Key Connections by M. A. Erickson Pdf

Exploring the changes between the Old and New Testament provides an open window to the wide-ranging vision of God’s work in the human race. It is actually a remarkable vision, which stretches from the beginning of the universe to the end of time as we know it. But many aspects of the Old Testament are difficult to understand today. The ancient origins of the Old Testament (OT) explains part of the difficulty. The OT was written thousands of years ago, in cultures and time periods very different from our own. These vast differences in culture make many practices in the OT seem unusual today. Understanding and making sense of the changes between the OT and NT is one of the key purposes of this book. Many changes become more understandable when you compare God’s instructions for a nation (OT), with God’s instructions for freely gathered communities of faith who follow Jesus as Messiah (NT). These changes will be highlighted in the chapters of this volume, along with other key principles for understanding differences between the Old and New Testament. God’s greater purposes will be in view, along with current insights and concepts.

Global and Regional Dynamics in Knowledge Flows and Innovation by Chris Van Egeraat,Dieter Kogler,Phil Cooke Pdf

Innovation, which in essence is the generation of knowledge and its subsequent application in the marketplace in the form of novel products and processes, has become the key concept in inquiries concerning the contemporary knowledge based economy. Geography plays a decisive role in the underlying processes that enable and support knowledge formation and diffusion activities. Place specific characteristics are considered especially important in this context, however, more recently investigation into innovative capacity of places has also turned its attention to external knowledge inputs through innovation networks, and increasingly recognize the evolutionary character of the processes that lead to knowledge creation and subsequent application in the marketplace. The chapters that comprise this book are embedded at the intersection of the dynamic processes of knowledge production and creative destruction. The first three contributions all discuss the role of global innovation networks, in the context of territorial and/or sectoral dynamics, while the following two chapters investigate the evolution of regional or metropolitan knowledge economies. The final three contributions adopt a knowledge base approach in order to provide insight into the organisation of innovation networks and spatiality of knowledge flows. This book was published in a special issue of European Planning Studies.

Mastering Autodesk Inventor 2020 by Curtis Waguespack Pdf

Autodesk Inventor was introduced in 1999 as an ambitious 3D parametric modeler based not on the familiar AutoCAD programming architecture but instead on a separate foundation that would provide the room needed to grow into the fully featured modeler it now is almost a decade later. Inventor 2009 marks a change of focus in the development of Inventor from an up-and-coming application to the current release with the inclusion of the design accelerator wizards and with refined core functions. The maturity of the Inventor tools happily coincides with the advancement of the CAD market’s adoption of 3D parametric modelers as a primary design tool. And although it is important to understand that 2D CAD will likely never completely disappear from the majority of manufacturing design departments, 3D design will increasingly become a requirement for most. With this in mind, we have set out to fill the following pages with detailed information on the specifics of the tools, while addressing the principles of sound parametric design techniques.

Surviving and Thriving in Uncertainty by Frederick Funston,Stephen Wagner Pdf

A new book to help senior executives and boards get smart about risk management The ability of businesses to survive and thrive often requires unconventional thinking and calculated risk taking. The key is to make the right decisions—even under the most risky, uncertain, and turbulent conditions. In the new book, Surviving and Thriving in Uncertainty: Creating the Risk Intelligent Enterprise, authors Rick Funston and Steve Wagner suggest that effective risk taking is needed in order to innovate, stay competitive, and drive value creation. Based on their combined decades of experience as practitioners, consultants, and advisors to numerous business professionals throughout the world, Funston and Wagner discuss the adoption of 10 essential and practical skills, which will improve agility, resilience, and realize benefits: Challenging basic business assumptions can help identify "Black Swans" and provide first-mover advantage Defining the corporate risk appetite and risk tolerances can help reduce the risk of ruin. Anticipating potential causes of failure can improve chances of survival and success through improved preparedness. Factoring in velocity and momentum can improve speed of response and recovery. Verifying sources and the reliability of information can improve insights for decision making and thus decision quality. Taking a longer-term perspective can aid in identifying the potential unintended consequences of short-term decisions.

Security Guide for IBM i V6.1 by Jim Cook,Juan Carlos Cantalupo,MinHoon Lee,IBM Redbooks Pdf

The IBM® i operation system (formerly IBM i5/OS®) is considered one of the most secure systems in the industry. From the beginning, security was designed as an integral part of the system. The System i® platform provides a rich set of security features and services that pertain to the goals of authentication, authorization, integrity, confidentiality, and auditing. However, if an IBM Client does not know that a service, such as a virtual private network (VPN) or hardware cryptographic support, exists on the system, it will not use it. In addition, there are more and more security auditors and consultants who are in charge of implementing corporate security policies in an organization. In many cases, they are not familiar with the IBM i operating system, but must understand the security services that are available. This IBM Redbooks® publication guides you through the broad range of native security features that are available within IBM i Version and release level 6.1. This book is intended for security auditors and consultants, IBM System Specialists, Business Partners, and clients to help you answer first-level questions concerning the security features that are available under IBM. The focus in this publication is the integration of IBM 6.1 enhancements into the range of security facilities available within IBM i up through Version release level 6.1. IBM i 6.1 security enhancements include: - Extended IBM i password rules and closer affinity between normal user IBM i operating system user profiles and IBM service tools user profiles - Encrypted disk data within a user Auxiliary Storage Pool (ASP) - Tape data save and restore encryption under control of the Backup Recovery and Media Services for i5/OS (BRMS) product, 5761-BR1 - Networking security enhancements including additional control of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption rules and greatly expanded IP intrusion detection protection and actions. DB2® for i5/OS built-in column encryption expanded to include support of the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption algorithm to the already available Rivest Cipher 2 (RC2) and Triple DES (Data Encryption Standard) (TDES) encryption algorithms. The IBM i V5R4 level IBM Redbooks publication IBM System i Security Guide for IBM i5/OS Version 5 Release 4, SG24-6668, remains available.

Mapping Psychopathology with fMRI and Effective Connectivity Analysis by Baojuan Li,Adeel Razi,Karl J. Friston Pdf

There is a growing appreciation that many psychiatric (and neurological) conditions can be understood as functional disconnection syndromes – as reflected in aberrant functional integration and synaptic connectivity. This Research Topic considers recent advances in understanding psychopathology in terms of aberrant effective connectivity – as measured noninvasively using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Recently, there has been increasing interest in inferring directed connectivity (effective connectivity) from fMRI data. Effective connectivity refers to the influence that one neural system exerts over another and quantifies the directed coupling among brain regions – and how they change with pathophysiology. Compared to functional connectivity, effective connectivity allows one to understand how brain regions interact with each other in terms of context sensitive changes and directed coupling – and therefore may provide mechanistic insights into the neural basis of psychopathology. Established models of effective connectivity include psychophysiological interaction (PPI), structural equation modeling (SEM) and dynamic causal modelling (DCM). DCM is unique because it explicitly models the interaction among brain regions in terms of latent neuronal activity. Moreover, recent advances in DCM such as stochastic and spectral DCM, make it possible to characterize the interaction between different brain regions both at rest and during a cognitive task.
