Work at Home Now by Christine Durst,Michael Haaren Pdf

Many legitimate home-based jobs and projects can be found online, but trustworthy guidance is scarce. Worse, with a 56-to-1 “scam ratio” in work-at-home ads, the terrain is a minefield of fraud. Nevertheless, customer service agents, researchers, test scorers, tutors, writers, and concierges are just a few of the many people regularly hired to work from home. A growing number of Fortune 500 companies, including UnitedHealth Group, American Express, and Northrop Grumman, also hire home-based personnel. In Work at Home Now, you'll learn: The top insider tips on "good" and "bad" Google search terms. How to find the "needles in the haystack" on Craigslist, Indeed, Monster, CareerBuilder, and other big sites. Where the real jobs for mystery shoppers, transcriptionists and similar part-time specialties can be found. Scam-spotting tips that even law enforcement doesn't know. Including interviews with hiring managers and successful home-based workers, Work at Home Now is the ultimate guide to finding the work-at-home job or project you want most.

Breaking Away From Broken Windows by Ralph Taylor Pdf

In Breaking Away from Broken Windows Ralph Taylor uses data on recent Baltimore crime-reduction efforts to attack the 'broken windows' thesis--that is, the currently fashionable notion that by reducing or eliminating superficial signs of disorder (dilapidated buildings, graffiti, incivil behavior by teenagers, etc.), urban police deparments can make significant and lasting reductions in crime. Taylor argues that such measures, while useful, are only a partial solution to the problem at hand. His data supports a materialist view: changes in levels of physical decay, superficial social disorder, and racial composition do not lead to higher crime, while economic decline does. He contends that the Baltimore example shows that in order to make real, long-term reductions in crime, urban politicians, businesses, and community leaders must work together to improve the economic fortunes of those living in high-crime areas.

China's Porcelain Capital by Maris Boyd Gillette Pdf

Maris Boyd Gillette's groundbreaking study tells the story of Jingdezhen, China's porcelain capital, from its origins in 1004 in Song dynasty China to the present day. Gillette explores how Jingdezhen has been affected by state involvement in porcelain production, particularly during the long 20th century. She considers how the Chinese government has consumed, invested in, taxed and managed the local ceramics industry, and the effects of this state intervention on ceramists' lives, their local environment and the nature of the goods they produce. Gillette traces how Jingdezhen experienced the transition from imperial rule to state ownership under communism, the changing fortunes of the ceramics industry in the early 21st century, the decay and decline that accompanied privatisation, and a revival brought about by an entrepreneurial culture focusing on the manufacture of highly-prized 'art porcelain'.

Reflections of a Baby Boomer by Janice Hiatt Steil Pdf

The seventy-six million Americans born between 1946 and 1965 have reshaped America with their style, their tastes and, above all, by their sheer numbers. The Boomers are passing through American history, outnumbering the previous generation by a staggering 28 million. This book is a refreshing reminder of what we considered the simpler, quieter times of the fifties, surviving the turbulent sixties and further impressions of a baby boomer growing up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Hopefully, it will take you on a trip down memory lane. Times have changed so much from the fifties, some for the good, some for the bad, but life does go on and we as "baby boomers" will survive.
