Indicators for chemical information transfer in the textile value chain by Bylund, Anna,Stibolt, Mogens,Gustavsson, Nicklas Pdf

Available online: https://pub.norden.org/temanord2022-549/ This new Nordic report aims to feed into discussions related to indicators for the envisaged global target on improved chemical information throughout the textile value chain. It provides input from stakeholders in the textile industry and the study gives two suggestions for possible indicators to be developed. Textile companies commonly make use of Restricted Substance Lists, RSLs to collect chemical information. Use of commonly agreed RSLs of a similar scope could be used to indicate increases in chemical information flow as they require a certain amount of information to be complied. A second indicator could be measuring the amount/share/percentage of a company’s production for which there is transparency or traceability when it comes to chemical content. This information would have the potential to provide textile recyclers with useful information.

Sustainable Textile and Fashion Value Chains by André Matthes,Katja Beyer,Holger Cebulla,Marlen Gabriele Arnold,Anton Schumann Pdf

This book illustrates key sustainability issues in global textile and fashion value chains, by examining individual types of fibers either at a single step in or along the entire value chain. It approaches sustainability-related issues in the textile and fashion value chain from an interdisciplinary and holistic viewpoint, with each contribution linking questions on the textile and fashion value chain to various drivers, indicators and concepts of sustainability. Each chapter represents a single step in the textile and fashion value chain, exploring and considering a wide range of interwoven and interdependent technological, environmental, social, political and economic aspects. Various fibers, textile engineering and chemical treatment steps, as well as innovative business concepts and regulatory frameworks across the entire textile and fashion value chain are identified, analyzed, discussed and critically evaluated. The book provides a systematic overview of the potential and challenges of sustainable textile and fashion value chains, making it of interest to practitioners and scientists in sustainability science, environmental economics, and business, management and innovation. Further, it offers a valuable source of information for industrial and mechanical engineering researchers, and for students in the areas of textile engineering, fashion, or the apparel and clothing industry.

Introduction to Zimbabwe by Gilad James, PhD Pdf

Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in southern Africa, bordered by South Africa to the south, Botswana to the west, Zambia to the north, and Mozambique to the east. The country has a population of approximately 14.4 million people, with the majority living in rural areas. Zimbabwe gained its independence from British colonial rule in 1980 and has been governed by the Zimbabwe African National Union - Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) since then. Zimbabwe's economy has faced many challenges in recent years, including hyperinflation, a shortage of foreign currency, and political instability. Agriculture is the largest sector of the economy, with the majority of the population engaged in subsistence farming. The country is also rich in minerals such as gold, platinum, and diamonds. Despite its economic struggles, Zimbabwe remains a popular tourist destination, known for its wildlife, natural beauty, and historical landmarks such as Great Zimbabwe, a 15th-century stone city that is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Tiger Economies Under Threat by Shahid Yusuf,Kaoru Nabeshima Pdf

In recent years, growth rates in the so-called 'Tiger economies' of Southeast Asia have been above the average not only for developing countries but for the world as a whole. Yet they fall short of the economic growth experienced during 1975 95. The underlying worry for policy makers is that the decrease presages the beginning of a downward trend, a worry that has been sharpened by the global recession. But are the Tiger economies under threat? And if so, what are the causes and how can they be addressed? This book employs a comparative analysis of the Southeast Asian Tiger economies, centered on Malaysia, to tackle these questions. The findings presented will be of particular interest to policy makers, academics, business people, and researchers.
