In the Footsteps of the Masters by Dickson Mungazi [Deceased] Pdf

The height of colonial rule on the African continent saw two prominent religious leaders step to the fore: Desmond Tutu in South Africa, and Abel Muzorewa in Zimbabwe. Both Tutu and Muzorewa believed that Africans could govern their own nations responsibly and effectively if only they were given the opportunity. In expressing their religious views about the need for social justice each man borrowed from national traditions that had shaped policy of earlier church leaders. Tutu and Muzorewa argued that the political development of Africans was essential to the security of the white settlers and that whites should seek the promotion of political development of Africans as a condition of that future security. Desmond Tutu and Abel Muzorewa were both motivated by strong religious principles. They disregarded the possible personal repercussions that they might suffer as a result of their efforts to alter the fundamental bases of their colonial governments. Each man hoped to create a new national climate in which blacks and whites could cooperate to build a new nation. Each played a part in eventual independence for Zimbabwe in 1980 and for South Africa in 1994. Mungazi's examination of their efforts reveals how individuals with strong convictions can make a difference in shaping the future of their nations.

Posthumous Editing of a Great Master's Work by Graham M. Schweig Pdf

Posthumous Editing of a Great Master's Work: Special Focus on the Writings of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda examines how a leading figure's hallowed written and published works, which remain so important to the religious community, should be editorially treated following the leader's departure from this world. The volume addresses the theological, ethical, social, and legal implications of posthumous editing—and even improving—a great master's works. This book focuses on the extensive posthumous editing of the works of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda, the original world-teacher of Krishna bhakti of the twentieth century. After Swami Prabhupāda departed from this world, some of his disciples, without the expressed approval of the author, attempted to improve on his authorized published work, which resulted in the publication of a continuing series of inauthentic altered editions. This extreme editing of Swami Prabhupāda's works precipitated the scholarly research and inquiry into the posthumous editing of a great master's work that forms the basis of this book.

Echoes of Footsteps by Massala Reffell Pdf

The saga of the Elizabeth nicknamed the Black Mayflower that sailed out of the New York Bay in 1820 bound for West Africa continues. The victory of Negro colonies of Freetown and Liberia barked by the United States and Great Britain policing the waters of the Atlantic marked a new offensive in the beginning of the end of the Atlantic slave trade. This in turn sparked overzealousness of desperate slave lords led by Arab traders and kidnappers on the East Coast of Africa that accelerated the rise of the Indian Ocean slave trade. The echoing footsteps of these unrelenting Negroes to end slavery in Africa would be heard by most participants and observers in the form of success stories of Negro adventurers on African shores. The successful activities of the African American colony Liberia in a faraway land considered then as the Dark Continent quickly became the biggest campaign tool for politicians in the United States. The elation led to the banging of tables in the United States Congress by philanthropists, religious leaders as well as politicians, all scrambling to take credit for what was claimed to be a humane way to rid their streets and neighborhoods of the dangers of angry unwanted Negroes or hungry and vicious unowned slaves. Echoes of Footsteps is the second in the three-part novel series on the Birth of a Negro Nation, a saga in the legacy of the Atlantic trade. Deeds Not Words Would conclude the trilogy.

Footsteps of the Master by Harriet Beecher Stowe Pdf

From the introductory (“Rex, Lux, Lex, Dux”): WHEN a city is closely besieged and many of its outworks destroyed, the defenders retreat to the citadel. In our day there is warm fighting about the outworks of Christianity. Many things are battered down that used to be thought indispensable to its defence. It is time to retreat to the citadel; and that citadel is Christ .The old mediaeval symbol shown above is still more than ever good for our day. Jesus Christ of Nazareth is still our King, our Light, our Law, our Leader. These names comprise all that a human being needs in this transitory, perplexing and dangerous pilgrimage of life. We are born to suffer. The very conditions of our mortal existence here imply suffering of the most terrible kind as a possibility, a probability or a certainty. We have affections absorbing our whole being which are hourly menaced by danger and by death—at any moment our sweetest joys may become sources only of bitterest remembrance. We are born to perplexity. We stand amid the jar and conflict of a thousand natural laws, to us inexplicable, and which every hour threaten us in ourselves or those dearer than ourselves. We stand often in no less perplexity of moral law in ways where the path of duty and right is darkened and beset. We are born to die. At the end of every possible road of life lies the dark River—the unknown future. If we cling to life, it is only to see it wither gradually in our hands, to see friends dropping from our side, places vacant at our fireside, infirmities and pains gathering about us, and a new generation with their impetuous energies rising around us to say, Why do you wait here? Why are you not gone? And the Hereafter? What is it? Who will go with us into that future where no friend, however dear, can accompany the soul? What hand of power and love will take ours in the last darkness, when we have let go all others? The dear old book which we call the Bible gives our answer to all this. It tells us of a Being so one with the great Author of nature and Source of all power that whoso hath seen him hath seen the Creator. It tells us that all things that we behold in our material world were made by him and for him: that it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell, and that to him all things in heaven and on earth are made subject. It shows him to us from the beginning of time as constantly absorbed in the care and education of this world of ours. He has been the Desire of all nations—predicted, waited for, come at last!....
