Hope for This Present Crisis: The Seven-Step Path to Restoring a World Gone Mad by Michael Youssef Pdf

Our culture has lost its mind. Now, we are waging a bigger fight--a war for our soul. Is it possible our world has gone mad? We are under siege and the war is not from without; it is from within. The collapse of the Roman Empire occurred in a single generation and was not so much the result of invasions by their enemies but the result of moral decay and internal corruption. Similar patterns are emerging in America. We neglected or abandoned our traditional institutions long ago, but now it's time to take them back. Today, forces are at work to strip the principles and precepts of faith from public venues or minimize their significance. Many progressive leaders are convinced that when Christianity disintegrates it will create peace on earth. But the loss of our heritage will merely create a spiritual vacuum that will be filled with folly, crammed with chaos, or invaded by Islam. The reality is: Western civilization will become so decadent and reckless that America will collapse like a house of cards. In Hope for This Present Crisis, Dr. Youssef provides a diagnosis of the insanity of the current culture and a seven-step prescription for restoring sanity to a world gone mad. Here's the seven-step path to restoring a world gone mad: Remember the Truth - Stand firm on the truth of the gospel. Restore the Soul - Seek God's approval─ not the approval of other people. Revitalize theFamily - Guard your children from the horrors of the Internet. Reestablish the Classroom - Support conscientious, caring public school teachers. Respect our Freedoms - Know your rights. Reform our Society - Morally and spiritually purify yourself. Revive the Church - Demonstrate the forgiving love of Jesus at all times. This book will teach you how to stand up to attacks on your faith, and defend Christianity as a meaningful contribution to society.

Australian Soldiers in Asia-Pacific in World War II by Lachlan Grant Pdf

Half a million Australians encountered a new world when they entered Asia and the Pacific during World War II: different peoples, cultures, languages and religions chafing under the grip of colonial rule. Moving beyond the battlefield, this book tells the story of how mid-century experiences of troops in Asia-Pacific shaped how we feel about our nation’s place in the region and the world. Spanning the vast region from New Guinea to Southeast Asia and India, Lachlan Grant uncovers affecting tales of friendship, grief, spiritual awakening, rebellion, incarceration, sex and souvenir hunting. Focusing on the day-to-day interactions between soldiers on the ground and the people and cultures they encountered, this book paints a picture not only of individual lives transformed, but of dramatically shifting national perceptions, as the gaze of Australia turned from Britain to Asia.

The Valley of the Shadow by Christopher Gilpin Pdf

The title of this book reflects a time in my life when I was surrounded by death and the possibility of not making the return journey home from combat in Iraq in 2005–2006. I felt a deep obligation to tell my two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Chrisraine, about the boy that I was and the soldier that I became should I not make it back home to tell her in person. This book chronicles my childhood beginning with my first indelible memory at age four, describing the people, places, and events that molded me into the man and soldier that I became until my son, Christophe, turned four years old. Valley of the Shadow was an easy choice as the title for me because of the biblical and literal connection to me as I experienced combat and lived in a space and time defined by death and the will to overcome that fear. That shadow was ever present, and I fought hard and willed myself not to be engulfed by it. I was much more to my family than a soldier, and I wanted my daughter to know the boy that I was and what made me into the soldier that I became. This journey was filled with periods of joy and great happiness as well as uncertainty and sadness as a boy and much the same as a soldier. I excelled at the things that I applied myself to but was always challenged to perform in order to continue receiving the pleasures of everyday life or to survive a day in combat. So both my childhood and my profession were valleys oftentimes reflecting low points and high points with a sense of duty to survive and overcome the day at hand.

My Path to Peace and Justice by Richard T. McSorley Pdf

Richard T. McSorley, S. J. (1914 - 2002) led an extraordinary life. He survived a World War II prison camp to become one of the great peacemakers of the twentieth century. From struggles against segregation in the late forties to Vietnam War protests in the sixties to condemnation of nuclear weapons in the eighties, McSorley has been on the cutting edge of the great social justice movements of the last half-century. His life crossed paths with many of the world's most notable figures: Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin; Martin Luther King, Jr.; Daniel and Philip Berrigan; the Kennedy family; Bill Clinton; Don Helder Camara; and a host of peace leaders from throughout the world. In this autobiography published six years before his death, McSorley documents his life, his travels throughout Europe, South American, Central America and the Middle East. His descriptions of these events form a backdrop of the real story - his spiritual journey toward active peacemaking and unswerving pacifism. Through it all he weaves the thread of the theology of peace. He applies gospel principles to our social and government structures. McSorley may be best known for his ability to cut through academic arguments to state the truth in the most basic of terms. He counters the justification of war with the biblical call to love enemies. This book is an account of a life devoted to God and of service to the community.

Vietnam and Christianity by Don Boudreaux Pdf

The Lord works providentially in all things, even the most negative experiences imaginable-including war. Don Boudreaux joined the military at seventeen-years-old and went to fight in Vietnam at eighteen, where he experienced combat for almost a year before being severely wounded. Becoming a Christian seven years later, Don began questioning God about the purpose in sending him to war. God answered: I sent you to war so you could become a spiritual warrior. Don has committed his life to fighting the good fight of faith and being a spiritual warrior, and he shares his journey in Vietnam and Christianity. He brilliantly correlates his experiences in Vietnam to specific Scriptures, encouraging readers to live as a believer in Christ and to fight courageously against attacks from Satan. Whether discussing artillery and helicopters or food rations and insects, he intertwines God's Word, leaving you filled with hope and ready to take the offense in spiritual warfare. He also boldly introduces prophetic ministry and other spiritual gifts to embolden you to step out in faith and become warriors for Christ.
