Reparations by Duke L. Kwon,Gregory Thompson Pdf

"Kwon and Thompson's eloquent reasoning will help Christians broaden their understanding of the contemporary conversation over reparations."--Publishers Weekly "A thoughtful approach to a vital topic."--Library Journal Christians are awakening to the legacy of racism in America like never before. While public conversations regarding the realities of racial division and inequalities have surged in recent years, so has the public outcry to work toward the long-awaited healing of these wounds. But American Christianity, with its tendency to view the ministry of reconciliation as its sole response to racial injustice, and its isolation from those who labor most diligently to address these things, is underequipped to offer solutions. Because of this, the church needs a new perspective on its responsibility for the deep racial brokenness at the heart of American culture and on what it can do to repair that brokenness. This book makes a compelling historical and theological case for the church's obligation to provide reparations for the oppression of African Americans. Duke Kwon and Gregory Thompson articulate the church's responsibility for its promotion and preservation of white supremacy throughout history, investigate the Bible's call to repair our racial brokenness, and offer a vision for the work of reparation at the local level. They lead readers toward a moral imagination that views reparations as a long-overdue and necessary step in our collective journey toward healing and wholeness.

The Gift of Repentance by Kevin Perrotta Pdf

Repentance is a gift—because coming to the realization of ourselves as sinners opens our hearts to the gospel. And while consciousness of our sins is uncomfortable, it is also a cause for hope. In those feelings of guilt, says popular Scripture commentator Kevin Perrotta, God is calling us to return to him. The first three sessions of this Bible study are designed to spur readers to reflect on their own experience of recognizing their sins and taking action against them. The second three sessions focus on Jesus, who calls us to grow in love beyond anything that is easy or comfortable for us—and enables us to do it by nourishing us with himself.

What Is Repentance? by R. C. Sproul Pdf

All people have sinned and broken God's law. None of us are good (Rom. 3:10). And as a result of our sin, God commands us to repent. But what does repentance look like? In this booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul looks at several people in the Bible and how they give us a model of repentance. Dr. Sproul explains that true repentance is not simply a religious ritual or the resolve to do better next time. Rather, it's a spiritual conversion in which we turn from our sin and to God in faith. The Crucial Questions booklet series by Dr. R.C. Sproul offers succinct answers to important questions often asked by Christians and thoughtful inquirers.

The Gospel According to the Apostles by John F. MacArthur Pdf

The apostles understood the Gospel as they learned from and personally lived alongside Jesus, and these lessons became the heart of their message to an unsaved world. But what does their perspective mean for modern Christians, and how can we read the Bible through their unique lens today? Following the release of his bestselling book The Gospel According to Jesus, Dr. MacArthur noticed that Christians were looking for practical advice, spiritual counsel, and accessible explanations of the Bible. And, most of all, they wanted help understanding their experiences within Christianity. Dr. MacArthur realized that by examining scripture from the perspective of the apostles themselves, even more Christians could come to know the Gospel as Jesus' earliest followers did. In his characteristic compelling style, Dr. MacArthur examines some of the key passages from the Epistles and Acts that reveal how the apostles first shared the gospel and how they unfolded the truths of salvation to the early church. Dr. MacArthur doesn't shy away from answering some of the difficult questions that he's been asked over the years, including: What is cheap grace? Have some Christians adopted a "no-lordship" theology? What must a person do to be considered righteous by God? How should we call people to faith? Do our works have any effect on our salvation? The Gospel According to the Apostles is a book for every Christian who wants to experience, understand, and fall in love with the same gospel that Jesus preached.

Radical Forgiveness by Brian Zahnd Pdf

Recover the true beauty of Christianity as found in forgiveness. If Christianity is to be a compelling and relevant voice in the twenty-first century, it needs a fresh message. Not a new innovation or novel interpretation, but a return to our roots. For if Christianity is not about forgiveness, it’s about nothing at all. Beginning with the horror of the Holocaust, Radical Forgiveness explores what forgiveness means--and how far it should go--in the real world of rape, child abuse, genocide, and other atrocities. With honesty and compassion Zahnd tackles questions such as... Should we always forgive? Is forgiveness always even possible? Does forgiveness enable evil? Does it sacrifice justice? Are there ANY limits? Pushing you beyond intellectual exercises, Radical Forgiveness will challenge your thinking by juxtaposing absolutely bottom-line examples with the simple question: What would you do? Echoes from Eden by A. W. Tozer Pdf

"The voice of God is sounding in this world—the voice of God calling, seeking, beckoning to lost men and women!" — A. W. Tozer Our world is fallen - sick and sinful, says A. W. Tozer. But though God will ultimately be our Judge, He continues to call sinful people to repentance and salvation. In this series of sermon excerpts, Tozer elaborates on the voices God uses: the witness of the Holy Spirit, the blood of Jesus, human conscience, reason, accountability, judgement, and—of course—love. The voice of God calling ‘Where are you?’ still echoes from Eden and down through the ages. Do you hear Him?

The Nature, Necessity and Character of True Repentance by Zachary Crofton,C. Matthew McMahon Pdf

When you finish reading this practical work by Zachary Crofton on biblical repentance, you might say to yourself, “I’ve never repented.” That’s the kind of impact he is going to have on you if you read this work even in a cursory manner. In order to have a deeper walk with Christ, repentance is at the heart and life of the sinner who walks comfortably with God. However, repenting, reordering and realigning your fallen mind to sit in connection with God’s will, is not as simple as praying a prayer, as some would have you believe. Crofton says that repentance is a “sense of, and sorrow for sin, as committed against God.” The sinner must spread himself before the Law of God to survey the entire course of his own life. He needs to weigh himself in the balance of God’s perfection. The Gospel-sinner knows he is imperfect, and in view of God’s Law, which shows him his sin, he comes away not just lacking in some spiritual and moral goodness, but sees the utter viciousness of his nature against God’s prescription for holiness. He then sentences himself as accursed of God, agreeing that the Law is right and good, and he knows that he is “bound” to experience God’s Divine fury for his sin in hell by God’s justice which is just and good. He not only sees that he is a true sinner before God, but sorrows under his understanding of sin, and is “ashamed of such a sad and sinful state.” He comes to learn that repentance is a supernatural gift given to him from God, and that he must turn from sin and confess his sin. This kind of repentance is necessary to remove the wrath and judgment of God and to “answer the call of the gospel,” which requires everyone to repent. Crofton explains the characteristics of true biblical repentance from 2 Corinthians 7:11. There are eight characteristics that he covers: godly sorrow, care, clearing of ourselves, indignation, fear, vehement desire, zeal and revenge against sin. And, finally, Crofton demonstrates 10 points which show how you, reader, might gain godly repentance, completely soaking the sinful heart in the blood of Jesus, with great speed, and earnestly looking for repentance only at the hands of God. This is not a scan or facsimile, has been updated in modern English for easy reading and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.

Except Ye Repent by H. A. Ironside Pdf

Fully convinced in my own mind that the doctrine of repentance is the missing note in many otherwise orthodox and fundamentally sound circles today, I have penned this volume out of a full heart. I hope and pray that God will be pleased to use it to awaken many of His servants to the importance of seeking so to present His truth as to bring men to the only place where He can meet them in blessing. That place is the recognition of their own demerit and absolute unworthiness of His least mercies and a new conception of His saving power for all who come to Christ as lost sinners, resting alone upon His redemptive work for salvation, and depending upon the indwelling Holy Spirit to make them victorious over sin's power in daily life.
