Jeremiah by Matthew S. Harmon Pdf

The Knowing the Bible series is a resource designed to help Bible readers better understand and apply God's Word. These 12-week studies lead participants through books of the Bible and are made up of four basic components: (1) reflection questions help readers engage the text at a deeper level; (2) "Gospel Glimpses" highlight the gospel of grace throughout the book; (3) "Whole-Bible Connections" show how any given passage connects to the Bible's overarching story of redemption, culminating in Christ; and (4) "Theological Soundings" identify how historic orthodox doctrines are taught or reinforced throughout Scripture. With contributions from an array of influential pastors and church leaders, these gospel-centered studies will help Christians see and cherish the message of God's grace on every page of the Bible. Appointed to be a prophet before he was born, Jeremiah faithfully preached God's Word in the face of confusion, opposition, and persecution. When instructed, he brought the message of God's righteous judgment against sin to the nation of Israel, but not without reminding them of God's covenant faithfulness. In this 12-week study, Matthew Harmon highlights key biblical themes, clarifies crucial doctrines, and draws personal applications from the book of Jeremiah—reminding us of the truth that God's proclamation of judgment is always intended to spur his people to seek salvation in and through him.

No More Faking Fine by Esther Fleece Allen Pdf

Scripture reveals a God who meets us where we are, not where we pretend to be. No More Faking Fine is your invitation to get honest with God through the life-giving language of lament. If you've ever been given empty clichés during challenging times, you know how painful it is to be misunderstood by well-meaning people. When life hurts, we often feel pressure--from others and ourselves--to keep it together, suck it up, or pray it away. But Scripture reveals a God who lovingly invites us to give honest voice to our emotions when life hits hard. For most of her life, Esther Fleece Allen believed she could bypass the painful emotions of her broken past by shutting them down altogether. She was known as an achiever and an overcomer on the fast track to success. But in silencing her pain, she robbed herself of the opportunity to be healed. Maybe you've done the same. Esther's journey into healing began when she discovered that God has given us a real-world way to deal with raw emotions and an alternative to the coping mechanisms that end up causing more pain. It's called lament--the gut-level, honest prayer that God never ignores, never silences, and never wastes. No More Faking Fine is your permission to lament, taking you on a journey down the unexpected pathway to true intimacy with God. Drawing from careful biblical study and hard-won insight, Esther reveals how to use God's own language to come closer to him as he leads us through our pain to the light on the other side, teaching you that: We are robbing ourselves of a divine mystery and a divine intimacy when we pretend to have it all together God does not expect us to be perfect; instead, he meets us where we are There is hope beyond your heartache, disappointment, and grief Like Esther, you'll soon find that when one person stops faking fine, it gives everyone else permission to do the same.

A Mouth Full of Fire by Andrew G. Shead Pdf

"I am putting my words as a fire in your mouth; these people are tinder and it will consume them." (Jeremiah 5:14) In the book of Jeremiah, not only is the vocabulary of "word" and "words" uniquely prevalent, but formulae marking divine speech also play an unprecedented role in giving the book's final form its narrative and theological shape. Indeed, "the word of the Lord" is arguably the main character, and a theology that is both distinctive and powerful can be seen to emerge from the unfolding narrative. In this stimulating study, Andrew Shead examines Jeremiah's use of word language; the prophet's formation as an embodiment of the word of God; his covenant preaching and the crisis it precipitates concerning the recognition of true prophecy; and, in the "oracles of hope," how the power of the word of God is finally made manifest. Shead then brings this reading of Jeremiah to bear on some issues in contemporary theology, including the problem of divine agency and the doctrine of Scripture, and concludes by engaging Jeremiah's doctrine of the Word of God in conversation with Karl Barth. The prophet's major contribution emerges from his careful differentiation of "word" and "words." Addressing key issues in biblical theology, the works comprising New Studies in Biblical Theology are creative attempts to help Christians better understand their Bibles. The NSBT series is edited by D. A. Carson, aiming to simultaneously instruct and to edify, to interact with current scholarship and to point the way ahead.

Great Is His Faithfulness by Tammera S. Moore Pdf

I started a project to assemble a collection of my poetry, but as I began to assemble this collection I realized that there was more to tell. Because I am a spirit-filled Christian my love for God is reflected in most of my works. Some of my works come from my fantasies and illusions of how life and love should be, and some come from the people that I have been privileged to know and call my friends. My poetry is a gift from God, given to me through the people, places and circumstances that make up my life. God puts the inspiration in my life and puts the words in my heart, I just put it down on paper. So I decided to include stories about some of the poems and what inspired them. As I started adding these stories, it was clear that I was sharing the testimony of how God has worked in me and through me. I wanted to provide the reader with scriptures that support my testimony. So I added Bible study topics with room provided for taking notes. A note about the Study Topics included in the book: As a new Christian I was always hungry to learn more about God, about His word and His will for my life. I found that a study edition bible was an invaluable resource for me to learn more and grow in my faith and in my understanding. The study Bible that I have includes almost 300 different thematic articles for study. I chose only a few topics that I believed to be relevant for inclusion in this book. I referenced my study Bible for information, for chapters/verses to reference, and for quotes, but the study topics included here are written to express my understanding of the Bibles teaching, to express my opinion and my beliefs. Since I am not a theologian or educated in the seminary, I did ask my own Pastor to review these study topics for accuracy and completeness. For any of my readers who dont already have that personal relationship with God, these bible study topics are a starting point for learning more about His awesome love for us all. Just as they have been a starting point for me in my infancy as a Christian. This is by no means all there is to know or learn, as Christians we should always be hungry to learn more about Gods word and His will for us. Because none of us can ever know everything there is to know about God, we should continually seek knowledge of His will for us. It is my sincere hope that this collection of works will move and inspire. But most of all, I pray that it will bring others to salvation in Christ.
