Henry Moore: 1930-39 by Henry Moore Pdf

This seventh and final volume in the complete catalog of Henry Moore's drawings is an essential key to the material contained in the other six volumes. It provides a consolidated version of all the reference apparatus contained in each of the other volumes (index, concordance and list of exhibitions), enabling the user to track down any particular drawing from any period or volume by means of its title, HMF or AG number. In addition, this volume includes a list of Addenda and Corrigenda relating to information that has come to light since this series was launched in 1994. Some 150 items are included in this section. The opportunity has also been seized to catalog about 600 previously unpublished drawings produced by Moore in the last two years of his life (1984-86) and held in the archives of the Henry Moore Foundation. About fifty of these are illustrated and give a flavor of the fine quality of the artist's output even as he approached the end of his life.

Henry Moore by Henry Moore,John Hedgecoe Pdf

"...suddenly the most commonplace objects came to have for me such significance that they no longer existed as just objects, but as shape and form in space."--Henry Moore. One of the world's greatest sculptors and a renowned photographer--close friends for thirty years--combine forces to provide insight into what makes a great creative artist. Part personal history and part stunning presentation of Moore's work and inspirations, striking photographs show his major sculptures and collected art, as well as the landscape and natural forms that indelibly influenced him. Compare Moore's own sculpted masks with the African and Mexican tribal pieces he so admires, or his figures--filled with energy--with Hedgecoe's nude studies. Close-ups focus in on small, fine details. Plus: a treasured glimpse of Moore in his workshop. 208 pages (16 in color), 230 b/w illus., 8 1/8 x 11 3/8.

Volume 2 deals with a crucial decade in Moore's career. Now enjoying a steady income from his post as sculptor and tutor at the Royal College of Art, he was able to devote more time to working on his own sculpture and drawings. It was this time that Moore began his series of Transformation Drawings. Objets trouvés picked up on the beach - lobster claws, animal bones or worn pebbles - became in Moore's imagination reclining figures or mothers holding children. Some of these sketches were developed into the large sculptures of reclining figures with holes at their centre for which Moore is so well-known.

Henry Moore by Henry Moore,Fabienne Eggelhöfer,Sebastiano Barassi,Matthew Gale Pdf

An intriguing conversation exploring the relationship of Henry Moores career to that of Paul Klee is the focus of this handsome exhibition catalog accompanying the exhibition at Zentrum Paul Klee. Curators Sebastiano Barassi of the Henry Moore Foundation, Matthew Gale of the Tate Modern and Fabienne Eggelhofer of the Paul Klee Center have assembled a cross-section of Moores sculpture and paintings that demonstratethough the two artists never met, their closely related anti-academic stance and shared idea of a natural creative process. Both artists avoided the avant-garde debates on figuration and abstraction, and both, argue the shows curators, were concerned with allowing their work to combine abstract and surrealist, classical and romantic elements, in a sense, pointing the way toward postmodern stylistic diversity. With 80 images and essays by the three curators, this publication is a welcome addition to scholarship in the field.

Henry Moore On Sculpture by Henry Moore Pdf

Henry Moore's reputation as one of the greatest sculptors of the 20th century is unassailable. But his words, both written and spoken, are often as thought-provoking, as moving, and as profound as his works. Few sculptors have spoken as eloquently as Moore has about their art; none with the same modesty, candour, and charm. What Moore has to say about his own sculptures, the work of other artists, his full and active life, and the craft of sculpture in general will prove to be of deep and enduring interest to all sculptors, artists, and those interested in modern art.
