Bensley's Practical Anatomy of the Rabbit by Edward H. Craigie Pdf
The anatomical study of an animal is chiefly a matter of applying a certain practical method of exposition, the student's attention being concentrated on those facts which can be made out by direct observation. This method is educative in the technical sense because it involves accurate discernment of detail, and because, as a means of obtaining first-hand information, it is the foundation of laboratory practice. This being the case, it is a very pertinent question what is the best procedure. So far, as the present book is concerned, it is expected that the study of the type will begin with at least a preliminary survey of the prepared skeleton (Part II). This will be followed by dissection (Part III), in which the order by sections will be found of less importance than that of details in any particular region and and in which portions of the skeleton related to the part under examination may be included. The regional method of approach is indicated rather than the more complete study of single systems, partly for the sake of economy of material and partly in belief that this aids understanding of the topographical and other interrelations between systems, encouraging the building up of a conception of the individual organism as an integrated unit. The general matter of Part I is purely accessory and, though necessarily incomplete in many ways, is designed to afford a comprehensive view of the various factors upon which mammalian structure depends. It will be found that only the first few chapters are introductory in most respects, the remainder being rather explanatory and hence most valuable if used to supplement the directions for dissection as this is carried out. In preparation of the eighth edition of the Practical Anatomy of the Rabbit use has been made of extensive notes recorded in the laboratory during successive years of employment of the previous edition. All relevant questions raised by students or other instructors for which an adequate answer was found not to be readily available in the text have been noted and an attempt has been made to provide answers for them in the revisions. The whole text has been searchingly surveyed with the result that many small changes have been made, parts have been expanded, and a few have been entirely rewritten.

Color Atlas of Small Animal Anatomy by Thomas O. McCracken,Robert A. Kainer Pdf
This new resource provides a basic foundation in small animal anatomy for students of veterinary medicine, animal science, and veterinary technology. Extraordinary accuracy and beautiful original artwork make this a truly unique learning tool that includes the anatomy of all organ systems in the dog, cat, rabbit, rat, and guinea pig - all described in a consistent manner. Learning features include: carefully selected labeling helps students learn and remember structures and relationships; male and female of species are depicted on facing pages so topographic anatomy can be compared; structures common to various animals are labeled several times, whereas unique structures are labeled on one or two species so students can make rapid distinctions of the structures peculiar to certain animals; and an introduction that provides readers with a background in nomenclature and anatomic orientation so they can benefit from the atlas even if they lack training in anatomy. The Atlas depicts topographic relationships of major organs in a simple, yet technically accurate presentation that's free from extraneous material so that those using the atlas can concentrate on the essential aspects of anatomy. It will be an invaluable resource for veterinary students, teachers and practitioners alike.
A lavishly illustrated compendium of the art and history of animal anatomy from antiquity to today For more than two thousand years, comparative anatomy—the study of anatomical variation among different animal species—has been used to make arguments in natural philosophy, reinforce religious dogma, and remind us of our own mortality. This stunningly illustrated compendium traces the intertwined intellectual and artistic histories of comparative anatomy from antiquity to today. Stripped Bare brings together some of the most arresting images ever produced, from the earliest studies of animal form to the technicolor art of computer-generated anatomies. David Bainbridge draws on representative illustrations from different eras to discuss the philosophical, scientific, and artistic milieus from which they emerged. He vividly describes the unique aesthetics of each phase of anatomical endeavor, providing new insights into the exquisite anatomical drawings of Leonardo and Albrecht Dürer in the era before printing, Jean Héroard’s cutting and cataloging of the horse during the age of Louis XIII, the exotic pictorial menageries of the Comte de Buffon in the eighteenth century, anatomical illustrations from Charles Darwin’s voyages, the lavish symmetries of Ernst Haeckel’s prints, and much, much more. Featuring a wealth of breathtaking color illustrations throughout, Stripped Bare is a panoramic tour of the intricacies of vertebrate life as well as an expansive history of the peculiar and beautiful ways humans have attempted to study and understand the natural world.
