Lifting Modules by John Clark,Christian Lomp,N. Vanaja,Robert Wisbauer Pdf

Extending modules are generalizations of injective modules and, dually, lifting modules generalize projective supplemented modules. This duality exhibits a certain asymmetry. While the theory of extending modules is well documented in monographs and text books, the purpose of this monograph is to provide a thorough study of supplements and projectivity conditions needed to investigate classes of modules related to lifting modules.

Modules and Algebras by Robert Wisbauer Pdf

Module theory over commutative asociative rings is usually extended to noncommutative associative rings by introducing the category of left (or right) modules. An alternative to this procedure is suggested by considering bimodules. A refined module theory for associative rings is used to investigate the bimodule structure of arbitary algebras and group actions on these algebras.

Modules and Comodules by Tomasz Brzezinski,José Luis Gomez-Pardo,Ivan Shestakov,Patrick F. Smith Pdf

The 23 articles in this volume encompass the proceedings of the International Conference on Modules and Comodules held in Porto (Portugal) in 2006. The conference was dedicated to Robert Wisbauer on the occasion of his 65th birthday. These articles reflect Professor Wisbauer's wide interests and give an overview of different fields related to module theory. While some of these fields have a long tradition, others represented here have emerged in recent years.

Module Theory, Extending Modules and Generalizations by Adnan Tercan,Canan C. Yücel Pdf

The main focus of this monograph is to offer a comprehensive presentation of known and new results on various generalizations of CS-modules and CS-rings. Extending (or CS) modules are generalizations of injective (and also semisimple or uniform) modules. While the theory of CS-modules is well documented in monographs and textbooks, results on generalized forms of the CS property as well as dual notions are far less present in the literature. With their work the authors provide a solid background to module theory, accessible to anyone familiar with basic abstract algebra. The focus of the book is on direct sums of CS-modules and classes of modules related to CS-modules, such as relative (injective) ejective modules, (quasi) continuous modules, and lifting modules. In particular, matrix CS-rings are studied and clear proofs of fundamental decomposition results on CS-modules over commutative domains are given, thus complementing existing monographs in this area. Open problems round out the work and establish the basis for further developments in the field. The main text is complemented by a wealth of examples and exercises.

Extending Modules by Nguyen Viet Dung Pdf

Module theory is an important tool for many different branches of mathematics, as well as being an interesting subject in its own right. Within module theory, the concept of injective modules is particularly important. Extending modules form a natural class of modules which is more general than the class of injective modules but retains many of its

Algebra and Its Applications by Dinh Van Huynh,International conference on algebra and its applications,Surender Kumar Jain Pdf

Among all areas of mathematics, algebra is one of the best suited to find applications within the frame of our booming technological society. The thirty-eight articles in this volume encompass the proceedings of the International Conference on Algebra and Its Applications (Athens, OH, 1999), which explored the applications and interplay among the disciplines of ring theory, linear algebra, and coding theory. The presentations collected here reflect the dialogue between mathematicians involved in theoretical aspects of algebra and mathematicians involved in solving problems where state-of-the-art research tools may be used and applied. This Contemporary Mathematics series volume communicates the potential for collaboration among those interested in exploring the wealth of applications for abstract algebra in fields such as information and coding. The expository papers would serve well as supplemental reading in graduate seminars.

Foundations of Module and Ring Theory by Robert Wisbauer Pdf

This volume provides a comprehensive introduction to module theory and the related part of ring theory, including original results as well as the most recent work. It is a useful and stimulating study for those new to the subject as well as for researchers and serves as a reference volume. Starting form a basic understanding of linear algebra, the theory is presented and accompanied by complete proofs. For a module M, the smallest Grothendieck category containing it is denoted by o[M] and module theory is developed in this category. Developing the techniques in o[M] is no more complicated than in full module categories and the higher generality yields significant advantages: for example, module theory may be developed for rings without units and also for non-associative rings. Numerous exercises are included in this volume to give further insight into the topics covered and to draw attention to related results in the literature.

Ring Theory - Proceedings Of The Biennial Ohio State-denison Conference 1992 by Surender K Jain,Syed Tariq Rizvi Pdf

This volume consists of a collection of invited papers on the theory of rings and modules, most of which were presented at the biennial Ohio State — Denison Conference, May 1992, in memory of Hans Zassenhaus. The topics of these papers represent many modern trends in Ring Theory. The wide variety of methodologies and techniques demonstrated will be valuable in particular to young researchers in the area. Covering a broad range, this book should appeal to a wide spectrum of researchers in algebra and number theory.

Classical Artinian Rings and Related Topics by Yoshitomo Baba Pdf

Quasi-Frobenius rings and Nakayama rings were introduced by T Nakayama in 1939. Since then, these classical artinian rings have continued to fascinate ring theorists with their abundance of properties and structural depth. In 1978, M Harada introduced a new class of artinian rings which were later called Harada rings in his honour. Quasi-Frobenius rings, Nakayama rings and Harada rings are very closely interrelated. As a result, from a new perspective, we may study the classical artinian rings through their interaction and overlap with Harada rings. The objective of this seminal work is to present the structure of Harada rings and provide important applications of this structure to the classical artinian rings. In the process, we cover many topics on artinian rings, using a wide variety of concepts from the theory of rings and modules. In particular, we consider the following topics, all of which are currently of much interest and ongoing research : Nakayama permutations, Nakayama automorphisms, Fuller's theorem on i-pairs, artinian rings with self-duality, skew-matrix rings, the classification of Nakayama rings, Nakayama group algebras, the Faith conjecture, constructions of local quasi-Frobenius rings, lifting modules, and extending modules. In our presentation of these topics, the reader will be able to retrace the history of artinian rings.
