Western governments and international organizations have invested heavily in efforts to promote Israeli-Palestinian and Indo-Pakistani peace by promoting democratic values, economic exchanges, and cultural contacts between the opponents. Such attempts to foster peace are likely to waste resources until such time as formal peace treaties are concluded between longtime adversaries.

Cloud Memoirs: Views from Below, Inside, and Above by Margaret Walker,Ryan Koop,Patrick Kerpan Pdf

Both enterprise and consumer cloud adoption will lead the market into new realms. From the “cloud to the ground,” each chapter of our ebook looks back at the short history of cloud computing from the early stages of far off clouds, through the gathering clouds that turned into fog. Today that fog is shifting, and beginning to rain down the first drops of change. We sifted through our blog posts from 2006 onward to present a reflection of our thoughts at the time. Interspersed with each chapter are new, exclusive insights from friends, colleagues, and customers we met along the journey. Big thanks to our contributors: Fred Hoch, Edmund Sutcliffe, Krishnan Subramanian, James Elwood, Chad Lawler, and Patricia Seybold. Thank you to those who gladly let us share their works from over the years: Jeff Barr, Eric Knorr, James Governor, Chris Purrington, Chris Hoff, and Chris Swan.

The Emerald Tablet by Hermes Trismegistus,Isaac Newton Pdf

The Emerald Tablet, also known as the Smaragdine Table, or Tabula Smaragdina, is a compact and cryptic piece of the Hermetica reputed to contain the secret of the prima materia and its transmutation. It was highly regarded by European alchemists as the foundation of their art and its Hermetic tradition. The original source of the Emerald Tablet is unknown. Hermes Trismegistus is the author named in the text. The layers of meaning in the Emerald Tablet have been associated with the creation of the philosopher's stone, laboratory experimentation, phase transition, the alchemical magnum opus, the ancient, classical, element system, and the correspondence between macrocosm and microcosm.

As Above, So Below by Gina Konstantopoulos,Shana Zaia Pdf

This volume addresses the nexus of religion and geography in the ancient Near East through case studies of various time periods and regions. Using Sumerian, Akkadian, and Aramaic text corpora, iconography, and archaeological evidence, the contributors illuminate the diverse phenomena that occur when religion is viewed through the lenses of space and place. Gina Konstantopoulos draws upon Sumerian literature to understand mythicized and semimythicized locations. Seth Richardson and Elizabeth Knott focus on the Old Babylonian period, with Richardson addressing the interplay between law, location, and the gods, while Knott turns from text to image, relocating the reader to Syria and realizing the potential of royal iconography when situated in the “right” space. Shana Zaia moves forward to the first millennium, following the capital of the Neo-Assyrian Empire as it shifted from city to city, with divine implications. Finally, Arnulf Hausleiter and Sebastiano Lora focus on northwest Arabia, unearthing a local pantheon and situating it among the various influences in the region from the second millennium onward. Covering a broad geographical and temporal scope while maintaining a cohesive focus on the theme, this book will appeal especially to Assyriologists, scholars of the ancient Near East, and specialists in historical geography.
