Catheter Ablation of Arrhythmias by Douglas Zipes,Michel Haissaguerre Pdf

Eight years have passed since the publication of the first edition of Catheter Ablation of Arrhythmias, hailed by the journal Circulation as "one of the most practical and useful books available dealing with the topic of catheter ablation…a "must have" reference…" In that time, new techniques have developed, new ablative pathways discovered, new mechanisms identified, and the skills and experience of the authors have grown. Catheter Ablation of Arrhythmias, Second Edition is written by leading international experts in cardiac electrophysiology and ablation, and represents the most contemporary information available on the subject. Each chapter incorporates and reflects the skills accumulated by individual contributors over many years of ablation practice, in some cases dating back to the original, groundbreaking work in ablation over 20 years ago. The book is larger than the first edition, with more and longer chapters, and is replete with figures that explain the individual approaches, including full color examples of relevant imaging techniques. The style is brief and succinct and extremely readable, so that information can be digested in a short time. Ablative techniques are not simply a method of treating arrhythmias, but also an important source of knowledge about the source and mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias. Curative treatment of atrial fibrillation represents a promising challenge for the new millennium. Cardiologists and electrophysiologists will find this book provides able assistance in meeting that challenge.

This extensively revised second edition provides a practically applicable guide for the management of cardiac arrhythmia. This subject has continued to expand rapidly, and it is therefore critical to understand the basic principles of arrhythmia mechanisms in order to assist with diagnosis and the selection of an appropriate treatment strategy. Comprehensively revised chapters cover a variety of aspects of cardiac electrophysiology in an easy-to-digest case-based format. For each case of arrhythmia, relevant illustrations, fluoroscopy images, ECGs and endocavity electrograms are used to describe the etiology, classification, clinical presentation, mechanisms, electrophysiology set up and relevant trouble-shooting procedures. New topics covered include the application of new antiarrhythmic drugs in tandem with ablation, techniques for the ablation of atrial fibrillation and electrophysiological assessments available for identifying instances of atrial tachycardia. Clinical Handbook of Cardiac Electrophysiology presents a comprehensive overview of cardiac electrophysiology, making it a valuable reference for practicing and trainee cardiac electrophysiologists, cardiologists, family practitioners, allied professionals and nurses.

The ESC Textbook of Cardiovascular Medicine by European Society of Cardiology Pdf

The ESC Textbook of Cardiovascular Medicine is a teaching text that contains the knowledge base needed by every general cardiologist and specialist cardiologist as a background to their specialty interest. The textbook content is based on the Core Curriculum of the European Society of Cardiology, making the textbook essential reading for all cardiology trainees. The textbook contains much of the evidence base that is used to derive the practice guidelines published by the European Society of Cardiology, and its contents will be used as a basis for testing the knowledge of trainees who seek to qualify as cardiologists and of cardiologists who must re-accredit their status as cardiovascular health care providers. The book contains 38 chapters flowing from the clinical and investigation interface with the patient through comprehensive desciprtion of disease processes and pathophysiological states and finally to the complex interrelationship between the heart and the mind. The text and design is intended to produce a book that is readable and readily understandable. The text is interspersed with many full color diagrams and simple tabulations. Line diagrams are re-drawn to produce a consistent feel to the book. Chapters relating to cardiac imaging, for example, echocardiography, computed tomography, cardiac magnetic resonance, and nuclear cardiology are richly illustrated. The book is comprised of a print and on-line version. The text in the print version has comprehensive referencing, but the references themselves are available only from the on-line edition where the citations are directly linked to PubMed in order to facilitate retrieval of abstracts and full texts, where available. In both versions, there is a "further reading" list, which consists of major reference works, practice guidelines, especially those published by the European Society of Cardiology, scientific statements, and task force reports. The on-line version includes video images that are represented by a static photograph in the print version. Each chapter begins with a summary of the chapter and a listing of the chapter contents, and is completed with a few paragraphs of personal reflection from the authors about the standing of their subject and its likely development during the next five years.

Case Studies in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology E-Book by John M. Miller,Mithilesh K. Das,Douglas P. Zipes Pdf

Keeping up with the use of new technologies in cardiology is becoming increasingly challenging. Case Studies in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology helps to bridge the gap between knowledge and application with 28 cases spanning both common and uncommon arrhythmias and ablation scenarios, each of which includes the clinical presentation, baseline ECG, ECG during arrhythmia, stepwise electrophysiologic diagnostic maneuvers and some of their pitfalls, and optimal therapy. Includes 28 cases spanning the spectrum of what an electrophysiologist is likely to see in practice. Shows the correct way of conducting procedures, as well as "detours" that an unwary practitioner may take: misdiagnoses and why they are wrong; incorrect therapeutic choices and why these may be not only unsuccessful but even harmful. Encourages you to read and interpret the ECGs, mapping diagrams, and other diagnostic information before revealing the expert opinion or actual results of each case. Summarizes the key learning points in each case. Discusses potential procedural complications, including anticipation, avoidance, recognition, and response and resolution. Covers complex ablations (atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia) as well as prior failed ablations.
