Ethiopia is a country where there are lots of nations and nationalityies live together. Ethiopia is a country with a population of over 86 ethnic groups. The Bench ethnic group was formerly known as the Gimira people, especially before 1983 E C, and in the previous system, the name (Gimira) was used in various regimes. Based on this, some of bench elite claim that the ethnic group originated in Israel, citing the Gimira, the lost tribes from the House of Israel, as having disappeared from Israel and their where about in the world unknown, according to a Google search engine. They say it can be found, see, for example, a website. As expected, the Bench ethnic group is currently divided into three main ethnic groups, the Mer, Bench, and Shey Bench, with the same language, culture, tradition, and psychology, and lives in a similar way in terms of appearance and colour, but it has many ethnic groups, numerous genealogies, and other identities. In terms of language, all the people speak called Benc’ non. In English what we call mouth of Bench. Culturally, the details described in this article are to be applied to most of the Heritage culture, experience and tradition must do for most of them. This article deals with one of the most recognizable figure of bench people which make them unique from other is called marriages - ceremonies.

Ethiopia is a multi-ethnic country with over eighty-five different ethnic groups and diverse cultural traits scattered throughout the country. Each ethnic group has their own cultural beliefs and practices that play a dominant role in shaping the behavior and action of its members. Bench people, as any other societies in Ethiopia, have their own forms of marriage and family system based on their culture. Families exist in all societies and they are part of what makes us human. However, societies around the world demonstrate tremendous variation in cultural understandings of family and marriage. Ideas about how people are related to each other, what kind of marriage would be ideal, when people should have children, who should care for children, and many other family related matters differ cross-culturally. Therefore, this study attempts to assess the marriage and family practices among Bench people. This study has both thematic and geographical delimitations depending on budget and scope of the study. Thematically, it assessed customary marriage practices of Bench people, types of marriage, kinds of marriage payment, the role marriage and family in the Bench people. Geographically, the study is delimited to Bench sheko zone, in SNNPR on the selected two kebeles namely Shasheqa and Hibret. The target group of the study (interview) is selected from both the rural and urban places which incorporated different areas engaged in marriage and also who are not engaged of males and females. It will focus on identification of the marriage and family aspects of the Bench community.

This book presents a timely review of the relations between the formal and customary justice systems in Ethiopia, and offers recommendations for legal reform. The book provides cases studies from all the Region of Ethiopia based on field research on the working of customary dispute resolution (CDR) institutions, their mandates, compositions, procedures and processes. The cases studies also document considerable unofficial linkages with the state judicial system, and consider the advantages as well as the limitations of customary institutions with respect to national and international law. The editor's introduction reviews the history of state law and its relations with customary law, summarises the main findings by region as well as as on inter-ethnic issues, and draws conclusions about social and legal structures, principles of organization, cultural concepts and areas, and judicial processes. The introduction also addresses the questions of inclusion and exclusion on the basis of gerontocratic power, gender, age and marginalised status, and the gradual as well as remarkable recent transformations of CDR institutions. The editor's conclusion reviews the characteristics, advantages and limitations of CDR institutions. A strong case is made for greater recognition of customary systems and better alliance with state justice, while safeguarding individual and minority rights. The editors suggest that the current context of greater decentralization opens up opportunities for pratical collaboration between the systems by promoting legal pluralism and reform, thereby enhancing local level justice delivery. Ethiopia, as signatory of these international human right instruments, the FDRE constitution stipulates the right to political participation right of all Nation, Nationalities and People of the country without any discrimination. However, regional states, like Benishangul-Gumuz, had face serious criticism that ‘non-indigenous’ people are face serious problem in the enjoyment of their right to political participation. This research has aimed to assess the political participation of ‘non-indigenous’ people of Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State in a case study of Bambasi Woreda. It looks and measures the participation of ‘non-indigenous’ people in public decision making and assess the ‘indigenous’ vs. ‘non-indigenous’ composition of institutions of Bambasi Woreda’s administration and normative instruments for the accommodation and consideration of the right to political participation of ‘non-indigenous’ people. In investigating reliable data, the researcher utilizes the qualitative research approaches unstructured in-depth interview, key informant interview and field observation as data collection instruments, in combination with different documents and articles. As findings of the study reveal, the right to political participation has been shortened by normative and institutional constraints that range from the federal up to the Kebele administration level. Hence, it is highly recommended that there must be a structural change that helps to establish an inclusive normative and administrative institution which ranges from the reconsideration of ‘non-indigenous people up to a constitutional amendment and complete re-institutionalization of the administration.
