Soccer around the World by Charles Parrish,John Nauright Pdf

Two leading sports authorities explore the culture of soccer around the world, considering the sport as a means to better understand a society's past, present, and future. How popular is soccer worldwide? Here's one indicator: 3.2 billion people—nearly half of the planet's population—tuned in to watch the 2010 World Cup on television. Soccer matches attract a gargantuan number of fans from around the globe due to the popularity of the sport itself but also because of the nationalism it inspires and the entertainment spectacle of the big games. Distinguished authors and sports authorities, Charles Parrish and John Nauright, examine how soccer impacts societies worldwide by shaping national identities, providing common ground for diplomatic issues, and forging economic and social development. This one-volume geographic guide studies the places in which soccer has a major impact, examining each region's teams, major tournaments, key players, and international performance. The authors organize the book geographically by region and country, with entries reviewing the history of the sport and cultural impact on the area. Each profile concludes with fascinating game-based statistics, such as winners of major tournaments and top goal scorers. The book covers 20 countries including England, Brazil, Egypt, the United States, Cameroon, and Korea.

Leicester City: The Immortals by Harry Harris Pdf

The Immortals is the fairy-tale account of Leicester City, who rose from the very bottom of the English Premier League—the world’s toughest soccer league—to triumph against all odds (5,000–1) and finish as champions. Ending up in League One (third level) for the first time in 2008–09, the team stormed through the season to win the league and was promoted back up to the League Championship (second league). After four seasons as a middle-of-the-pack team, Leicester won the league in 2013–14, being promoted to the EPL for the first time in a decade. After a strong start the following season, the team quickly faded and looked to be facing relegation. But after winning seven out of their last nine games, they avoided the demotion and finished in fourteenth place. Under the calm and wise management of Claudio Ranieri—who was named as manager to start the 2015–16 season—the East Midlands club stunned football supporters by winning despite not having a recognizable superstar on the team. With massive team spirit and a never-say-die attitude, the team kept Tottenham, Arsenal, and Manchester City at bay to secure their first ever Premier League trophy in their 132-year history. In the process, journeyman players such as Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, N’Golo Kante, and Kasper Schmeichel became household names and added to the team’s growing lore. Written by legendary soccer writer Harry Harris, with seventy-six books to his name, The Immortals is a must-read for all fans of the sport, as well as those who adopted Leicester City and the Foxes during their dramatic run.

Absolute freedom and happiness - our true essence by Vadim Sychevskiy Pdf

This essay is a summary of the key points of authentic spiritual practice, which are presented in detail in the book «Dharma - The Way Things Are. Real Experiences and Realizations of a Spiritual Practitioner» (© V. Sychevskiy, 2022, © AEGITAS Publishing House, 2022). Unfortunately, nowadays it is very often believed that «going into the astral» is a spiritual practice. This is a very dangerous misconception. To put it briefly, the Lower Astral World are the images of our worldly desires. Therefore, a simple «going into the Astral» outside the context of proper spiritual practice are nothing but horrifying visions of Hell, the Animal World, and the World of Hungry Spirits in the Lower Astral World and, accordingly, a serious blow to the psyche. However, if you read the original Buddhist or yogic sutras, you will not find in their descriptions anything about «entering the Astral», «contact with astral entities», «connection to the streams of energy» and further immersion in pitch darkness. Because true spiritual practice based on the True Dharma, which was given to the world by the Great Teachers of the past, is completely opposite to the nonsense and lies broadcast by the urban crazies. They think they are masters of meditation, because they practice under the influence of drugs. Their practice is often only technical and in instead of immersing themselves in the Practices of Goodness, Merit, Law, and Tranquility they engage in religious activities to satisfy their egoism and wealth. In meditation, only the data that we have accumulated will manifest. Therefore, what we experience after we sit down to meditate is very important. Further, when the data manifests, we completely stop its action through concentration and Contemplation. But what happens if from the very beginning we do not change the initial data and do not master Calmness and Contemplation? For example, although meditation has become very fashionable, hasn't the world been getting worse and worse? The fact is that if you do not change the initial data with the help of preliminary practices, then it will remain at the level of the lower worlds, full of worldly desires and, accordingly, suffering. Moreover, if the internal data is of a low level, and there is no ability to stop the action of this outgoing data, then no matter how much you meditate, you will not get better from this. Nevertheless, ordinary people, trying to «be in the trend», sit and think: «I meditate». But there is no point in sitting in your pants. The meaning will come only when we persistently change the data of our Five Aggregates, controlling the actions of the body, speech and thoughts based on the True Dharma fixed in memory.
