Excerpt from Hints: Or Thoughts Suggested and Facts Elicited by the Christian Brothers New Series of Readers In presenting these "Hints" to teachers and monitors, the idea is not that such help should supersede all private labor or preparation. No one can release or relieve the teacher from the conscientious duty of daily preparation of lessons. Each class has its special difficulties, created by locality, the character of its children, their special aptitude or inaptitude in given studies. These difficulties will vary in the same class in different years, and will thus require a change of treatment in the various branches.
