Kindness the Currency of a Civil Society by Q. Yunus Pdf

This book introduces the currency of Kindness as an alternative route to acquire success, happiness and a wealth that increases every time it is shared.By introducing Kindness as a currency, the reader is presented to each of the ten denominations of Kindness with explanations of what each denomination is, why it benefits both the giver and the receiver and how to spend it. Organisational usage of each denomination is also covered and enlightens the reader to the economic benefits of the use of this currency. This book aims to increase the awareness of the currency of Kindness, increase its circulation, its usage, thereby resulting in the increase in the wealth of the reader and the prosperity of society.Kindness - The Currency of a Civil Society is a practical guide as it invites the reader to select one or more denominations of their choosing and start spending it with their family, friends, their community and all of humanity. Kindness is not only the giving of money or material things. Kindness is itself a currency, whose ten denominations are Compassion, Courage, Creativity, Celebration, Forgiveness, Loyalty, Listening, Generativity, Humour and Respect. One of the objectives of this book is to allow the reader to develop a state of mind in which kindness becomes the underlying mode of operation. This book intends to allow you to see yourself as an individual with a higher purpose. The aim is to instill an awareness of what a great feeling it is to go through the hum drum of everyday life knowing that you actually have a higher mission. For the majority of us, our jobs are not who we are. Knowing in your mind that you have a greater purpose allows you to truly identify yourself. By making the giving of kindness, both to yourself and to others, your mission. You can lift yourself to a point where you see the obstacles in your path for what they really are, insignificant in the bigger picture. Having a higher purpose or an overwhelming objective in your life, is like a compass's true north. It guides us and gives us courage because it is profound and meaningful. This book will look at 10 methods of being kind without necessary giving money.

Generosity by Tibor R. Machan Pdf

Is generosity part of a good life? Do we have a legally enforceable obligation to be generous? Is the welfare state a form of generosity? What is generosity, and under what conditions are people generous? In Generosity: Virtue in Civil Society, Tibor Machan offers answers to those and many other questions. His work continues the long tradition of virtue ethics and shows how generosity is one of the benevolent virtues, which also include charity, kindness, and compassion, and can only be realized in combination with the "master virtue" of integrity or prudence. Machan argues that if people who spend their time defending and attempting to expand the welfare state were to devote similar attention to practicing the virtue of generosity and promoting it among their neighbors, relatives, coworkers, and friends, we would certainly live in a freer and more generous world. The abdication and usurpation of personal responsibility are the greatest moral failures of the modern welfare state.

Seeking Stillness or The Sound of Wings by Hector Acero Ferrer,Michael DeMoor,Peter Enneson,Matthew Klaassen Pdf

Seeking Stillness or The Sound of Wings pays tribute to Lambert Zuidervaart, one of the most productive Reformational philosophers of the present generation, by picking up the central concerns of his philosophical work—art, truth, and society—and working with the legacy of his published concern to see what more can be understood about our world in light of that legacy. Zuidervaart is an internationally recognized expert in critical theory, especially the work of Theodor Adorno, and a leading systematic philosopher in the reformational tradition. His research and teaching range across continental philosophy, epistemology, social philosophy, and philosophy of art, with an emphasis on Kant, Hegel, Marx, Heidegger, Gadamer, and Habermas. He is currently developing a new conception of truth for an allegedly post-truth society. At the Institute for Christian Studies (2002-2016), Zuidervaart held the Herman Dooyeweerd Chair in Social and Political Philosophy and served as founding Director of the Centre for Philosophy, Religion, and Social Ethics. He was also an Associate Member of the Graduate Faculty and Full Professor, status only, in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto, and a member of the Advanced Degree Faculty at the Toronto School of Theology. Zuidervaart is currently a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Philosophy at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Seeking Stillness or The Sound of Wings seeks to promote new scholarship emerging from the rich and dynamic tradition of reformational intellectual inquiry. Believing that all scholarly endeavor is rooted in and oriented by deep spiritual commitments, reformational scholarship seeks to add its unique Christian voice to discussions about leading questions of life and society. From this source, it seeks to contribute to the redemptive transformation and renewal of the various aspects of contemporary society, developing currents of thought that open human imagination to alternative future possibilities that may helpfully address the damage we find in present reality. As part of this work, Currents in Reformational thought will bring to light the inter–and multi–disciplinary dimensions of this intellectual tradition, and promote reformational scholarship that intentionally invites dialogue with other traditions or streams of thought.

Seeking Balance by A. Pablo Iannone Pdf

The problems and issues arising from globalization are difficult to resolve, in part because our ways of conceptualizing the conflicts and responding to them are inadequate. This book fills this gap, conceiving of globalization as a consequence of economic, political, technological, scientific, and cultural changes. A. Pablo Iannone provides a taxonomy of globalization processes, investigates the consequences of each, and formulates a comprehensive approach for dealing with them. While his emphasis is philosophical, this is not a single-discipline book. Rather, it belongs at the intersection of philosophy, economics, political science, and technology. Its discussions address issues concerning globalization and correlate the processes of fragmentation and dislocation in a realistic manner. Iannone focuses on concrete and current cases, from the global economic and financial issues posed by the multi-centered nature of contemporary business and technology, through the pressures of ever increasing information overload across the planet. He explores the environmental and social challenges associated with current Amazonian development and its significance to weather patterns on Earth. He considers the issues surrounding the use of robots in war from Pakistan through Mexico, and the militarization of space. In short, the approach, while based on theoretical concerns, is solidly grounded in highly practical applications, which are global in their implications.

Rethinking Money by Bernard Lietaer,Jacqui Dunne Pdf

Many of the world's economic ills - short-termism, compulsory growth pressure, cyclical recessions, unrelenting concentration of wealth, and erosion of social capital can be traced to our competitive money system, in which there is built-in economic scarcity and never enough money for people to pay off their debts. We need an economic system that is both cooperative and competitive, with each balancing and complimenting the other. Lietaer and Dunne tell how such a balanced system can be created and, in fact, how it is already being built in many places around the world. Individual citizens, entrepreneurs, businesses, communities, and governments are creating new cooperative money systems that link unused resources with unmet needs. Over the past 30 years there has been a tremendous growth of cooperative currencies from fewer than 100 in 1980 to over 4,000 today. But we need many more of them spread more consistently all over the globe. We also need more large-scale cooperative currencies. The emergent cooperative currency movement needs to grow up. Dodging the dogma of both left or right Rethinking Money provides the roadmap for this to happen.
