Chandler and Grant's Glaucoma by Malik Kahook,Joel S. Schuman Pdf

Chandler and Grant’s Glaucoma—one of the field’s seminal texts on the medical practice and surgical management of glaucoma, now in its Sixth Edition—includes the latest updates in an area that is currently experiencing a surge of innovation. Edited by Drs. Malik Y. Kahook and Joel S. Schuman and with writings from the late Dr. David L. Epstein and more than 80 contributors, Chandler and Grant’s Glaucoma, Sixth Edition brings together the experience of world-class glaucoma experts who belong to a long line of surgeons trained using the teachings of the original authors of this classic work. Each chapter has been meticulously edited and updated from the previous edition, while maintaining the well-established historical teachings of Drs. Paul A. Chandler and W. Morton Grant. New chapters on medical therapy as well as thorough updates on novel and minimally invasive approaches for the surgical management of glaucoma have been added. New topics and features in the Sixth Edition include: Advances in imaging of the optic nerve and retina Rho-associated protein kinase inhibitors Glaucoma and cerebrospinal fluid pressure The FDA’s role in the development of new diagnostic and surgical devices for patients with glaucoma Chandler and Grant’s Glaucoma has been the most relevant and invaluable reference on glaucoma for generations of ophthalmologists. This updated Sixth Edition builds on the teachings of previous editions, making the Sixth Edition as relevant in the 21st century as when the first lectures were presented by Drs. Chandler and Grant more than 55 years ago.

Shields Textbook of Glaucoma by R. Rand Allingham,Karim F. Damji,Sharon F. Freedman,Sayoko E. Moroi,Douglas J. Rhee,M. Bruce Shields Pdf

Thoroughly updated, and now in full color, Shields' Textbook of Glaucoma, Sixth Edition is a clinically focused and practical textbook for general ophthalmologists treating patients with glaucoma. This classic text offers a rational approach to the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and presents a total care plan for the patient. This edition has five new or reconfigured chapters—management of the glaucoma patient/approach to the patient; principles of medical therapy; adrenergic agonists and antagonists; cholinergic stimulators and hyperosmotic agents; and neuroprotection and other investigational drugs. The book examines new technologies for intraocular pressure assessment and current diagnostic technologies such as optical coherence tomography, spectral domain optical coherence tomography, Heidelberg retinal tomograph, and GDx. Noted experts detail advances in surgical treatment of glaucoma including new glaucoma implants and angle surgery. Coverage also includes advances in genetics of glaucomatous diseases. A companion website includes the fully searchable text and an image bank.

Pathogenesis and Risk Factors of Glaucoma by E. Gramer,F. Grehn Pdf

During a closed international symposium held in Friedrichsruhe, Germany, the latest scientific results on the pathogenesis and risk factors of glaucoma were discussed, and this volume summarises the progress made in the detection and treatment of glaucomas. The 25 contributions cover such topics as compliance, medical therapy, wound healing, genetic risk factors, disk damage in relation to visual field loss, disk haemorrhages, intraocular pressure, low blood pressure, retinal ischemia, and the treatment of causal factors in glaucoma.

Vascular Considerations in Glaucoma by S. Fabián Lerner,Vital P. Costa,Antonio Martinez (Ophthalmologist),Brent Siesky Pdf

Preface Open angle glaucoma (OAG) is one of the leading causes of impaired vision worldwide. The pathogenesis of glaucomatous optic neuropathy remains poorly understood, and several pathogenic mechanisms are proposed to coexist. As the world population ages, OAG will become more prevalent and advances in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucomatous optic neuropathy are important to protect and improve the quality of life of our aging population. Treatment of OAG has been directed at lowering intraocular pressure (IOP) which is the only current therapeutic strategy available to patients with glaucoma. While a wide variety of studies have demonstrated that lowering IOP decreases the risk of glaucoma development and/or progression, many studies have also shown that some patients continue to lose vision despite significant lowering of IOP. There have been many attempts to elucidate the etiology for the deterioration in glaucomatous optic neuropathy despite low levels of IOP. Over the past several decades, deficits in the ocular circulation of patients with OAG have become well established and these may explain the continued progression of OAG patients despite lowered IOP. The purpose of the present publication is to provide an updated view of ocular blood flow and vascular dysregulation in OAG. The importance of the topic was demonstrated by the focus of the 2009 6th Consensus meeting of the World Glaucoma Association which focused entirely on blood flow deficits in patients with OAG. Although a great deal of knowledge on vascular risk factors in glaucoma has already been established, many questions remain. Do ocular blood flow deficits precede glaucoma progression? How does ocular perfusion pressure fit into the IOP and blood flow paradigm? What conclusions can be drawn from recent evidence showing the fluctuation of OAG risk factors including IOP, blood pressure and ocular perfusion pressure? We hope this update d current prospective will serve as a foundation for future investigations which will be designed to answer these and other important considerations in the management of glaucoma.
