Journey To The Promised Land by Nancy Blackburn Pdf

The people in the story are Hebrew and they live on Love Boot Island. They make their living by manufacturing boots from the skins of animals and other materials. They called the boots 'Love Boots' and they worked night and day making them. The symbol of the love boot, a small pink heart, was placed at the top on the outside of each boot. The boots were shipped to all parts of the world, and the people bought and loved them because of their design, durability, comfort and colors. Males and females of all ages wore their boots to parties, school, and work. For whatever the occasion, there were boots. One day it quit raining. Days passed, and still there wasn't any rain. There was no water for the gardens and they dried up. The fresh green grass dried up and the land turned all brown. The trees did not have leaves on them anymore. Where the creeks and rivers once flowed, there was dried cracked mud. Everything was a sad sight because there wasn't any more water. The people were desperate as they could not work and eat any more. Mommies and daddies went to the grocery store, but there was no more food on the shelves or in the land and the people were hungry, as the 'Great Famine' covered the land. In order to save their 777 famine babies, read the story to find out what the Hebrew people did. This is a family story and third graders and over will enjoy the reading.

The Sun Is a Compass by Caroline Van Hemert Pdf

For fans of Cheryl Strayed, the gripping story of a biologist's human-powered journey from the Pacific Northwest to the Arctic to rediscover her love of birds, nature, and adventure. During graduate school, as she conducted experiments on the peculiarly misshapen beaks of chickadees, ornithologist Caroline Van Hemert began to feel stifled in the isolated, sterile environment of the lab. Worried that she was losing her passion for the scientific research she once loved, she was compelled to experience wildness again, to be guided by the sounds of birds and to follow the trails of animals. In March of 2012, she and her husband set off on a 4,000-mile wilderness journey from the Pacific rainforest to the Alaskan Arctic, traveling by rowboat, ski, foot, raft, and canoe. Together, they survived harrowing dangers while also experiencing incredible moments of joy and grace -- migrating birds silhouetted against the moon, the steamy breath of caribou, and the bond that comes from sharing such experiences. A unique blend of science, adventure, and personal narrative, The Sun is a Compass explores the bounds of the physical body and the tenuousness of life in the company of the creatures who make their homes in the wildest places left in North America. Inspiring and beautifully written, this love letter to nature is a lyrical testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Winner of the 2019 Banff Mountain Book Competition: Adventure Travel

Memories: Journey into an Immigrant’S Mind by Emanuel Paparella Pdf

As its title powerfully suggests, this bookwhile being a personal memoir, a narration of ones life journey from sunrise to sunsettranscends the personal. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that these memories are the memories of an immigrant who has lived in the country as a US citizen (with an American-born father) for some sixty years. It is much more than a list of events and anecdotes of an immigrant experience. It is written in a Dantesque and Vichian spirit, and as such, it goes beyond the listing of historical events and people. More than a physical journey, it is an intellectual journey into the mind of an immigrant in search of ones self and ones ethnic identity. As such, it is a universal journey with which nonimmigrants, even native-born, can easily emphatize. Our common humanity makes it universal. As Dante well put it when he began the narration of his lifes journey, In the middle of the journey of our lives, I found myself in a dark wood. As Dante begins the journey guided by Virgil and Breatrice, he finds out that indeed the journey is universal beyond the purely personal. As Michelangelo said, Ancor imparo [I am still learning]. He uttered such a statement at the venerable age of eighty-nine, a few days before he died. He was still sculpting and learning. Likewise, if we dare to begin the journey, at whatever age we may find ourselves, we may soon find out that we too are still learning, and the journey may well have a common purpose and destination.

Journey from Gauntlet to Paradise by Roger Vincent Pdf

Journey from Gauntlet to Paradise begins with author Roger Vincent's early years as a curly-haired little boy on Grandma's Hill Farm and follows the author and his wife through their life travels. A thrilling, awe-inspiring journey awaits all who venture along with author Roger Vincent, and the love of his life, Betty May, as they journey through over sixty national parks along the way. We all live in critical times, times that are crucial and sometimes even dangerous. The Bible informs us that God is a God of exclusive devotion, but who can manage to do that? Vincent tells us not to worry because God doesn't expect us to exclusively devote ourselves to Him. If it were not for God excusing our errors, none of us would survive his inevitable day of reckoning! Through his life's journey, he comes to understand the fact that despite who we are, we will all face judgment day when we die. The question he poses is this: who among us has a strong and solid knowledge of God and the Bible? They are the ones who will draw closer to God.

LED BY CARMA - A Journey to India by Junzo Kokubo Pdf

This is a story of a young Japanese-Canadian acupuncturist who visited "Dharamsala" city in the northwestern part of India where Tibetan people live under their exiled leader the Dalai Lama. His one-month-long journey to India was a series of "shocking and amazing" experiences from the very beginning to the end. For example, the eye-poping chaotic and appauling traffic situation in Delih, dirty and smelly urban area vs breath-taking beauty of the rural India, pre-historic lifestyle coexiting with modern life, uncomparable Indian poverty and wealth, eternal history and abundance of cultural heritage, sheer vastness of the flat land and towering gigantic Himarayan mountains, etc., etc. During his stay in Dharamsala, he attended the daily lectures of traditional Tibetan medicine, then dedicated himself to treat Tibetan refugee people as many as possible as a voluntary work. On the last day of his stay in Dharamsala, he had the honor to meet His Holiness the Dalai Lama and received his blessing and gratitude. The author's very vivid and descriptive writing will make the readers feel as if they are also travelling along with him throughout India and the daily events. Contents; (1) - The first shock (2) - The Second Shock (3) - Historical background (4) - A New Buddha Land in India (5) - Tibetan people in exile (6) - Conquest of Himalayan Summit (7) - Japanese Acupuncture Boom (8) - Tibetan Children's Village (9) - Meeting with the Dalai Lama (10) - Eternal Taj Mahal and India
