Community Capacity and Resilience in Latin America by Paul R. Lachapelle,Isabel Gutierrez-Montes,Cornelia Butler Flora Pdf

Community Capacity and Resilience in Latin America addresses the role of communities in building their capacity to increase resiliency and carry out rural development strategies in Latin America. Resiliency in a community sense is associated with an ability to address stress and respond to shock while obtaining participatory engagement in community assessment, planning and outcome. Although the political contexts for community development have changed dramatically in a number of Latin American countries in recent years, there are growing opportunities and examples of communities working together to address common problems and improve collective quality of life. This book links scholarship that highlights community development praxis using new frameworks to understand the potential for community capacity and resiliency. By rejecting old linear models of development, based on technology transfer and diffusion of technology, many communities in Latin America have built capacity of their capital assets to become more resilient and adapt positively to change. This book is an essential resource for academics and practitioners of rural development, demonstrating that there is much we can learn from the skills of self-diagnosis and building on existing assets to enhance community capitals. The Condition of Education in Rural Schools by Joyce D. Stern Pdf

This report focuses on the status of rural education and is intended to provide information to education researchers, policymakers at the federal and state levels, as well as others concerned about issues in rural education. Specifically, the goal is to increase federal policymakers' attention to rural education problems, promote improvements in rural schools, and stimulate further research on rural education. This report documents how rural conditions are sufficiently different from urban ones to warrant being examined independently, and it endorses the hypothesis that a single set of public policies may not adequately address educational issues in rural versus urban settings. National data, mainly from surveys by the National Center for Education Statistics, are synthesized covering the following topics: (1) economic and demographic context of rural education; (2) location and characteristics of rural schools and school districts; (3) relationship between the rural school and its community; (4) policies and programs benefiting rural education; (5) profiles of educators in rural schools; (6) effects of education reform in rural schools; (7) public school finance policies and practices affecting rural schools; (8) assessment of student performance in rural schools; (9) education and work experiences of rural youth; and (10) the future of rural education. The report contains numerous data tables and a section describing statistical data sources and methodology. (LP)

Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Agriculture (ICA 2022) by Risqi Firdaus Setiawan,Hisaaki Kato,Hanilyn Aguilar Hidalgo,Fitri Diana Riana Pdf

This is an open access book. The global economy is by definition the movement of resources (goods, services and capital) across national borders. The more open relations between countries will affect changes in the regional and global regions, this condition is characterized by the level of domestic economic resilience. Currently, technology with its dynamics requires every country to move to follow, citing at the G20 the role of multilateral trading system to strengthen the achievement SDGs, digital trade sustainable, global value chains (GVCs) and sustainable and inclusive industrialization via industry 4.0. Based on the statement above, it shows that modernization and sustainable 4.0 equivalent industrialization are the demands of multi-sectors including the agricultural sector. For Indonesia, agriculture plays a strategic role in the national economy, with the challenges of sustainable agriculture, the role of agriculture is shown in addition to being a provider of food, industrial raw materials, feed and bioenergy, a source of labor absorption, a source of state foreign exchange as well as environmental preservation with an environmentally friendly farming program approach. Sustainable agriculture practices are ideal, but the dimensions of the scope of sustainable agriculture interests and the substance of their meaning are definitely different. Through the international agricultural seminar or The 3rd International Conference Agriculture (ICA) with the theme Modernization And Industrialization To Support Sustainable Agriculture Facing Global Economy which will be held on September 21, 2022 is one of the efforts in equalizing understanding and collecting sustainable farming innovations that are in line with the sustainable development goals and have become the country's commitment in order to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the face of the global economy.
