Travels in Wicklow, West Kerry and Connemara by John Millington Synge Pdf
This book is an overlooked masterpiece by one of Ireland's best-loved writers. In it Synge captured the idiosyncracies of everyday speech better, perhaps, than any other Irish writer, while his eye caught the details of a way of life that has long since disappeared. First published in 1910, it is now available as a paperback for the first time, complete with the evocative illustrations by Jack B. Yeats - universally regarded as twentieth-century Ireland's greatest painter.

In Wicklow, West Kerry and Connemara (Classic Reprint) by J. M. Synge Pdf
Excerpt from In Wicklow, West Kerry and Connemara The section in this Volume, In West Kerry, was partly re-written from articles which appeared in the Shanachie where some of In Wicklow also appeared; the remainder of the Wicklow articles and the series In The Congested Districts were originally published in the Manchester Guardian, The latter series the author intended to revise before reprinting, but his preoccupation with his dramatic work, and eventually his illness, prevented him from doing so. They were, however, included in the Collected Edition as they appeared, and are here reprinted under the title In Connemara, for although only the hastily written records of a journey through the West of Ireland, they contain many characteristic passages which it is felt those interested in Synge's work will wish to have in this permanent form. The publishers desire to thank the editors of the Manchester Guardian and the Shanachie for permission to reprint the articles which appeared in their columns.
