Gm-C Filter Synthesis for Modern RF Systems by Vančo Litovski Pdf

This book discusses synthesis of Gm-C filter for modern radio frequency systems. Analogue filters are an inevitable part of the chain of signal processing in modern radio and telecommunication systems. Among the technologies implemented for these purposes are the so-called Gm-C filters which are built of operational transconductance amplifiers and capacitors. This technology allows for integration of the filter into a CMOS system-on-chip so making it very attractive for application in low-power (battery operated) devices. The objective of this book is to achieve three goals: (1) to fully describe the circuit synthesis procedures for parallel, cascade, and a realization based on LC prototypes; (2) to make a thorough evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages of these methods and to recommend the “preferable” one; and (3) to create an extensive table of element values of cascaded Gm-C filters realizing the best-known low-pass filter functions. The book will influence the design community to embrace this technology even for non-communication applications.

Filter Synthesis Using Genesys S/Filter by Randall W. Rhea Pdf

S/Filter includes tools beyond direct synthesis, including a wide variety of both exact and approximate equivalent network transforms, methods for selecting the most desirable out of potentially thousands of synthesized alternatives, and a transform history record that simplifies design attempts requiring iteration. Very few software programs are based on direct synthesis, and the additional features of S/Filter make it a uniquely effective tool for filter design. This resource presents a practical guide to using Genesys software for microwave and RF filter design and synthesis. The focus of the book is common filter design problems and how to use direct synthesis to solve those problems. This book covers the application of S/Filter features to solving important and common filter problems. Both lumped element and distributed filters are discussed, with extensions to dielectric and quartz crystal resonators.

Analog Circuit Design by Willy M.C. Sansen,Johan Huijsing,Rudy J. van de Plassche Pdf

This new book on Analog Circuit Design contains the revised contributions of all the tutorial speakers of the eight workshop AACD (Advances in Analog Circuit Design), which was held at Nice, France on March 23-25, 1999. The workshop was organized by Yves Leduc of TI Nice, France. The program committee consisted of Willy Sansen, K.U.Leuven, Belgium, Han Huijsing, T.U.Delft, The Netherlands and Rudy van de Plassche, T.U.Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The aim of these AACD workshops is to bring together a restricted group of about 100 people who are personally advancing the frontiers of analog circuit design to brainstorm on new possibilities and future developments in a restricted number of fields. They are concentrated around three topics. In each topic six speakers give a tutorial presentation. Eighteen papers are thus included in this book. The topics of 1999 are: (X)DSL and other communication systems RF MOST models Integrated filters and oscillators The other topics, which have been coverd before, are: 1992 Operational amplifiers A-D Converters Analog CAD 1993 Mixed-mode A+D design Sensor interfaces Communication circuits 1994 Low-power low-voltage design Integrated filters Smart power 1995 Low-noise low-power low-voltge design Mixed-mode design with CAD tools Voltage, current and time references vii viii 1996 RF CMOS circuit design Bandpass sigma-delta and other data converters Translinear circuits 1997 RF A-D Converters Sensor and actuator interfaces Low-noise oscillators, PLL's and synthesizers 1998 I-Volt electronics Design and implementation of mixed-mode systems Low-noise amplifiers and RF power amplifiers for telecommunications

The ultimate practical resource for today's RF system design professionals Radio frequency components and circuits form the backbone of today's mobile and satellite communications networks. Consequently, both practicing and aspiring industry professionals need to be able to solve ever more complex problems of RF design. Blending theoretical rigor with a wealth of practical expertise, Practical RF System Design addresses a variety of complex, real-world problems that system engineers are likely to encounter in today's burgeoning communications industry with solutions that are not easily available in the existing literature. The author, an expert in the field of RF module and system design, provides powerful techniques for analyzing real RF systems, with emphasis on some that are currently not well understood. Combining theoretical results and models with examples, he challenges readers to address such practical issues as: * How standing wave ratio affects system gain * How noise on a local oscillator will affect receiver noise figure and desensitization * How to determine the dynamic range of a cascade from module specifications * How phase noise affects system performance and where it comes from * How intermodulation products (IMs) predictably change with signal amplitude, and why they sometimes change differently An essential resource for today's RF system engineers, the text covers important topics in the areas of system noise and nonlinearity, frequency conversion, and phase noise. Along with a wealth of practical examples using MATLAB(r) and Excel, spreadsheets are available for download from an FTP Web site to help readers apply the methods outlined in this important resource.

MicroCMOS Design by Bang-Sup Song Pdf

MicroCMOS Design covers key analog design methodologies with an emphasis on analog systems that can be integrated into systems-on-chip (SoCs). Starting at the transistor level, this book introduces basic concepts in the design of system-level complementary metal-oxide semiconductors (CMOS). It uses practical examples to illustrate circuit construction so that readers can develop an intuitive understanding rather than just assimilate the usual conventional analytical knowledge. As SoCs become increasingly complex, analog/radio frequency (RF) system designers have to master both system- and transistor-level design aspects. They must understand abstract concepts associated with large components, such as analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and phase-locked loops (PLLs). To help readers along, this book discusses topics including: Amplifier basics & design Operational amplifier (Opamp) Data converter basics Nyquist-rate data converters Oversampling data converters High-resolution data converters PLL basics Frequency synthesis and clock recovery Focused more on design than analysis, this reference avoids lengthy equations and instead helps readers acquire a more hands-on mastery of the subject based on the application of core design concepts. Offering the needed perspective on the various design techniques for data converter and PLL design, coverage starts with abstract concepts—including discussion of bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) and MOS transistors—and builds up to an examination of the larger systems derived from microCMOS design.
