When Doctors Kill by Joshua A. Perper,Stephen J. Cina Pdf

It would come as no surprise that many readers may be shocked and intrigued by the title of our book. Some (especially our medical colleagues) may wonder why it is even worthwhile to raise the issue of killing by doctors. Killing is clearly an- thetical to the Art and Science of Medicine, which is geared toward easing pain and suffering and to saving lives rather than smothering them. Doctors should be a source of comfort rather than a cause for alarm. Nevertheless, although they often don’t want to admit it, doctors are people too. Physicians have the same genetic library of both endearing qualities and character defects as the rest of us but their vocation places them in a position to intimately interject themselves into the lives of other people. In most cases, fortunately, the positive traits are dominant and doctors do more good than harm. While physicists and mathematicians paved the road to the stars and deciphered the mysteries of the atom, they simultaneously unleashed destructive powers that may one day bring about the annihilation of our planet. Concurrently, doctors and allied scientists have delved into the deep secrets of the body and mind, mastering the anatomy and physiology of the human body, even mapping the very molecules that make us who we are. But make no mistake, a person is not simply an elegant b- logical machine to be marveled at then dissected.

Killer Doctors by Colin Evans Pdf

Doctors have at their disposal a number of devious ways to extinguish life—and just as many motives—should they desire. Some do. In Killer Doctors, the dark side of the men in white is revealed. So are the appalling crimes of those trusted healers. • Michael Swango, a.k.a. “Dr. Death,” one of history’s most notorious serial killers who may have killed at least 35 patients. • Charles Friedgood, whose shoddy surgeries and gruesome incompetence led to murder—and exposed the AMA’s “brotherhood of silence.” • The dim Bernard Finch, whose near-farcical plot to kill his wife revealed a murder so insanely ill-conceived and executed that it left jurors dumbfounded, amused, and deadlocked. • Plus even more shocking stories of grave malpractice, morbid bedside manners, and the chilling exploitations of a privileged profession.

Monsters Of Medicine by William W. Colliflower, M.D. Pdf

Medical training gave them the skills . . . Unfortunately evidence suggests that the medical profession is responsible for more serial killers then all other professions combined. Why is this so? Monsters of medicine chronicles the lives of five serial killer physicians in an effort to find a common thread in their lives. The author believes there is evidence to support that these doctors were all pathologic narcissists. Childhood abuse was present in all their lives. Medical training gave them the skills and opportunities for their murderous and torturous conduct. We are all patients and it is appalling to find institutions and monitoring bodies place reputation and potential liability above weeding out misconduct, incompetence, and our welfare. The fact that two of these killers were actively practicing medicine into the waning days of the 20th century should alert us that this subject is much more than just of historical interest. Key questions of cause, prevention, detection, and treatment are explored. Absolute answers are difficult to expose, but one thing remains almost certain. There is likely another serial killer physician practicing medicine at this time somewhere in the world.

Killer Doctors: Harold Shipman and Charles Edmund Cullen - 2 Books in 1! by Roger Harrington Pdf

KILLER DOCTORS: Harold Shipman and Charles Edmund Cullen - 2 Books in 1!Featuring*Harold Shipman*Charles Edmund Cullen Harold Shipman As a society, we are conditioned to believe that doctors will do their utmost to nurture our well-being, and protect our lives. We implicitly trust that people only go into such professions to care for their patients in a loving and attentive manner. Very few of us would suspect that someone claiming to promote our health would not do everything in their power to ensure our survival; and even fewer of us would suspect that someone whose job it is to keep us safe, would actively want to harm us. That blind trust is exactly the mentality that led to over 200 people being murdered at the hands of Britain's most prolific serial killer, Doctor Harold Fredrick Shipman. Shipman used the trust of his patients as a weapon against them. He managed to avoid detection as a murderer for almost 30 years by putting on a convincing performance as a conscientious care giver. He would persuade a victim's family that he had his patient's best interests at heart, even after he had injected their loved one with a lethal opiate overdose, and had watched them die. Charles Edmund Cullen Charles Edmund Cullen is a former nurse who is considered to be the most prolific serial killer in New Jersey history and possibly also in American history. He was born the youngest of eight children into a large New Jersey family. His childhood was largely an unhappy one, his father died when he was a few months old and Cullen was bullied throughout his schooling. Charles Edmund Cullen was still a young child when he made his first suicide attempt. It was far from being his last. After being discharged from the Navy Cullen trained as a nurse. While studying Cullen met Adrienne Taub, the couple would later marry. Shortly after the birth of his first daughter and the death of his brother Cullen killed his first known victim by means of lethal injection. This occurred whilst he was working at Saint Barnabas Hospital. Despite numerous concerns over his behavior and while Cullen's mental health continued to deteriorate, including further suicide attempts, he was allowed to continue working in a series of hospitals. This led to as many as40 people losing their lives. This book looks at how circumstances in Cullen's personal life, such as the breakdown of his marriage following his abusive behavior, sparked his killing sprees. We shall also discuss how, despite arousing some suspicions, Cullen's murderous behavior was allowed to continue for so long.

Killer Doctors by Kenneth Gibson Pdf

"Dr Harold Shipman may have been the most notorious of his ilk, but he was not alone. Despite the high regard in which they are held by society, doctors are driven by the same desires and needs as any other human being. And they are also susceptible to those demons that make murderers of some of us. But amongst this murderous cabal, there is one thing they all have in common ...an utter contempt for human life. In this well-researched insight into what society regards as one of the ultimate betrayals of trust, Kenny Gibson details 17 cases from around the world that betray differing motives and modus operandi. Among the doctors he covers are a dictator, a revolutionary and other assorted rogues from all walks of life. They include some famous names to UK readers such as Buck Ruxton, Crippen and Harold Shipman and some not so familiar like Levi Weil and Marcel Petiot. Their need to kill and have power over one's patients engenders a fear in us that other doctors, even the innocuous GP, could commit this betrayal of trust. Who knows, perhaps there are others already out there, waiting for the right moment to start their spree and satiate their darkest needs?" --Publishers description.

The Case of the Murderous Dr. Cream by Dean Jobb Pdf

The chilling true-crime story of the Victorian era’s deadliest doctor “When a doctor does go wrong, he is the first of criminals,” Sherlock Holmes observed during one of his most puzzling murder investigations. Incredibly, at the time the words of the world’s most famous fictional detective appeared in print in the Strand Magazine, a real-life Canadian doctor was stalking and murdering women in London’s downtrodden Lambeth neighbourhood. Dr. Thomas Neill Cream had been a suspect in the deaths of two women in Canada, and had killed as many as four people in Chicago before he arrived in London in 1891 and began using pills laced with strychnine to kill prostitutes. The Lambeth Poisoner, as he was dubbed in the press, became one of the most prolific serial killers in history. In this fascinating book, Dean Jobb reveals how bungled investigations, corrupt officials and failed prosecutions allowed Cream to evade detection or freed him to kill, again and again. The first complete account of Dr. Cream’s crimes and his many victims explores how the stifling morality and hypocrisy of the Victorian era allowed this monster to poison vulnerable and desperate women, many of whom had turned to him for medical help. It offers an inside account of Scotland Yard’s desperate search for a killer as brazen and efficient as Jack the Ripper.
