“Leavening Thought” Based on Learned Unity Truths by Carolyn Dallas-White Pdf

Unity truth is the fulcrum for the woman I have most gainfully evolved into today. I have happily come into my own. My Unity studies have been the basis for my expansion into Kabbalah, metaphysics and my experiencing the quantum leap. Ever the Worrywart, learning later, worry can be related to creativity and the sensitive. I have been lifelong inventive, from imaginary friends as a small child to the onset of my writingshort stories about the Beatles as a teen, culminating with two plays in two years. I have come a long way since my doubting days of braces and eyeglasses. Unity has gifted me my center and most sacred perception. I feel His presence guiding me. Ive learned to hand my troubles over to God, the Father, providing rescue, respite, release, and renewal; newfound wisdom and gifted intuition. In His all-knowing hands, my life will unveil according to divine plans. I trust in the Lord, the Almighty, molded in His gentle hands. My weekly return to Unity for my spiritual boost and affirmation encourages creativity, clarity, and vision. I never dreamed I would be so fulfilled at sixty-two. I am, due to a lifted Leavening Thought consciousness. It is truly amazing that the Unity lesson reflects upon and even encompasses my week. His miracles, abounding.

The Nonviolent Coming of God by James W. Douglass Pdf

In this, his most eloquent and far-reaching book, James Douglass explores the haunting parallels between the situation of Jesus and our situation today. Jesus, who lived in anticipation of the impending destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans and suffered from this vision, called urgently for a radical conversion to avert the tragedy. The choice then -- as now -- was between nonviolence and nonexistence. This choice is even more stark in the nuclear age. Whether describing the visions of Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Archbishop Romero, or the witness of his own community against the White Train carrying warheads across the country, Douglass can discern the sights of a second coming, a nonviolent coming of God. The possibility for a different future depends on a different kind of humanity, renewed and transformed by the nonviolent cross of Christ.

American Catholic Pacifism by Anne Klejment Pdf

This collection of mostly original essays by scholars and Catholic Worker activists provides a systematic, analytical study of the emergence and nature of pacifism in the largest single denomination in the United States: Roman Catholicism. The collection underscores the pivotal role of Dorothy Day's Catholic Worker movement in challenging the conventional understanding of just-war principles and the American Catholic Church's identification with uncritical militarism. Also included are a study of Dorothy Day's preconversion pacifism, previously unpublished letters from Dorothy Day to Thomas Merton, Eileen Egan's account of the birth and early years of Pax, the Catholic Worker-inspired peace organization, and in-depth coverage of how the contemporary Plowshares movement emerged from the Catholic Worker movement.

Conscious Union With God by Joel S. Goldsmith Pdf

If you think that there is some new truth to be learned humanly, you will be disappointed because there is not a single new truth in the entire world. The truth revealed in this book is not my truth or my message, but the word of God which has been imparting itself to universal consciousness throughout all time. That word of God is already embodied in your consciousness, and this truth, which is already your consciousness, is now being unveiled to you within you. Unless God is my consciousness, there will be no truth expressing itself through, or as, me; and, moreover, unless God is your consciousness, you will not understand the truth that is being presented. But, since God is universal consciousness and since God is my consciousness, truth is expressing itself as this book.

John Henry Newman by James Arthur,Guy Nicholls Pdf

John Henry Newman s writings and his lifelong search for religious truth continue to influence thought within a range of disciplines, most notably theology, philosophy and education. One of his most significant contributions was to the understanding of higher education contained within his nineteenth century writings, in particular his volume of lecturers entitled The Idea of a University, which has helped shape religious and educational thought over two centuries. Newman s claim that university education, the pursuit of universal knowledge and truth, is as much an education in pure and practical knowledge as in moral life, provides a continuing source of challenge and inspiration to education leaders today much as it did in the nineteenth century. James Arthur examines Newman s key strengths and weaknesses and locates these firmly within the intellectual context of his time, providing an overview of his work that allows students to appreciate the importance of his thought both within and outside the Catholic tradition.

Islam in Modern Turkey by Sukran Vahide Pdf

Islam in Modern Turkey presents one of the most comprehensive studies in English of the seminal Turkish thinker and theologian, Bediuzzaman Said Nursi (1876–1960). A devout Muslim who strongly believed in peacefully coexisting with the West, Nursi inspired a faith movement that has played a vital role in the revival of Islam in Turkey and now numbers several million followers worldwide. While Nursi's ideas have been afforded considerable analysis, this book is the first to situate these ideas and his related activities in their historical contexts. Based on the available sources and Nursi's own works, here is a complete and balanced view of this important theologian's life and thought.
