The following list has been made to meet that need. List of Subject Headings as a basis, the aim has been to simplify as much as possible; carrying out this principle, the rules below have been followed with a few exceptions. External guides (instructions for the use of the catalogue) and internal guides (""signposts"" within the catalogue) are also discussed. Finally, the future of cataloguing is examined.
