From the Cradle to the Cross by Lennox Anthony Blaides Pdf

From the Cradle to the Cross From the Grave to the Sky is a book about the life and Times of the Lord Jesus Christ as he walked the earth more than two thousand years ago. There are four specific areas in this study that make up the foundation for this book. Phase One deals with prophecies concerning the birth and reign of Jesus and the circumstances that surround his life as a child. The bible does not elaborate on the first twelve years of his life so there is reason to believe that his life was that of a normal child. What is important to note is that Matthew gave a genealogy of Jesus; not only to show his lineage to David, but more importantly to demonstrate that he was not begotten by anyone but the Holy Ghost. Matthew chapter 1 verses 1-17 speaks of the lineage of Jesus but verses 18-23 speaks of his conception by the Holy Ghost. This is extremely important for him to be called the Son of God. Since Jesus was conceived by the Holy Ghost and he is called the Son of God, it is reasonable to say that the Holy Ghost is God. Phase Two goes a little deeper as we follow his footsteps from the river Jordan where he was baptized by John the Baptist; to a place called Calvary where he would be crucified. Jesus himself prophesied of his own death. Matthew 20 verses 18-19 Jesus said, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death. Phase Three will take us into the grave where the tell-tale signs of his return would be discovered. There would also be witnesses in the grave who testified about his resurrection. We will discuss the significance of the empty tomb and what it means to the believer. There is more on the resurrection and the disappearance of Jesus for eight days. Phase Four captures the disciples looking up into the sky because the Saviour of the world, the King of glory was on his way to heaven. There are several incidents that took place from the time he was placed in the grave to the moment he was taken up into the sky; all of which are instrumental to the faith of the believer. In this phase, Jesus speaks of the love that we ought to have for the brethren. In the gospel of John, he gave us a new commandment that we should love one another as he loved us. (John 13 verse 34) This was before his death, but after his death, he brought the subject back to the surface and spoke of the two aspects of Love; namely, agapao and phileo. There is a reason behind all that is written in this book. The Apostle John wrote, All these are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

The Better Mom by Ruth Schwenk Pdf

Mothering is messy. Our joy and hope in raising children doesn’t change the reality that being a mom can be frustrating, stressful, and tiring. But just as God is using us to shape our children, God is using our children and motherhood to shape us. In The Better Mom, author Ruth Schwenk, herself a mother of four children, encourages us with the good news that there is more to being a mom than the extremes of striving for perfection or simply embracing the mess. We don’t need to settle for surviving our kids’ childhood. We can grow through it. With refreshing and heartfelt honesty Ruth emboldens moms to: Find freedom and walk confidently in purpose Create a God-honoring home environment Overcome unhealthy and destructive emotions such as anger, anxiety, and more Avoid glorifying the mess of mom-ing or idolizing perfection Cultivate life-giving friendships At the heart of The Better Mom is the message that Jesus calls us to live not a weary life, but a worthy life. We don’t have to settle for either being apathetic or struggling to be perfect. Both visions of motherhood go too far. Ruth offers a better option. She says, “It’s okay to come as we are, but what we’re called to do and be is far too important to stay there! The way to becoming a better mom starts not with what we are doing, but with who God is inviting us to become."

From the Cradle to the Cross by George Brooks Pdf

From The Cradle to The Cross, a 365 Day Prayer Devotional, has been a labor of love for the past year. Born from a dream on January 29, 2016, my wife's birthday, I have been led by the Holy Spirit to write prayers that will hopefully touch your heart. My relationship with Jesus Christ has been nurtured through the inspiration of my mother, Eleanor Brooks. It is my mother who blessed me, through her example, to have faith in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is through the Holy Spirit that I have been able to write these prayers, originally published in a blog called "Today's Prayer", that have literally touched, and hopefully blessed the lives of thousands of people seeking to communicate with God and to express their love for Jesus Christ. As you read these prayers, open your heart to the love and grace of Christ so that He May walk with you during the trials and joys you experience in life. If there is one thing I pray you will glean from these prayers, it is that we are all sinners, no matter our station in life, who are in need of God's grace. May you be truly blessed as you give your heart over to Christ so that you too may experience the joy in your life you have been seeking. George H. Brooks

From the Cradle to the Cross by George H. Brooks Pdf

In George’s book, “From the Cradle to the Cross, A 365 Day Morning Prayer Devotional,” one will find God speaking to the reader through Scripture and the reader speaking to God through personal prayer. The prayers are filled with Praising the Lord for who He is and what He has done and is doing even now in the servant’s life. It includes prayer for Protection, as God is a Providential Care Giver. It provides prayers for Guidance of the Holy Spirit in our daily life and for the Power and Strength to live a life that would glorify God daily. As I read George’s book, I first read a Scripture passage, the Word of God. But when I read the prayer that followed, I soon realized that I was reading the words penned from a servant’s heart to his Lord, Jesus Christ. Through our volunteer program at our jail, George was able to touch many inmates’ lives with the love of Christ. But make no mistake, his book is meant for each of us, not just for those who are incarcerated. For we are all children of God in need of His love and grace. George’s devotional is his personal testimony and his desire to touch others for Christ. May you be blessed as you read these daily prayers. Pastor Mark A. FROM THE CRADLE TO THE CROSS presents a collection of poems which speak to the birth of Christ in one batch and in the next batch capture scenes which uplift the cross on which He had been crucified. For the professing Christian, the hope of these humble efforts embodies this poet’s desire to further assure you that you have come to believe in the One He sent (John 6:29), and that is the most important aspect of your work. As one as God grants each one of us breath, I pray that we can continue to grow. For the one who has not yet surrendered his life unto the Lord, perhaps He can reach out to you in one of these many poems. To live eternally with the Lord Jesus Christ will prove forever that one had made the best of all right choices.

Part Four includes discussions of the General Epistles (Hebrews, James, 1-2 Peter, 1-3 John, Jude) and Revelation. Each chapter clearly discusses the book’s key facts, contribution to the canon, historical setting, literary features, and theological message. In all, The Lion and the Lamb makes this learning exciting and rewarding.

Black, Gay, British, Christian, Queer by Jarel Robinson-Brown Pdf

If the church is ever tempted to think that it has its theology of grace sorted, it need only look at its reception of queer black bodies and it will see a very different story. In this honest, timely and provocative book, Jarel Robinson-Brown argues that there is deeper work to be done if the body of Christ is going to fully accept the bodies of those who are black and gay. A vital call to the Church and the world that Black, Queer, Christian lives matter, this book seeks to remind the Church of those who find themselves beyond its fellowship yet who directly suffer from the perpetual ecclesial terrorism of the Christian community through its speech and its silence.
