I Married Dr. Jekyll and Woke Up Mrs. Hyde by Alma H. Bond Pdf

Why is one marriage out of two today doomed to end in divorce? My interviews with 71 divorced women searched for answers. Did they love their husbands when they married? Did they believe at the time that it was 'till death do us part'? Were there other lovers in the lives of the couple at the time of the divorce? Is there any connection between an unhappy childhood and a failed marriage? Do women tend to lose their identities in marriage? To my surprise, I saw the majority of interviews take on a similar shape, which revealed who the women were and how the divorces fit into the pattern of their lives. In my years of practice as a psychoanalyst, I saw how badly people need others with whom to identify. With this collection, divorcees can see their own fears, despair, grief, hopes, and aspirations reflected in the lives of women passing through similar experiences. I hope the fact that all the subjects came away from their divorces with greater strength, insight, and self-esteem will serve as an inspiration to all survivors of loss and pain. As Queen Isabella said in Henry V, "Happily, a woman's voice may do some good."

Text Loving by Alpha Kennedy Pdf

Text Loving focuses on the everyday issues that we face in different types of relationships whether it is on an intimate level or friendship level. I have learned a lot about people and how they are in different relationships and situations while writing this book. We sometimes may not know exactly what one may think of the other. Sometimes we may say things we don't mean or do things to hurt each other deliberately. We are quick to point fingers without owning up to our mistakes instead of taking the fall. But who am I to judge? I only speak on the things I see and hear. As I sat down to write this book, I had a lot of anxieties and fears because of the possible backlash that I may get from people in general. There are many things that I discussed in this book that people may not like because I may be revealing the fucked-up person they really are. Then you may also have the ones that will agree because they can relate. For what it's worth, as time went by, I overcame those fears and anxieties because I felt like it was more important to get the truth out there and open your eyes to what is going on around you on an everyday basis.

Mrs Jekyll and Cousin Hyde by Jeremy Hodges Pdf

When Robert Louis Stevenson wrote Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, he did not dedicate it to his wife Fanny, despite her crucial role in persuading him to burn the first draft and write a new version that became an instant best-seller. Instead he wrote a dedication to his cousin, Mrs Katharine de Mattos. Why did Stevenson link Katharine with this dark tale of duality, and what role did she play in its creation? In Mrs Jekyll and Cousin Hyde, Jeremy Hodges tells the story of the cousins' close relationship, from childhood romance to bitter estrangement in later life.

Wife Beater Shirt Optional by Laura Streyffeler Ph.D. LMHC Pdf

Have you ever wondered: “Why doesn’t she/he just leave?” “Why does he let her push him around? He’s such a big guy?” “How can it be domestic violence? I’ve never seen a bruise on her/him?” “Why doesn’t she/he just call the cops?” People often ask these questions when they do not have a full understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence. “Wifebeater” shirts are a stereotype not a style. In Wife Beater Shirt Optional, Dr. Laura Streyffeler dispels the myths and stereotypes about domestic violence and helps the reader to have a stronger understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence. Dr. Streyffeler will also help the reader understand the differences between a healthy, unhealthy and abusive relationship. All relationships experience challenges, conflict, and changes. Often times when these challenges and conflicts occur, couples struggle to communicate in a loving and healthy way. Conflict occurs when two (or more) people disagree. Conflict is a normal and healthy part of a relationship. If conflict escalates into verbal or physical violence, and one partner attacks the other, instead of addressing the problem, that’s abuse. In a healthy relationship, both partners want to resolve the conflict. In an abusive relationship, one partner wants to solve the conflict, but the abusive partner does not care about solving the conflict. He/she only wants to “win”, be right or get his/her or way. When one person has all the control in the relationship, makes all (or most) of the decisions, and will do whatever it takes to win and get his/her way and maintain control in the relationship, that is an abusive relationship...even if there has never been physical violence. After unraveling the myths about domestic violence, trauma and the reasons why victims stay (and leave) abusive relationships, tools for assessing the types and extent of the abuse, and practical safety planning for leaving an abusive relationship are provided. If you, or someone you care about, question whether or not you are in an abusive relationship, then this book is for you.

Doing the Dirty Work? by Bridget Anderson Pdf

There has been a tendency amongst feminists to see domestic work as the great leveller, a common burden imposed on all women equally by patriarchy. This unique study of migrant domestic workers in the North uncovers some uncomfortable facts about the race and class aspects of domestic oppression. Based on original research, it looks at the racialisation of paid domestic labour in the North - a phenomenon which challenges feminsim and political theory at a fundamental level. The book opens with an exploration of the public/private divide and an overview of the debates on women and power. The author goes on to provide a map of employment patterns of migrant women in domestic work in the North; she describes the work they perform, their living and working conditions and their employment relations. A chapter on the US explores the connections between slavery and contemporary domestic service while a section on commodification examines the extent to which migrant domestic workers are not selling their labour but their whole personhood. The book also looks at the role of the Other in managing dirt, death and pollution and the effects of the feminisation of the labour market - as middle class white women have greater presence in the public sphere, they are more likely to push responsibility for domestic work onto other women. In its depiction of the treatment of women from the South by women in the North, the book asks some difficult questions about the common bond of womanhood. Packed with information on the numbers of migrant women working as domestics, the racism, immigration or employment legislation that constrains their lives, and testimonies from the workers themselves, this is the most comprehensive study of migrant domestic workers available.
