From Homeless to Heaven by Jeanne Ann Off Pdf

Usually Cody Cambres had to do ranch work alone in the winter. However, he had a standing order with an employment agency for an employee. In the spring Cody and Alan are checking cows and the calves born that spring when a bullet hits Alan. Later a bullet from the same rifle kills Cody's best horse. Fire begins on Cody's ranch and spreads. Aimi's house burns down and Aimi's husband is murdered by a bullet from the same rifle. Alan helps both Cody and Aimi with ranch work. Friendship develops.

A Least Expected Heaven: Homelessness and the Spirituality of Meeting by D. Mazza Pdf

A thread weaves through our lives, connecting our past and present into the timelessness of who we are. We find this same connection as we meet ourselves in others, dispelling the illusion that we are separate beings and opening the door to a heaven we long imagined, yet least expected. Through the eyes of his own homelessness, Carl Mazza takes us with him on an intensely personal journey, a bequest from his immigrant forbears, to tell how ordinary people, living through dislocation and chaos, are awakened through human meeting to a primal and gripping spirituality outside institutional religion. The stories in this book are true and powerful; you will be touched and inspired. It is an individual and engaging search for the meaning of belonging which ends in a surprising and compelling view of heaven: where it is and how we can get there. Through an understanding of life experienced as meeting, the author defines a spirituality of powerful possibilities, a soul-force which is too often minimized by organized religion. Drawing from intimate stories over five decades of friendship with persons who have been homeless, he introduces us to people whose lives, though devastated by misfortune and heartbreak, open a vista on an uncharted horizon of meaning for our lives.

No Telephone to Heaven by Michelle Cliff Pdf

A brilliant Jamaican-American writer takes on the themes of colonialism, race, myth, and political awakening. Originally published in 1987, this critically acclaimed novel is the continuation of the story that began in Abeng following Clare Savage, a mixed-race woman who returns to her Jamaican homeland after years away. In this deeply poetic novel, Clare must make sense of her middle-class childhood memories in contrast with another side of Jamaica which she is only now beginning to see: one of extreme poverty. And Jamaica—almost a character in the book—comes to life with its extraordinary beauty, coexisting with deep human tragedy. Through the course of the book, Clare sees the violence that rises out of extreme oppression, the split loyalties of a colonized person, and what it means to be neither white nor Black in that environment. The result is a deeply moving, canonical work.

Rewriting Indie Cinema by J. J. Murphy Pdf

Most films rely on a script developed in pre-production. Yet beginning in the 1950s and continuing through the recent mumblecore movement, key independent filmmakers have broken with the traditional screenplay. Instead, they have turned to new approaches to scripting that allow for more complex characterization and shift the emphasis from the page to performance. In Rewriting Indie Cinema, J. J. Murphy explores these alternative forms of scripting and how they have shaped American film from the 1950s to the present. He traces a strain of indie cinema that used improvisation and psychodrama, a therapeutic form of improvised acting based on a performer’s own life experiences. Murphy begins in the 1950s and 1960s with John Cassavetes, Shirley Clarke, Barbara Loden, Andy Warhol, Norman Mailer, William Greaves, and other independent directors who sought to create a new type of narrative cinema. In the twenty-first century, filmmakers such as Gus Van Sant, the Safdie brothers, Joe Swanberg, and Sean Baker developed similar strategies, sometimes benefitting from the freedom of digital technology. In reading key films and analyzing their techniques, Rewriting Indie Cinema demonstrates how divergence from the script has blurred the divide between fiction and nonfiction. Showing the ways in which filmmakers have striven to capture the subtleties of everyday behavior, Murphy provides a new history of American indie filmmaking and how it challenges Hollywood industrial practices.

24 TOOLS TO BE EFFCTIVE FOR GOD by Jerome A Jeffcoat Sr. Pdf

As we age it is our desire to leave a legacy. This book is birthed out of a cry for substance in the body of Christ. There is a lot of substance in this book. My desire is to help people achieve their purpose. As we read through this book you find that it deals with so many different subjects. Several years ago, the Lord pressed upon my heart to put together a book on leadership principles. There are so many great books on marketing, evangelism, church building, and the list goes on, but this book gives you simple principles that will help your walk with the Lord explode. For instance, prayer is a forgotten art. Many people go to church, but they do not know how to pray. This book gives you simple steps on prayer and how it works if the Old and New Testament. This is great for topical sermons, classroom settings and for and individual who is seeking to know God. The word of God is not just a dead bunch of ideas and concepts, but it is alive. There is so much God wants to impart into this generation, and he can use common everyday people to do it. Several years ago, I earned a doctorate in theology and my heart was to share some things I learned in my journey with the Lord. I must say this project has been so exciting to say the least. I was a kid from the ghettos of New Jersey and God chose me to release a work in the body of Christ. I was never a great student in school, but God saw things in me I did not see in myself. This book is a testament of what he saw.
