Liquid-liquid Equilibria by Josef P. Novák,Jaroslav Matouš,Jiří Pick Pdf

While a satisfactory description of liquid-vapour equilibria in binary and multi-component systems had been developed by the end of the fifties, a similar situation has only been attained for liquid-liquid equilibria in the last ten years. There are several reasons for this, the most important of which is the necessity to employ more complex thermodynamic models for a quantitative description of liquid-liquid equilibria. These models require very sophisticated calculation techniques that cannot be carried out without the assistance of a computer. The authors have attempted to provide a theoretical description of liquid-liquid equilibria at a level permitting routine chemical engineering applications similar to those common for liquid-vapour equilibria. Consequently, a great deal of attention is paid to the calculation of parameters for heterogeneous and homogeneous binary systems, and to the qualitative evaluation of the suitability of the most frequently used thermodynamic models.

Liquid Interfacial Systems by Rudolph V. Birikh,Vladimir A. Briskman,Manuel G. Velarde,Jean-Claude Legros Pdf

Despite factoring in countless natural, biological, and industrial processes, fixed attention on the singular attributes and behavior of fluids near or at interfaces has not received enough attention in the surface science literature. Liquid Interfacial Systems assembles and analyzes concepts and findings as an inclusive summation of fluid-fluid interfacial phenomena. This book covers excitation, stabilization, and suppression of instability at liquid interfaces. From the influential original research and scholarship of leaders in the discipline comes a volume to impart and explain definitions, scales, governing equations, and boundary conditions used in liquid interfacial system research.

Solubility of Gases in Liquids by Peter Fogg,W. Gerrard Pdf

Gives a critical and detailed survey of the solubility in a wide range of liquids of all gases in common use. The first part covers basic theoretical and practical aspects of the measurement of solubilities of gases. Limitations in the reliability of the available data are discussed and ways of predicting approximate solubilities of gases are indicated. Tables of solubility data for dissolution in aqueous and non-aqueous solvents are also included. Also contains diagrams and graphs that show the variation of solubility with pressure or temperature. Will leave the reader with a solid overview of the differing gas solubilities under conditions commonly encountered in chemical plants and laboratories.

Phase Equilibria in Ionic Liquid Facilitated Liquid-Liquid Extractions by Anand Bharti,Debashis Kundu,Dharamashi Rabari,Tamal Banerjee Pdf

This book provides a comprehensive overview of ionic liquid based separation techniques. The glimpse of thermodynamic predictive models along with global optimization techniques will help readers understand the separation techniques at molecular and macroscopic levels. Experimental and characterization techniques are coupled with model based predictions so as to provide multicomponent data for the scientific community. The models will focus more on the a-priori based predictions which gives higher emphasis on hydrogen-bonded systems. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique will also eventually help the readers to apply optimization technique to an extraction process. The overriding goal of this work is to provide pathways for leading engineers and researchers toward a clear understanding and firm grasp of the phase equilibria of Ionic Liquid systems.

Binary Liquid Systems of Nonelectrolytes I by Henry V. Kehiaian Pdf

Vapor-liquid equilibrium data, heat of mixing (excess enthalpies), and volumetric properties of systems are required for both the applications in design of industrial technological processes and the understanding the structure and the intermolecular interactions in the systems. On the basis of classical thermodynamics the measured experimental data combined together enable us the calculation of non-measurable thermodynamic properties significant for the technological calculations. The present volume is a compilation of experimental and derived property data on subcritical binary homogeneous (single-phase) or heterogeneous (two-phase) liquid–liquid mixtures. All the components are well-defined pure substances, which are organic nonelectrolytes and water. Only data obtained by, or derived from, direct experimental measurements are considered. The present Subvolume A reproduces in tables and graphs the numerical values for 800 binary mixtures (out of a total of 2846 systems). The remainder is published in Subvolumes B and C.
