Communication for Consultants by Rita R. Owens Pdf

From the moment of their first client engagement, consultants in all fields face communication opportunities and challenges. No matter what their focus may be—professional services, accounting, technology, operations, human resources, manufacturing, or marketing—consultants drive change. That change, from its initial definition through its development and deployment, must be precisely communicated to a variety of audiences and through a variety of mediums. Most business communication books do a good job leading professional writers and presenters through the basics of audience, organization, formatting, and mechanics. But, only few focus on a specific business role, such as that of a consultant, and give guidance for communicating during all stages of a project. From the pre-engagement process, to the actual engagement, to the post-engagement follow-up, consultants are challenged by the variety of audiences whose roles continually shift throughout a project. This book guides a current or would-be consultant through the various phases of a typical engagement and gives practical advice and direction on written and oral communication throughout a project. Current and future consultants in all fields will gain specific knowledge about writing and presenting to a variety of audiences including clients, team members, managers, and executives.

Business Communication in the Islamic World by Frederik Wendisch Pdf

Seminar paper from the year 2007 in the subject Communications - Intercultural Communication, grade: 1,3, Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, course: Intercultural Communications, 5 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: What is it most people associate with thoughts of the Islamic or Arab World? It is true, no one will forget the horrible pictures of the Gulf Wars from 1980 to 1991 or the attack of radical Muslims on the USA on September 11, 2001, but dictators like Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden do not mirror the whole of the Islamic world. These radical Muslims and terror attacks are only exceptions, and it is not fair to see only this side. There are fanatics from other religions or racial offenders in the Western World as well, and it is unfair to think they are all the same because they belong to the same religious group. There are about 1.3 billion Muslims in the world and for the most part, they want only to exercise their religion without any aggressive intentions. When presented with the term “Arabic”, more traditional minds might think of men riding camels through the desert, wearing turbans. This is the more accurate image of the Islamic world; a very custom rich culture with an intense focus on hospitality . While both of these images are true, what people must recognize is the enormous business power these countries possess; and this power lies in much more than oil alone. Dubai, for example, is one of the fastest growing cities in the world with investments of hundreds of billions of US-dollars each year . It seems that there are no limits set in the world of the sheiks. In Dubai they have the Burj al-arab—the only seven-star hotel in the world—and a snow dome that offers skiing, even with the temperature outside at 50 . Furthermore, in Dubai they are building the 560 metres high Burj Dubai, which will be the highest skyscraper in the world after its completion . All this considered, it is obvious that it could be profitable to have a look at the Arabic countries for businessmen and investors. This was a short introduction to answer the question of “Why” conducting business with the Arabic world could be profitable. The following section will focus on the “How” aspect. I will explain how to cultivate a cooperative environment with Islamic business partners by describing their cultural views and customs, and what people should focus on or avoid in business transactions. It will be a general overview because Dubai is not like Bahrain, in the same way Germany is not like France, but there is one binding element for these countries – their religion.

Korean Business Communication by Yeonkwon Jung Pdf

Korean Business Communication demonstrates the heuristic value of the research on Korean business communication. It is composed of two parts: theory and practice. First, alongside the review of the major research trend of Asian business communication, it explores the contemporary teaching trend of business communication in Korean higher education to define business communication from the local perspective. It also shows how Korean business professionals manage facework within the communication rules or cultural values. Second, Korean business communication data are analyzed with the main sources of three competences, discourse competence, sociolinguistic competence, and strategic competence. Emphasis is on stakeholder communication genres, Korean service encounters, Korean business apology, and Korean CEO’s online greetings. By examining how business communication and Korean communication are projected to Korean business, Korean Business Communication provides the audience knowledge far beyond cultural stereotypes in Korean business communication illustrated in classical textbooks on Korean business communication. A useful book for researchers and students in Asian business communication; intercultural communication and global communication.

Political Communication in the Arabian Gulf Countries by Adnan Jasim Bumetea Pdf

This book represents the first systematic study of aspects of political communication in the Arabian Gulf region, one of the most important areas in the Middle East. It explores the relationship between the governments and the press, first through an examination of international and national political news coverage in the Gulf press, and second through an analysis of factors influencing selection of these news stories. The research examines one principal Arabic-language newspaper from each of the six Arabian Gulf countries: Al-Ayam (Bahrain), Al-Rai Al-Aam (Kuwait), Oman (Oman), Al-Sharq (Qatar), Al-Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), and Al-Bayan (UAE). The analysis shows a culturally specific pattern of media model, distinct from that in the West or other areas in the world. This pattern can be understood through three government-press models. First, the loyalist press model prevailing in Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, in which a high level of government influence is seen, and the press is supportive and in line of the government. Second, the diverse press model, which exists in Kuwait and is characterized by a press with relative freedom and diversity. Third, the transitional press model, which describes the condition in Bahrain manifested with a mixed system of governmental control and elements of press freedom. As this pattern still exists, this book is important for decision makers, politicians, media communicators, research centers, journalism schools, media investors and newspapers industry to understand the media industry in this strategic area in the world.
