Catriona Rowntree, bestselling author and host of Getaway MICHAEL CROSSLAND IS A SURVIVOR Everything Will Be OK is the awe-inspiring story of Michael's journey from enduring life-threatening cancer as a child, to representing Australia playing baseball in the USA, to becoming an accomplished businessman and a globally in-demand inspirational speaker, starting an orphanage in Haiti and taking national ambassador roles with many organisations including Camp Quality. The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch Pdf

After being diagnosed with terminal cancer, a professor shares the lessons he's learned—about living in the present, building a legacy, and taking full advantage of the time you have—in this life-changing classic. "We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand." —Randy Pausch A lot of professors give talks titled "The Last Lecture." Professors are asked to consider their demise and to ruminate on what matters most to them. And while they speak, audiences can't help but mull over the same question: What wisdom would we impart to the world if we knew it was our last chance? If we had to vanish tomorrow, what would we want as our legacy? When Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon, was asked to give such a lecture, he didn't have to imagine it as his last, since he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But the lecture he gave—"Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams"—wasn't about dying. It was about the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others, of seizing every moment (because "time is all you have . . . and you may find one day that you have less than you think"). It was a summation of everything Randy had come to believe. It was about living. In this book, Randy Pausch has combined the humor, inspiration and intelligence that made his lecture such a phenomenon and given it an indelible form. It is a book that will be shared for generations to come.

The Polygamist by William Irvine Pdf

One man, many wives In The Polygamist, William Irvine explores love, sex, and marriage within the context of an unusual household. An exploration of sexual fantasy and desire, ultimately The Polygamist is a coming of age story with a strong spiritual theme. Set at the end of the seventies, a time when experimentation with alternative lifestyles and sexual relationships was rife, The Polygamist follows the fortunes of Omar Al Ghamdi, Saudi-born but educated in the West; a man who is the product of two irreconcilable cultures. After two decades he has come to experience philandering as increasingly superficial; but vehemently opposed to monogamous fidelity, turns to polygamy as the solution to his high turnover existence. His hope is that taking several wives will provide him with a more honest and satisfying alternative, allowing him to engage in deeper relationships whilst still giving a long enough leash to his sexuality. Having pursued his goal without compromise by entering into serial arranged marriages, he lives with his household on a remote house on Colva Beach in Goa. Does the reality live up to the dream? And, what is it like for the women? How can one man possibly satisfy multiple female partners? Written from an unashamedly male perspective, The Polygamist will appeal to those wishing to understand male sexuality and the desires that shape all of our lives and relationships.

Why Bob Dylan Matters by Richard F. Thomas Pdf

FULLY REVISED AND UPDATED. “The coolest class on campus” – The New York Times When the Nobel Prize for Literature was awarded to Bob Dylan in 2016, a debate raged. Some celebrated, while many others questioned the choice. How could the world’s most prestigious book prize be awarded to a famously cantankerous singer-songwriter who wouldn’t even deign to attend the medal ceremony? In Why Bob Dylan Matters, Harvard Professor Richard F. Thomas answers this question with magisterial erudition. A world expert on Classical poetry, Thomas was initially ridiculed by his colleagues for teaching a course on Bob Dylan alongside his traditional seminars on Homer, Virgil, and Ovid. Dylan’s Nobel Prize brought him vindication, and he immediately found himself thrust into the spotlight as a leading academic voice in all matters Dylanological. Today, through his wildly popular Dylan seminar—affectionately dubbed "Dylan 101"—Thomas is introducing a new generation of fans and scholars to the revered bard’s work. This witty, personal volume is a distillation of Thomas’s famous course, and makes a compelling case for moving Dylan out of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and into the pantheon of Classical poets. Asking us to reflect on the question, "What makes a classic?", Thomas offers an eloquent argument for Dylan’s modern relevance, while interpreting and decoding Dylan’s lyrics for readers. The most original and compelling volume on Dylan in decades, Why Bob Dylan Matters will illuminate Dylan’s work for the Dylan neophyte and the seasoned fanatic alike. You’ll never think about Bob Dylan in the same way again.

The Unpredictable Heart by MoKSh Pdf

"The Unpredictable Heart - You may be a Victim", is the story of a boy named Mrinav who comes from a middle-class background. Mrinav is an introvert, down to earth and a caring boy, who loves to keep everyone happy all the time. One day, Mrinav encounters a question from his best friend, which drags him into a flashback, reminding him of his past infatuations and love. He had a series of infatuations within a short span of 7 years. This novel is a description of how these infatuations developed into love. Love (Infatuation) at first sight, Infatuation converting into one-sided love, and then finally to departure. He was heartbroken often trying to persuade his lady loves. In his memories, Mrinav cherished the beautiful and memorable days he had of experiencing young love. The novel plays between fantasy and reality describing how events like Valentine's Day, Birthdays and more, get converted into memorable days. And as his time flies by, his life goes through all the usual metamorphoses. While his love-seeking heart refuses to take rest. Mrinav goes through a mixture of love, infatuations and illusive emotions. His craziness with his cab-mates while traveling to his office adds spice at different parts of the novel. Apart from Mrinav, there are a few other characters in the story as well adding the comic relief. The group included Jatin, Suzi, Omi, Shoeb, Sanjay and Sameer. They all knew that Mrinav was sentimental, who would give party at any point of time, and that too without any reason. Jatin is keen at every instant, trying to persuade Mrinav for unusual parties almost every weekend. He, being his best friend, also takes every care that there is no one to point a finger at Mrinav. Mrinav's greatest undoing is his introvert nature that at one point of the novel leaves him stranded all alone. At various instances in the novel, you would feel Mrinav missing his last train in life, while flirting with girls, cracking poems and indulging in unnecessary activities.

A Series of Unfortunate Events 01. The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket Pdf

There is nothing to be found in the pages of A Series of Unfortunate Events but misery and despair. You still have time to choose another international best-seller to read. But if you must know what unpleasantries befall the charming and clever Baudelaire children read on . . . In The Bad Beginning the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune and cold porridge for breakfast. Then again, why trouble yourself with the unfortunate resolutions? With 5 million copies sold in the UK alone, one might consider Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events to make him one of the most successful children’s authors of the past decade. We, however, consider these miserable so-called adventure stories and the Hollywood film starring Jim Carrey that accompanied the books for children as nothing more than a dreadful mistake.
