Here a scene presented itself, of sufficient extent to afford the most ample scope for his abilities, and setting before him an object commensurate with the boundless desires of his heart. This was the commencement of a new era in the life of this great man. Henceforth his labours took a new direction; his preaching, his prayers, and his correspondence, all had reference to this great subject; and his character began to unfold itself in a still more interesting and magnificent form.
