He himself spent over twenty years drinking from each, never able to quench his thirst for God.At the age of 22, after a dramatic conversion, almost immediately he joined a religious cult and spent years in spiritual bondage. Attempting to establish his own righteousness, he was not able to be subject to the righteousness of God (Romans 10:3). Year after year, he remained ignorant of the fact that he was being exempted from Christ, by seeking to be justified in law. The rules, creeds and doctrines, which he followed religiously, actually caused him to fall out of the realm where grace operates (Galatians 5:4,5).Finally in his 40's he came to the realization of what it really means to be saved in grace through faith, alone. As is often the case, when the pendulum, swings too far one way, it does the same in the opposite direction. For the next 20 years he abused his freedom in Christ, simply enjoying life and wasting precious time and energy. Finally, at the age of 60, when a financial crisis hit, his whole world seemed to crumble and all his pet doctrines were tested. Painfully, over the next few years, God steadily awakened him out of his apathy and fatalist view of life and the scriptures. In this writing he shares the secret message he discovered. The message is none other than the gospel of God. It is the good news of Christ crucified, entombed and risen, according to the scriptures. The message itself is God's power for salvation to all who actually believe it (Romans 1:16). It alone can make one free to get hold of life really.

In the second book of the series, I will address the process of sanctification in the life of a believer. Our sanctification is an extension of our justification, where God is taking the new life we've received from him, and causing it to grow and bear fruit. This happens the more we yield to him. The same Spirit of God that led us to salvation, is still at work, superintending over the life he placed inside of us when we first received that free gift. In other words, the same grace that brings you into new life is the same grace that bears the fruit of that life. Our only response is to simply yield, much like a branch that bears fruit from a vine. Many in the body of Christ are still identifying with the nature of their old man, and struggling to fully realize the new creature they've become through the life that now resides on the inside of them. The Holy Spirit is not overcoming your sinful nature, he's empowering your new nature. We no longer have to be confused about this. Come join in this venture to break down those spiritual barriers and equip you with the knowledge to apprehend the true nature of who God has called you to be!
