The effects of certain water-reducing admixtures on the workability, heat generation, strength, cost, and other characterisitcs of mass concrete mixtures containing large amounts of pozzolan and small amounts of portland cement were reported and discussed in Report 13 of this series. The effects of these water-reducing admixtures on the temperature rise of eleven mass concrete mixtures containing large amounts of pozzolan and small amounts of portland cement were also investigated and the results are presented in the present report. Temperature rise was not significantly affected by the use of the chemical admixtures. The results of the tests of the concrete mixtures containing chemical admixtures indicated that the quality of those mixtures was as good as or better than that of the control concrete mixtures, which did not contain the admixtures.
