You'll see a powerful shift in the concept of ownership, the role of employees within a company, and the role of companies in society. Most important, you'll be able to turn these fascinating predictions into real-world opportunities for decades to come. It provides insights into the six major markets that target our basic emotional needs, and discusses how organizations from Disney and Nike to Rolex are supplying information to help consumers satisfy those needs. Thought-provoking and timely, it details the ways in which today's dream society trades on the exciting world of human potential and dreams¬¬and what organizations must do to keep from being left behind.

The Political Economy of Middle Class Politics and the Global Crisis in Eastern Europe by Agnes Gagyi Pdf

Contrary to dominant narratives which portray East European politics as a pendulum swing between democracy and authoritarianism, conventionally defined in terms of an ahistorical cultural geography of East vs. West, this book analyzes post-socialist transformation as part of the long downturn of the post-WWII global capitalist cycle. Based on an empirical comparison of two countries with significantly different political regimes throughout the period, Hungary and Romania, this study shows how different constellations of successive late socialist and post-socialist regimes have managed internal and external class relations throughout the same global crisis process, from very similar positions of semi-peripheral, post-socialist systemic integration. Within this context, the book follows the role of social movements since the 1970s, paying attention both to the level of differences between local integration regimes and to the level of structural similarities of global integration. The analysis maintains a special focus on movements’ class composition and inter-class relationships and the specific position of middle-class politics in movements.

EBOOK: Globalization and Reform in Higher Education by Heather Eggins Pdf

As the ability of each higher education system to produce the highly-skilled citizens required in the twenty first century becomes crucial, governments are recognizing and responding to global, as well as local, economic and cultural changes. Moreover, as the effects of globalization spread, their impact upon individual governments and their higher education institutions are becoming steadily more apparent. This book charts the key issues that are involved in reforming higher education to meet new global challenges. It draws on a team of distinguished international researchers from North America, Africa, Australia and Europe who consider particular topics: the reform of governance and finance, the funding of higher education, managerialism, accreditation and quality assurance, the use of performance indicators, faculty roles and rewards, and the cultural, social and ethical dimensions of change. The concluding section consists of two case studies: the first is a detailed discussion of the Australian government’s introduction of higher education reform; the second assesses the transformation of higher education in South Africa in the face of contemporary global and local change. Globalization and Reform in Higher Education enables readers to develop a firm grasp of the current state of play in higher education institutions worldwide, issues to be dealt with, and difficulties that have to be transcended. The book is essential reading for academics, senior managers, parliamentarians and civil servants involved in higher education policy-making. Contributors Rosemary Deem, Heather Eggins, Elaine El-Khawas, D. Bruce Johnstone, Mary-Louise Kearney, Adrianna Kezar, Elisabeth Lillie, Simon Marginson, Ann I. Morey, Preeti Shroff-Mehta, Barbara Sporn, George Subotzky and William Taylor.
